Bloom is an easy-to-use app that connects with your Facebook account and enables you to upload photos in batches. All you have to do is give your new photo album a name and description, decide who can access its content and drag and drop the photos onto Bloom's interface. The images will be automatically uploaded in no time!

But Bloom is not only about uploading. You can also use it to directly download your friends' albums to your hard drive. Simply click the Friends button, select any friend and right click on the album you want to download. Note that this works only for albums created by your friends – not photos where your friends have been tagged.

Bloom also works great as Facebook photo viewer, both for your own albums and your friends' pictures; double click on any thumbnail to see the corresponding photo in actual size, and use the filmstrip at the bottom to browse the whole album.

The only thing where Bloom is not that good at is in downloading single pictures. You need to open them in the program's viewer, right click on them and select "Save Image". It's definitely a tool made to work with photos in batches.

Duplicate photos are eliminated including photos that are of poor image quality. The program works by allowing you to define the "plot" i.e ordering your photos according to protagonists or sequence of events along a timeline. You can then add special effects (which are mainly nothing more than transitions) plus a musical soundtrack.

This is a great way of breathing new life into an old photo collection. The sequencing of events is easy and adding transitions and effects is too. However, it's really limited in features. There's very little you can do other than stick your photos in sequence and watch then scroll much like a slideshow.

It's a tiny app, that doesn't require installation. It does need a bit of preparation though. Wherever you keep Bing Downloader, you must create a folder called BingImages yourself, then the images will automatically be deposited there. It's strange that the app doesn't do this itself, but it's not much of a bind.

All you have to do now is double-click the Bing Downloader EXE, and as soon as the images have appeared on the interface a few seconds later, the images will be safely saved in your BingImages folder. Click on an image on the app, and it will be enlarged for closer appraisal. There is absolutely nothing else to it. Everything is presented in a slightly transparent way, which looks modern.
