Enhanced Calculator (S60 3rd) - Basic, scientific and financial calculator

If you're a bit tired of the default Series 60 calendar then you may enjoy Enhanced Calculator, which boasts advanced features and improved usability.

Enhanced Calculator provides you with three main calculator modes: basic, scientific, and financial. As a result, you can use it to perform a range of functions, from simple addition and multiplication, to complex equations.

Using Enhanced Calculator is very straightforward and the interface is well designed and presented. I liked the way the directional pad can be used to enter the type of operation you wish to perform in the basic calculator (plus, minus, divide and multiply), and found it easy to switch calculator modes. I also found the loan calculator to be a very quick way of calculating repayments.

Perhaps the only weak point of Enhanced Calculator is that its scientific calculator doesn't include a very broad range of functions.

On the whole though, Enhanced Calculator makes for a decent replacement to the S60's on-board number cruncher.

Solution 2.0 (S60 3rd) - Powerful, programmable calculator

I have to admit that I'm rubbish when it comes to maths. I always have been. This meant that at school I became very close friends with my calculator and would carry it wherever I went. These days I leave it at home, but there are still times when I wish I had my trusty companion with me.

Thanks to the magic of mobile phone technology it's now possible to have a powerful calculator in your pocket at all times. Solution is one of a number of calculating apps available for cellphones, and proves to be one of the best.

The software is designed to compute any mathematical problems, from basic algebraic calculations to complex scientific processes. Solution's programmable user interface is surprisingly easy to navigate thanks to large, clear icons that allow you to quickly select the type of calculation you wish to perform.

There are oodles of functions locked in there, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; trigonometry functions, bases, graphical analysis, exponential and logarithmic functions, and lots of other stuff I don't really understand.

On top of this it boasts a number of advanced features that allow you to solve matrices, limits, differential equations and define integrals. Personally, I would have liked to see some kind of explanation of what all of this means in layman's terms, but I guess if you're the sort of person performing these type of equations you know what you're doing anyway.

Ultimately, Solution provides a powerful environment for transforming your phone into a programmable scientific calculator.

Calcium is a fast, easy to use calculator for your S60 phone. Getting tired of the S60 calculator? We were, so we made our own. Using some of the concepts that make ControlFreak so easy to use, we removed the need to select on-screen buttons and moved all the operations to the joystick. Doing basic calculations on your phone is now only a couple of clicks away.
So how fast is it?

Try this simple example: start the standard calculator and do 2/3 x 7. It takes 13 clicks. Using Calcium it only takes 6! Best of all, it's free

Free Simple Calculator 1.0 (S60 3rd) - Solve simple mathematical equations

I've always been pretty rubbish at sums so having a calculator on my phone is perfect for me when I'm out shopping or gambling. The built-in calculator on my cell is OK, but a little boring and cumbersome for my liking. Free Simple Calculator is an interesting alternative that is designed to make solving mathematical riddles all the easier, as the name suggests.

The app can perform addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. The best part of the program is that each of these functions can be mapped to a different button on your phone, making for quicker solutions. All you need to do is enter the first number in the equation then tap the relevant key and, hey presto - problem solved.

Ultimately, Free Simple Calculator can only perform basic equations, but for performing quick sums on the hop, it works well.

More often than not calculators on mobile phones are a little frustrating. They are either too simplistic offering very basic functions or they are so advanced it takes a few years at university to be able to press all the buttons in the right order. What I've always wanted is a middle solution, and you know what? I think I've found it.

Handy Calculator gives you all the functionality you need but without a worrying array of symbols. It has all the basics, of course, but presented nicely in the centre of the screen allowing you to quickly calculate all your mathematical equations using the up, down, left, right and central buttons on your keypad. The software shows a history for up to the last five operations which is useful when you make mistakes, plus even more useful it saves your last 20 results. If you need a quick and reliable calculator, Handy Calculator is a good choice.

It comes with everything you'd expect from a scientific calculator supporting forces, powers, trigonometry; all those equations you dreaded at school. There are more than 130 built-in functions, and that should be enough for anybody.

NiceCalc was specially designed for mobile handhelds powered by OS SymbianTM. It will help you to turn mobile handheld into a powerful scientific calculator. The main purpose of NiceCalc is to present the most handy interface as well as full number of computing functions.

Main advantage over the rest of S60 calculators is that NiceCalc combines fast "just-one-click" interface with broad set of functions. It was designed as a tool that is convenient for both elementary and scientific calculations.

For demonstration of the NiceCalc's handy interface just examine the following examples:
the expression "sin2(60) + cos2(60)" can be calculated using NiceCalc in 14 keystrokes. Some known and popular S60 3rd party calculator forces you to press 36 buttons to do the same. One more example: "2 ∙ (–3) + 4". That are 7 clicks on NiceCalc and 16 clicks on the standard (built-in) S60 calculator.

Basic features of NiceCalc include:

• Easy and quick "just-in-click" interface
• Support of "simplified" form for binary operations
• Double-precision of calculations up to 20 digits (Number of decimal symbols depends upon display width)
• Maximal positive number: 9.(999)…+99
• Minimal positive number: 1…-99
• Three modes of angle calculations: degrees, radians, grads
• Indication of memory cell, current angle unit and function mode
• Animation of keystrokes (For simplifying navigation)
• Highlighting current calculation mode (functions/digits)
• Supporting decimal, hexadecimal, octal and binary numeric systems
• Automatic rounding support
