PersonalBrain is a mind mapping application that aims to mold itself on your own way of thinking.

You can use the application to build to build up diagrams, create networks or simply sketch out your thoughts. PersonalBrain is flexible to work with. Start out from a "brain", essentially a thought and build up from it adding new ideas. You can choose to focus on a specific brain and add your own notes to it. The search box at the bottom left helps you find an idea quickly.

PersonalBrain isn't limited to your thoughts though and you can also drag and drop files, such as web pages and connect them together.

Surprisingly, PersonalBrain will only let you export your mind maps in HTML, when it would have been nice to have a choice of OPML and text among others.

Collanos Workplace is a simple productivity tool to improve the workflow on projects.

The program is specifically focused on project management, and allows you to save all your material (emails, graphs, reports and the likes) into one place. You can create multiple tabbed workplaces, which is a good way of separating your different projects yet having access to them anytime. Changes made to projects by anyone are immediately visible in the interface, as is the availability of team members.

Collanos Workplace is available for PC, Mac and Linux, so you can use it with any OS and still share project information with other team members. Collanos Workplace can be used offline and will automatically syn new information as soon as you get back online. Another way to communicate is by using the Team Instant Messenger environment, represented by the discussions pane at the bottom.

The closed environment that is Collanos Workplace is its true strength and weakness. To be able to manage your projects and keep a solid organization it's important to have every team member and feature under one system. However that also means you'll have to put up with all the tools, even if there are some you don't enjoy working with.

The application was easy to use, and I could see it being easily implemented to any organization. However it did feel a little slow at times. Apart from the startup login, I was also a bit surprised not too find more security settings to protect your projects.

project management software is often complex and expensive but that's not the case with GanttPV. With GanttPV managers can define tasks, task durations, dependencies, start dates, and holidays. Based on this information GanttPV calculates task end dates and creates a "Gantt chart" that can be used to communicate when project tasks should be completed.

The program helpz you think through task assignments by allowing you to identify resources and assign resources to tasks on multiple projects. It allocates hours to each assigned resource and calculates summary totals by Task, by Resource, and by Day and Week. Afterwards, Gantt helps you identify and prioritize all of the follow up activities necessary to keep multiple projects moving forward. It can also be used to monitor team productivity and expenses and calculate the earned value hours.

For a free piece of software, this is an excellent project manager that will help most project managers improve their team's productivity.

The program offers a complete project management, meetings, tasks and arrangements planning tool on one.

Dolphinity Planner displays all information in a very clear, concise way classified into three groups - projects scheduled, pending projects and tasks "to-do". It also has a handy roadmap where you can see projects that need to be carried out during each period, the initials of the person responsible, and the start and end dates for the project. From the list of resources, you can assign each project to a person. This person may be internal or external and in addition, through its filters, you can easily see which tasks assigned to each employee.

For a free program, this is a remarkably good spreadsheet and planning program although it lacks advanced features for those that are running bigger projects.
