<![CDATA[ Easy Reject 1.03 - Block unwanted calls and messages ]]> http://easy-reject.en.softonic.com/symbian

If you're anything like me then you probably know a few people who you absolutely dread getting phone calls from - an ex-partner, a boring relative, your bank manager, your boss - the list goes on really.

Of course, you can just press the red button on your phone to disconnect them. The trouble is, then these people know you've disconnected them and you'll come across as rude or ignorant or end up fueling the fire for a later petty argument. Easy Reject is designed to help you put this kind of problem behind you for good.

The application allows you to filter out incoming calls and messages quickly and easily. You can set up blacklists of numbers you don't want to get through and Easy Reject lets you import these from your phone's contacts. Once activated, whenever that person tries to call they'll just get the busy tone. If they try to send you an SMS, this will automatically be referred to a special message log without even alerting you.

Easy Reject is also perfect for screening out calls from those pesky Internet providers, window salesmen and insurance companies that keep phoning you up. You simply tick an option to block calls from withheld numbers (which these type of calls nearly always are). Of course, the only trouble with a program like Easy Reject is that you might reject important calls, such as the one to tell you you've one the lottery.

If you're fed up with certain people ringing you all the time, Easy Reject provides a hassle-free way to get them out of your life.

<![CDATA[ Advanced Call Manager (S60 3rd) 2.69 - Complete environment for managing your incoming calls ]]> http://advanced-call-manager.en.softonic.com/symbian

The Advanced Call Manager's unique feature is the ultra-fast recognition of remote callers which allows personalized replies (SMS, mute, reject, accept, greet, divert) to be attributed within a part of a second leaving the caller unaware of your current availability. The application rich functionality makes it a very convenient tool for any manager as it saves time by taking over the management of your incoming calls when you are too busy to do it by yourself.

With Advanced Call Manager you can organize your phone book into custom lists like Black (people you don't like to disturb you), White list (important people who are "allowed" to call you) or any other custom lists (a very special custom group could be your family to which you can wish to send a personal SMS if somebody calls you during a meeting).

The application enables you to set different actions for the groups you have defined - you can accept, reject, divert calls, send personalized SMS, play personalized greeting or mute the ringer. In SMS templates you can set special messages for each group very easily. You can do the same with the personalized greetings.

Voice Inbox is an application that empowers your device with answering machine functionality. Installing Voice Inbox on your device you can rely on your own independent answering machine with local storage of messages left instead of on your operator voice mailbox service.

<![CDATA[ Total Recall 2.1.1 (S60 3rd) - Utility for recording phone calls in AMR or WAV format ]]> http://total-recall-s60-3rd.en.softonic.com/symbian

Do you ever find yourself constantly repeating things to your friends only for them to turn around and say "yeah, but haven't you told me that before"? Likewise you may forget the time and date of arrangements you made over the phone. With Total Recall these issues are a thing of the past.

The application allows you to record mobile phone calls with the push of a button, saving them as audio files in either WAV or AMR format. No matter if it's an incoming or outgoing call Total Recall springs into action straight away, capturing the sound in the background. In fact, this latest version of the software removes the beep that you'd get in previous releases, meaning that Total Recall is totally transparent.

There are quite a few options and settings to twiddle with, including a facility for auto-recording conversations as soon as you start talking, plus the ability to link saved audio files to contacts in your address book. Once you've finished recording, you can send the file to your pal (or to others, for that matter) using IR, email, MMS or Bluetooth.

It's a decent system and the sound quality is OK, although it only supports WAV and AMR output. Ultimately though, the big argument against Total Recall is a moral one. If you inform the other person that you're recording them then it's fine. If you don't, then you're getting into some murky ground legally, and if your friends/customers/spouse finds out what you've been doing you may see your popularity start to wane.

If you want to record mobile phone conversations, Total Recall makes for a reliable solution. Just remember to ask the permission of the other caller first!

<![CDATA[ Mobisy's Spam Manager 1.0.1 - No more spam calls or texts ]]> http://mobisys-spam-manager.en.softonic.com/symbian

Mobisy's Spam Manager promises that once downloaded you won't get a single nuisance call or text message ever again, or at least not a spam one anyway. The program is able to intercept all calls and messages it views as spam and block them without you knowing. It does this by secretly and cleverly telling the phone if the number matches one that is listed as spam. It then either blocks the call or directs the message into a separate folder that you don't need to worry about.

The one word of warning with Mobisy's Spam Manager is it does require you to do a lot of the work yourself. When you first use it you can open a folder to see the numbers that the software is blocking and similarly with text messages. But the cover is a bit basic. What it really wants you to do is add numbers to the blocking list, eg those people or companies who keep bothering you. Transfer these numbers to the folder and Mobisy's Spam Manger will reject all their calls. Of course this can be helpful but it's a bit different to spam.

