Attention Grabber 3.3-Extend the functionality of the Attention Manager

http://attention-grabber.en.softonic.com/palm

The Attention Manager was a feature introduced in Palm OS 4.0 to co-ordinate information from different applications. It's not perfect though, and many users are annoyed by the fact that you don't get continuous alerts to things like new SMS messages or missed calls.

Attention Grabber is designed to change that, working as a hack for the Attention Manager. The main interface in Attention Grabber looks pretty dull, but it's functional and easy to use. You just need to set the program's state to 'Enabled' and choose the time interval between alerts.

You then get to choose how Attention Grabber will alert you, and can select 'Beep', 'LED' or 'Vibrate' (or a combination of these). You can also specify what time you want to activate the application, so it automatically comes into effect at this hour.

That's about it really, so Attention Grabber isn't really a powerful app with its own set of features, rather a free add-on that addresses a shortcoming in the Attention Grabber.

If you want continuous reminders of Palm events you've missed, Attention Grabber makes for a hassle-free solution.

Download Attention Grabber 3.3 in Softonic

http://tealscan.en.softonic.com/palm

I don't know about you, but I've got loads of duplicate contacts on my Palm and I've been waiting for a software solution that can help me quickly get rid of them.

Well, it looks like I've just found it in the shape of the free TealScan.
The application helps you keep your Palm device free of garbage and check up on a number of different memory status indicators from one clear viewer.

The program is a doddle to use and comes with a number of great features, although its functionality is still limited due to the fact that it's still in alpha release.

There's still plenty of functionality in here though and TealScan includes all the tools you need to locate and eliminate duplicate PIM records in the memory.

The program also displays, in a single window, the level of battery charge, available free memory, the status of the memory card installed on your device, and also the level of coverage.

Granted, these options are already available on the Palm OS, but by centralising them all, TealScan makes it easier to check them at-a-glance.

It's far from being a polished product at the moment, but if you're looking for a quick way to manage duplicate contacts and view memory status, it does the job pretty well.

Download TealScan 1.10 in Softonic

Resco Suite 2.11-Six powerful Palm utilities in one

http://resco-suite.en.softonic.com/palm

I don't know about you, but I've always found that the Palm OS lacks a little in terms of decent built-in tools. Don't get me wrong, I love the platform, but sometimes I hanker for some tools to help me get more from my handheld device.

Fear not though, for Resco has already thought of this, releasing a number of smart apps designed to improve functionality and get better connected. Now the developer has released six of its top programs in one package to help you transform your Palm into an altogether more powerful beast. I'll try and sum up each one as briefly as I can:

Resco Explorer is first up, and provides a Windows Explorer-style file manager for your Palm. As well as a nifty application launcher, you also get built-in Zip functionality and a number of additional helpers.

Next is Resco Backup, an essential piece of kit for anyone worried about data loss. This utility creates backup copies of all the data on your internal memory or external cards. It boasts powerful encryption and a neat Verify function for secure entry.

There's also Resco Photo Viewer for managing all your albums, which supports all the major graphics formats, and Resco IDGuard for protecting confidential information such as passwords, usernames, bank details etc.

RSS functionality is covered by Resco Neeews, which delivers all the latest current affairs to your handheld. Finally, you get Resco Sudoku, a well presented number puzzler for killing time on the bus.

The suite is packaged together well and it's dead easy to launch each program independently and switch between them. Running them all together can put a bit of a strain on your system memory though.

Overall, Resco Suite is a comprehensive package of application that will improve the way you handle information on your device.

Download Resco Suite 2.11 in Softonic

The ladies often describe me as a 'Power Hero' but even I'm not able to conserve the battery of a Palm device. This little application can though, and does so with much aplomb.

It does this by providing you with several options such as the ability to change the state of all the wireless resources on your device (telephone, TO GO, Bluetooth or WiFi).

You can also turn to Power Hero to automate the changing of your profile screen at certain times of the day or to auto-shutdown your Palm after a specified period of inactivity, both of which can help preserve your battery life.

Of course, you could perform all these changes manually, but Power Hero lets you alter everything from one place, making it ideal for anyone who gets annoyed by running out of power all the time.

Download Power Hero 1.24 in Softonic

DeluxeWare Weather 1.00-Download and view weather forecasts for your area

http://deluxeware-weather.en.softonic.com/palm

At this time of year the weather can be pretty unpredictable. Only last week I put on my shorts before I headed out into the morning sunshine only for it to start snowing four hours later.

If only I'd had DeluxeWare Weather installed on my Palm. This smart application can download weather forecasts and display up-to-the-minute weather information on your PDA, meaning you never have to get caught short (or in your shorts) again.

You'll need a Net connection on your Palm, of course, but as long as you're connected it's pretty simple to set up the software and you get all sorts of options for choosing which area or World city you're in, what type of information you want to view, and how the weather is likely to change in the next few days.

What I liked about DeluxeWare Weather was the excellent way the forecasts are presented. The app makes great use of graphics to indicate sun, rain, snow, clouds etc. and there's even a wind gauge that shows you which direction it's blowing in. The program provides comprehensive weather information, including everything from the sun's UV index to dew point, humidity and visibility. I missed the inclusion of a pollen count meter though.

One of the few bad things about Weather is that the range of cities you can choose from is pretty limited and you may end up having to select one that's hundreds of miles away from where you actually are.

On the whole though, this is a comprehensive weather information provider that delivers complete forecasts to you wherever you go.

Download DeluxeWare Weather 1.00 in Softonic

When it comes to tracking the battery power on our PDA most of us will settle for just glancing at our Palm every few hours.
However, it you really want to analyze your battery's performance over time then you're best off installing a third party application to get the job done for you.

BatteryTrace is just such an application and allows you to track changes in power over time.
You can choose to display the changes in charge over different periods of time, namely: one hour, one day, one week or two weeks.

You simply need to choose a timeframe from the drop-down menu (you can't enter a custom time interval, unfortunately) and click 'Start' to start the analysis.

Clicking 'View' will display a line graph outlining the rate at which your power decreases based on the percentage of maximum charge.
