User Opinions

Softonic allows registered members to leave comments based on their experience using the software.

These user opinions can be an excellent, unfiltered source of information that compliment the program description and review that are provided by Softonic.

We highly recommend that you read through them regularly when deciding on which programs you want to try.

We also strongly encourage you to join in and write your own reviews!

No need to be an expert writer or computer geek - we're looking for your point of view in your own words.

Where can I find user reviews for a specific program?

User Ratings

This is a quick way to get the general consensus towards a program. The evaluation is broken down into 5 subcategories so that specific strengths and weaknesses can be highlighted.

You can find a summary of the user rating information on the right side of the program description page. The top section represent the average of all user ratings. The bars underneath represent the average ratings for each specific criteria.

User Comments

For all the wordsmiths out there or for those that just have a little more to say, the user comments is the place to lay down your praises or grumbles.

If there are any comments for a specific program, they will be found near the bottom of the program description page.

Each comment has information about the author, the date it was posted and the version the author was using. Only part of the comment is visible in the listing, but if you click on More for the corresponding comment you can see the comment, pros & cons and the authors' detailed rating.

Opinions Tab

To get an overview of all the user opinion information, click on the User Opinions tab. You will also find the spot for you too leave your own comments and rating.

At the top of the User Opinions page, you will find a search bar. This can be used to search through all the comments for a particular program to see if someone has commented on a specific feature you are looking for.

How can I add my own rating or comment?

Anyone can rate programs on Softonic, but you must be a registered member to leave comments.

Simply click on either the Quick rate it or Add your opinion button at the bottom of the User Rating summary box on the right side of the program description page, or click on the User Opinions tab.

Guidelines

• Comments should be focused on discussing the program and not on other users' comments. If there is a user comment that you would like to reference or respond to, please do so in a respectful manner.
• Use short sentences and try your best to correct any spelling mistakes. Proper grammar goes a long way to giving creditability to your comments.
• You can also post questions relating to how a program works in this area. If you do, be sure to check the Alert me to new user opinions box so we can notify you when someone answers your question.
• If you have difficulties installing the program or if it crashes on your PC, be sure to include some specifics about your PCs configuration such as the OS you are using. These comments will be very useful for other users and developers who are checking up on their applications.
• Be sure to include some justification to back up your statement. Simply stating "This program sucks" is not helpful to anyone. Try something like "This program sucks because...".
