Pocket Uno is a Windows Mobile version of the classic card game, whereby you need to be the first person to get rid of all your cards. It's a faithful recreation of the original, with the same colors and designs on the cards and exactly the same rules.

It actually takes a little while to get into Pocket Uno. For starters, the program first launches in Esperanto for some bizarre reason. Luckily, you can change this to one of five other languages via the 'Lingvo' option. Also, if you've never played Uno before you might want to read the rules on the Internet or in a book first because there is no help file included.

There are several options available in Pocket Uno to help you customize your games. There are three difficulty levels, controllable animation speed, plus the ability to toggle on and off the background display. Unfortunately though, you can't change the number of computer opponents (it's set at three) and, more crucially, there's no multiplayer option.

Despite these shortcomings, Pocket Uno is still and enjoyable and well-presented version of a card game classic.

The game represents one of the most realistic mobile simulations of the game I've ever seen. In fact it's as smartly turned-out as even the most well-kept baizes of the World Championships. From the opening video montage through to the pixel-perfect ball shadows and intelligent physics, you'll be blown away by the visuals of this one.

Luckily, Pool Challenge is good fun to play, too. The Pocket PC version turns your stylus into a miniature pool cue which controls both the angle and the power of each shot. At first this control system is a little tricky to get used to such is its sensitivity, and I was forever over-hitting shots or even hitting the ball when I didn't want to.

There are two game modes to choose from: 8-ball or 9-ball pool, and you can plump for one or two-player options. There are quite a few game settings to tinker with as well, such as CPU opponent difficulty, table friction, and music volume. The latter of these is most welcome, since the in-game soundtrack is soundtrack is pretty unbearable.

If you're potty about potting then you certainly won't be disappointed by Pool Challenge.

If you don't know how to play it's fairly simple and this version offers a comprehensive explanation of the rules and instructions. We used to play a slightly different version with a rude word when I was younger. You lay down cards, change the direction of the game, skip to the next player and change the selection of the cards being placed down.

It's fast and fun and you can change the settings depending on the number of virtual players you want to compete against and the character you wish to choose. You can also adjust the music and sound settings. You can have it on vibrate to remind you when it's your go which is much more pleasant, especially when playing more than one game. There is a variety of different rooms and tables to keep things interesting.

In terms of its presentation UNO Classic is impeccable and the many different characters and scenes you can choose from are all bright and colorful. It's pretty addictive too, and the addition of a 'House Rules' mode only adds to its longevity.

If you're a fan of the original or if you're simply looking for a fun new game to play, this one is well worth downloading.

Vegas Pool Sharks gives you the chance to hone your skills in the hustlers' playground that is Las Vegas. You'll get a chance to fleece money from some of the most canny players in the casino. Alternatively you might lose your house.

The game sees you compete against four different computer opponents who vary in their level of skill. I would've liked to have seen a few more characters just to add a bit more variety, but there are three different game modes to help you mix things up a bit.

Vegas Pool Sharks boasts some surprisingly accurate ball physics making it a fairly realistic pool simulation for a mobile device. The 3D views are great and you can zoom in and out or tilt the angle of your cue fairly smoothly. Thanks to some helpful aiming hints it should be quite easy for you to get to grips with the game.

Although it lacks the all-important two player mode, Vegas Pool Sharks is a fairly accurate pool simulation that will keep you amused for some time.

Panoramic BlackJack is a Windows Mobile version of the popular game often known as 'Pontoon' or simply '21'. The object of the game is to attain a hand with a total value of 21, or as close to 21 as you can get without going over, while scoring more than the dealer.

This version of the game is very simple to play and if you don't know the rules then you can just check out the comprehensive help section. All you need to do in Panoramic BlackJack is to select the amount you wish to bet by clicking on the appropriate values. Chips representing that amount will then be displayed in the main window. Click 'Deal' and your cards will be dealt. You can then choose to stand, double, surrender, split or take insurance, depending on the circumstances. Unfortunately in this demo version, you can't view your total bank balance, but you do get plenty of chips to play with so you can keep going for quite a while.

The graphics and overall presentation in Panoramic BlackJack are excellent. The table and the cards themselves are realistic, as are the sound effects of cards being drawn and dealt. The addition of crowd noises is a nice touch too.

Panoramic BlackJack has a few options that you can tinker with. There are four difficulty levels and you can choose between various methods of card counting. There's also a high scores board so you can challenge yourself to improve on your bank balance. Unfortunately there is a glaring omission to the options menu - a multiplayer mode. Playing against your PDA all the time does get a tad repetitive so after a while I was crying out for the ability to pit my wits against a human opponent.

Panoramic BlackJack provides a well polished, realistic Pontoon sim, but being a single-player game it has a limited shelf-life.

The graphics aren't very good but the game itself includes three levels of difficulty and one or two player modes. In addition, it includes options to customise the game board, changing colors environment, activating/deactivating the sound, among other possibilities.

If you're a beginner then don't expect much help from this game, but if you're looking to hone your chess skills and progress in difficulty TeKnowMagic Chess represents a nice way to do so on the bus.

You can play against the computer or in two-player mode with four levels of difficulty, from nice and easy to extremely tough. The computer plays at a fast pace no matter what level you choose so you're never waiting tiresomely for the next move.

The automatic score keeps count on the screen which can be encouraging or off-putting depending on how you're doing and if you need a perfect environment to reach your dominoes pinnacle then change the background to an aesthetically pleasing display.

Which is why it's a little surprising to find this version in blue and yellow. Now I'm all for bold changes but blue and yellow are two of my worst colours.

Still you'll be glad to know it really makes no difference whatsoever.

It's a strategy game where you have to deploy your pieces in the best positions to overturn those of your opponent. Once all the free squares have been filled, the person with most of their pieces on the board wins.

Play it and you'll get the hang of it in seconds. In this version there are three levels of difficulty and best of all up to three of you can play at the same time.

The rules are included, and pretty easy to pick up. Helpfully, the program will show you all available moves for each piece, which makes learning the game a cinch. The original game had a 16x16 board, whereas Halma Sharp is half the size, which makes for tighter and faster games. On the other hand, while you are getting the hang of the rules, you will no doubt lose often and quickly, even in easy mode!

The board is bright and clear, and the menu is easy to navigate. As a way to exercise your brain for a few minutes here and there, it's a nice little game to play. It's possible that due to the small board, you will find there are limited tactics for success, but in the short term it's fun.
