Being thirty something, I still enjoy music from a few decades ago, like the 80s and the 70s. This is why I was so happy to find TinyWebRadio, an audio player that has been especially created to let you enjoy good ol' hits using today's technology.

Keeping track of your favourite podcasts is never easy and if you're away from the PC, it's nice to know that something is taking care of it for you.

That's where IRadio comes in - an excellent and good looking podcast ripper that tracks broadcasts. Unfortunately, it seems fairly limited in terms of the broadcasts it can track which are mainly ShoutCast and Live365 streams. However, this still comprises thousands of stations that allow you to initiate and record streams. The program tags your track according to their meta data but it can only save them as Mp3 files which is not a problem unless you need them in WAV or a custom format. In addition, the number of times you can copy the files is also limited. On the plus side, the bit-rate is a healthy 192 Kbs and burning CDs on Napster is really easy, involving just a few button clicks and some simple steps to configure your preferences and there are no limits on how many times you can burn a file.

Overall, Napster has come a long way since its early days in the late 1990s and is a worthy competitor to iTunes. However, if only there was less DRM on their files, it would score much more highly.

Viva Radio is a web radio that broadcasts lots of good indie, leftfield and electro tracks among others. Even though it has a programme schedule set up, you can tune in any time of the day and listen to it. With the standalone player you don't have to leave it open in your browser and can activate it from your desktop.

Although Viva Radio is a very basic standalone player, with no controls whatsoever except for the mute button, it features exactly the same elements as the webpage itself. The left side of the interface shows the programme schedule, the center part is the playlist and the current song, while the bottom and right are essentially ads and links to galleries. You'll need to have a version of Flash set up to activate the player. In all Viva Radio streams well and provides you with a great source of original music.

RaimaRadio looks quite promising at the beginning, with a nicely designed interface and lots of radio stations to choose from. The problem is that many of them aren't working. I tried as many genres as I could and I always got some unavailable channels. Well, maybe today isn't my lucky day.

As I said before, the program features a nice interface, although it only works at its best when it's maximized. If not, windows and boxes don't resize properly and information overlaps.
