Bloom is an easy-to-use app that connects with your Facebook account and enables you to upload photos in batches. All you have to do is give your new photo album a name and description, decide who can access its content and drag and drop the photos onto Bloom's interface. The images will be automatically uploaded in no time!

But Bloom is not only about uploading. You can also use it to directly download your friends' albums to your hard drive. Simply click the Friends button, select any friend and right click on the album you want to download. Note that this works only for albums created by your friends – not photos where your friends have been tagged.

Bloom also works great as Facebook photo viewer, both for your own albums and your friends' pictures; double click on any thumbnail to see the corresponding photo in actual size, and use the filmstrip at the bottom to browse the whole album.

The only thing where Bloom is not that good at is in downloading single pictures. You need to open them in the program's viewer, right click on them and select "Save Image". It's definitely a tool made to work with photos in batches.

If you can connect your PC to a big screen, then you could use this program in a classroom too as Whiteboard recreates a virtual whiteboard environment when you can draw, write and instantly delete images in a matter of seconds. When you run the program, you get four different colours to choose from - black, red, blue and green plus an eraser to delete them all. By using your mouse or simply typing on your keyboard, you can sketch, scribble or doodle just about any design you can imagine on the whiteboard. The marker pen looks very realistic and it moves generally very smoothly across the screen although if you scribble to fast, you may find that it tends to disappear a bit or can perform rather sluggishly. It could also do with a few more colours to choose from although it seems it's principally designed as a learning application than an artistic one.

It's a tiny app, that doesn't require installation. It does need a bit of preparation though. Wherever you keep Bing Downloader, you must create a folder called BingImages yourself, then the images will automatically be deposited there. It's strange that the app doesn't do this itself, but it's not much of a bind.

All you have to do now is double-click the Bing Downloader EXE, and as soon as the images have appeared on the interface a few seconds later, the images will be safely saved in your BingImages folder. Click on an image on the app, and it will be enlarged for closer appraisal. There is absolutely nothing else to it. Everything is presented in a slightly transparent way, which looks modern.

ImageShack Uploader is a simple uploading tool that enables you to have your photos published on ImageShack in a very easy way. You can add as many photos as you want to the list and let the program take care of the job. If you're an ImageShack registered user, you can also add tags and set privacy settings to your pics.

After a while – it'll take some time to upload the photos, especially if they're high-res – your pictures will be uploaded to ImageShack, and ImageShack Uploader will display a bunch of different links to share them online on forums, websites, and more. You'll also be able to share the image directly on Twitter.

This latest version does all this still but also provides a whole set of tools for photographers to perform various other tasks with their images including capturing images from their cameras. In addition, you can now geotag your photos, view and edit metadata, and utilize the Microsoft Live Local to store and publish photos.

In addition, Microsoft Pro Photo Tools 2 works much better with Adobe products (useful when editing metadata that you'll later edit in Photoshop) and users can now convert from RAW to JPEG, TIFF, and HD using "As Shot" settings. It now also supports 64-bit Windows systems. Probably the most useful update is the geo-tagging GUI which allows you to quickly identify exactly where your images were taken and it even utilizes GPS coordinates.

Microsoft Pro Tools 2 is a remarkably well designed and thought out photo processing app for a Microsoft product and even professional photographers will find something useful in it.

GPhotospace is a free Firefox add-on currently only for Windows that uses a Gmail account as space for you to store and, if you wish, share your photos with your friends (and enemies if you have their email addresses).

Installation is easy, and once you've enabled the GPhotospace add-on and restarted Firefox, you are taken on a short guide on how to use the application. Uploading photos is pretty fast compared to Flickr etc, and albums are stored neatly in a Gmail style page in the browser. You have to have a Gmail account and you can open one during the add-on setup process.

Photos have to be in .png or .jpg format, though that's fairly standard and shouldn't cause anyone huge problems. You can share your photos and albums by selecting what you want, and then clicking the share button. The albums are then shared with any email addresses you enter, although it doesn't appear to be linked to your Gmail address book, which is a shame.

At the moment there are no options to link your photos to any of the social networking sites, but the developers seem to be stressing GPhotospace as a more private system. Nevertheless, it would be a good option for future versions.

GPhotospace is a neat little add-on which gives you a large amount of storage space for your photos, while keeping total control over who can see them.

I struggle somewhat. PhotoME is designed to alleviate this problem by giving you a platform to easily view and edit the meta data in your image files (i.

e. the information that your digital camera automatically create whenever you take a picture).

The program provides a solid interface for reading and managing this data, although the sorting capabilities don't quite match up to the likes of ACDSee or Irfanview, in my opinion.

I really liked the ability to export EXIF information in different formats though, and this feature is perfect for putting detailed information about your shots onto the Web.

Once you're done, the avatar will be saved on your PC as a BMP file and also published to the program's website, from where you'll be able to embed it to your blog.

These coins can be acquired in the program's website and there's also ways to obtain some of them for free: for example, if your avatar is viewed more than 100 times.

Although you can upload your avatar with a guest account (as long as it uses only free items) you'll need to create an user account if you want to use other services.

Meazure is a handy tool that has been created bearing in mind all the problems and special needs that web designers and developers may have during their day. With Meazure you can measure any object on the screen, as well as see it in detail through a powerful magnifier - which can zoom up to 32x - and obtain the correspondent RGB color code.

All the utilities included in Meazure are conveniently arranged on the program's interface, though you can choose which ones to show and which ones to hide. Other configuration options let you choose between seven different measurement units (or create your own system), and customize the appearance of lines, grids, rulers and crosshairs.

On the downside, the program doesn't seem to let you save color codes, nor does it feature a built-in screen capturing tool.

Meazure is a useful tool – especially for developers and web designers – with which you can check the measurements and color of any element on the screen.

Ardoise is a old style blackboard that allows you to write, draw and erase whatever you want. When you launch it, Ardoise remains hidden as a transparent small version which is called "Hide mode" and when you want to draw, just switch to "Draw mode" and you can use Ardoise just as you would a normal blackboard but with virtual chalk.

It can even "remember" different boards for different days of the week - so you can set a reminder board for every day of the week. You can also highlight the most important things in different colors. There's even a small syncing tool which allows you to upload your Ardoise board to an FTP server for downloading on another device later.

Blackboards don't come much more sophisticated or useful than Ardoise although it would have been nice to see it incorporate reminder alarms.

On execution, you'll see the small, odd-looking ColorPad window on your desktop. Alongside the program itself is a readme file that you'll need to read because using ColorPad isn't that intuitive from the get-go, although it does become eventually become very easy to use.

Left-click and hold the ColorPad window, then it will show any color you hover over on your screen. There is no toolbar either on the ColorPad window itself or on the tab on the Windows toolbar. However, simply right-clicking on ColorPad will let you into the settings and tools.

In Tools, you'll find options to change the color code type - Hex, Dec or Floating format - as well as a zoom mode and split-screen function. Settings options allow you to change the way the app behaves. For instance, you can have it sitting 'always on top' of other windows if necessary. Being so lightweight, ColorPad is ideal as a portable app on your USB drive too.

While it color picks perfectly well, ColorPad really isn't very attractive, but the developer has included a download on extra skins in the 'ColorPad skinning' doc included in the download.