<![CDATA[ SpeakerPhone 1.04 (SP) - Automatically switch on hands-free mode ]]> http://speakerphone.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

The speakerphone is one of my favorite mobile phone features of all time, and it's great to be able to talk and have your hands free at the same time.

Unfortunately, setting speakerphone as your default way of answering the phone isn't really possible on the Windows Mobile platform - unless you have SpeakerPhone installed on your device. This simple, free utility automatically switches on the hands-free mode when a call comes in, or even when you make an outgoing call.

Configuring SpeakerPhone is a very straightforward proposition. You simple need to enable the appropriate option in the Incoming or Outgoing call menu in the program. You can also set the application to auto-answer, specifying the delay time.

Once launched, the application will hide itself and display an icon on the home screen, which you can use to open it and adjust its settings. This makes SpeakerPhone very simple to operate, although it would've been nice to have seen some extra features tagged onto the interface, such as in-call volume control or a Hold switch.

But if you just want a quick and easy way of automatically switching your device to speakerphone, this app is ideal.

<![CDATA[ iBerry Black & Whitelist 1.32 - Blacklist unwanted callers ]]> http://iberry-black-whitelist.en.softonic.com/blackberry

You know who they are. Those people that you just dread calling you, like your bank manager, boss or ex-girlfriend. When they call you normally only have a limited number of options: you can answer the call (out of the question), let it ring off (embarrassing if you're on a crowded train), or 'red button' them (which will rile them even more than not answering). Face it, you're screwed either way.

Actually, you're not. Well, not if you install iBerry Black & Whitelist on your Blackberry phone, anyway. As the name suggests, the application allows you to 'blacklist' people who you don't want to speak to and 'whitelist' those that you do.

Creating blacklists and whitelists is a simple task that can be done in a number of ways. You can either add numbers to the lists from your contacts, or go through your call logs and mark them as black or white using the appropriate radio button. You can also choose to blacklist anyone whose number is hidden when they call.

The software works effectively, and disconnects the phone within 50 milliseconds of a call coming through, leaving your caller unaware that they've been blacklisted - they'll just think that your phone is switched off. Your Blackberry won't make a sound or vibrate, so you won't even know about it until you check your call logs.

There are loads of options and blocking settings to tinker with, so the menus get a little cluttered, but once you've worked out the way you want to block people, you learn to ignore the ones you don't need.

An effective solution for blocking unwanted callers.

<![CDATA[ Call Firewall 1.4 - Block calls to your phone with this powerful app ]]> http://call-firewall.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

Don't get me wrong, mobile phones are great and everything, but there are times when they can ruin your life a bit. You know the sort of thing I'm talking about - your boss calling you on your day off, a telesales company pestering you to buy new windows every day, or an old flame bombarding you with calls when you just want to be left alone. Rather than having to endure these awkward situations, simply install the excellent Call Firewall.

As the name suggests, the free software works as a kind of firewall for the phone, filtering unwanted calls using so-called Black and White Lists. Call Firewall runs quietly in the background of your system, yet offers a wide range of screening options. calls. There are several diffferent filter rules at your disposal - from suppressing all incoming calls, to just blocking those in the blacklist you create.

Another useful feature is the ability to create a 'white list', where only calls from people you actually want to speak to can get through. The free software can be set to send an SMS to people who can't get through, demanding them to register to be added to your white list.

Call Firewall performed very well in our tests, and effectively blocks out any type of unwanted calls, which could ultimately save you lots of work, money or embarrassment!

<![CDATA[ ClipTone Ambient 1.10 - Cool video ringtone and player ]]> http://cliptone-ambient.en.softonic.com/symbian

I often get really annoyed when people ring me. Not just because I hate talking to people, but also because I get really fed up with hearing the same ringtone all the time.

ClipTone provides a great way to make receiving calls interesting, by allowing you to use videos instead of tones to signify an incoming call. You can either choose from one of the three preset videos (not advisable, as they're rubbish) or add your own.

One of my favourite things about ClipTone is the fact that you relate different contacts to different videos. I use this feature to record videos of my friends waving at the camera and saying their name, or sometimes I even get them to sing a little song. That way, it brings a smile to my face every time they call me. It gets a little annoying after a while though, not to mention the embarrassment on the bus.

The 'Ambient' video bundled with this one basically consists of big red, yellow and orange stars flashing continuously. This is accompanied by a grinding electro guitar riff. It's fun for a few seconds and the stars are strangely hypnotic but the combination of the flashing and the music quickly becomes annoying and I feel a bit sick.

Nevertheless, ClipTone is still a fun way to liven up your incoming calls.
