http://clive-barkers-jericho.en.softonic.com

When I was little I used to play Alone in the Dark on my brother's PC and I was scared to death, especially if I played at night. Now I find Alone's graphics hilarious and I wonder how I would have felt if I played Clive Barker's Jericho instead.

I warn you: this is probably one of the scariest games you've ever seen, so don't play it at night. The demo allows you to play one single level, but that's enough to feel like you're starring a horror movie.

Inside those dark and pestilent sewers, you'll experience anguish when hearing approaching steps and fear when facing unknown monsters; you'll feel strange noises and see putrid corpses on the floors.

But you've got an ace up your sleeve: as the game allows you to control the whole team, you'll be able to switch between team members and test their different abilities, such as moving objects or even healing other team members.

Unfortunately our gaming PC fell a bit short of the system requirements, but overall I was able to get a very good impression of the game's amazing graphics.

Download Clive Barker's Jericho in Softonic

Zombie Shooter-Can you take on the zombies?

http://zombie-shooter.en.softonic.com

Zombie Shooter is an action game based on a simple premise - mad scientists have unleashed zombies on the world and now you have to stop them.

The scientists created the zombies in a hidden laboratory and you are one of the few people who can save mankind from their mistake. The game is very similar to Gauntlet although there have been some changes. You are soldier armed to the teeth with weapons, mainly pistols, rifles and explosives but the basics are the same. As in Gauntlet however, the enemies do not have any kind of Artificial Intelligence, but they are constantly launched against you in a mass suicide pact.

The graphics are incredibly detailed although you'll need good eyesight because the top down view is very distant. You have 10 types of weapon and you can boost your character by improving the character’s skills along your way and allows you to upgrade available arms with the money earned. You can also practice your killing skills in two modes - survival and gun stand.

If you like the sim-city style graphics and have something against zombies, you'll enjoy this although it takes a long time to get anywhere so make sure you've got a few hours spare per session.

Download Zombie Shooter in Softonic

http://dead-space-2.en.softonic.com

Dead Space 2 is the gory, horror sci-fi game. Isaac Clarke is the hero, and has to save the city of Sprawl from necromorph infestation.

The original was one of the best horror games of recent years, and Dead Space 2 promises to be a bigger, better and more action packed ride. The scale of the game is much greater, with some really epic sequences alongside the claustrophobic, dark indoor parts.

Dead Space 2 also features multiplayer, and players can finally take control of the necromorphs! A team of humans and necromorphs fight it out over five objective-based scenarios. The necromorphs come in four types in multiplayer, including the new 'puker'. This should make for some interesting tactical multiplayer gameplay, although it probably won't be quite as tense and terrifying as the single player campaign.

Dead Space 2 is an early contender for most terrifying game of 2011

Download Dead Space 2 in Softonic

http://f-e-a-r-perseus-mandate.en.softonic.com

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate is a new chapter in the F.E.A.R. trilogy which offers all the original thrills of the first game but brings a new scenario and new missions to complete. Possibly the major difference you'll notice however is that this chapter is considerably quicker than the original.

Like in the original game, in F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate you use a range of specialised arms and a few added physical extensions that enable to dodge enemy bullets and hunt the haunted spirits which follow you throughout the game. In fact, this is a genuinely haunting game and lives up to the F.E.A.R. tag. The game employs what the developers call "rag-doll" graphics meaning that when you shoot someone, the physical reactions are incredibly realistic.

Add this to the arsenal of weapons you can choose from such as particle beam weapons and laser guns, you'll have fun simply blowing the hell out of people. Be warned though that the difficulty level is very high on this chapter and you'll do well to even pass the first stage on your first few games.

A great first person combat game that will have you hooked and haunted for hours.

Download <a title="F.E.A.R.
Dead Space-A terrifying space adventure

http://dead-space.en.softonic.com

Dead Space is a third-person survival horror game set on a mining space craft, the US Ishimura. It has been overrun by bizarre mutant aliens that have harvested the bodies of the human crew and morphed them into sick and bizarre monsters.

From the opening moments of Dead Space, the beautiful and detailed graphics are immediately apparent. It is one of the most impressive visual experiences around. It is also one of the more scary gaming experiences, full of gore and frights.

One of the most innovative things about Dead Space is its interface - there is no traditional head-up display on the screen - everything you need to know is shown on the main character's suit. The controls are well thought out, and the sound is excellent, with some pretty haunting and memorable effects along the way.

After the opening parts of Dead Space, a few of the tasks you have to undertake start to feel a bit forced, and too much of the story is spent running errands to fix various parts of the ship so you can escape.

Despite a slow middle section, Dead Space is one of the most tense, frightening and exciting survival horror games you'll play, and if you can take the frights, some of it is extraordinarily beautiful

Download Dead Space in Softonic

Legendary Demo-Save humankind from a werewolf invasion

http://legendary.en.softonic.com

Werewolves are mythological creatures that only exist in horror stories for teenagers. Or at least that's what you thought.

But now werewolves, griffins and other horrifying creatures have come to life because of you, which means you're the only one who can save humankind from this dreadful threat and restore everything back to normal.

This is the main story behind Legendary, a frantic adventure that mixes action, horror and myth in an exciting first-person shooter. Using the Unreal engine, Legendary provides you with an immersive experience set in today's world, only that instead of fighting enemy soldiers or terrorist groups, you have to kill werewolves, griffins and other nasty creatures.

Legendary features excellent graphics and physics, and is especially brilliant in the recreation of scenes and locations. Enemy creatures on the contrary don't seem that realistic – though maybe that was the intention when creating them. As for playability, Legendary is packed with action: you need to be moving constantly, watching out for more monsters to kick, spotting possible hide-outs, looking upwards in case they're stalking you from the rooftops… In short, it has all the ingredients to please FPS fans – as long as you have the proper hardware to run the game.

Legendary is an original action shooter in which you have to fight against werewolves, griffons and other fantasy creatures to save humankind from destruction.

Download Legendary Demo in Softonic

Bioshock Demo-Welcome to Rapture, welcome to terror

http://bioshock.en.softonic.com

After reading a lot about this game I was looking forward to test it and I must say I'm still impressed. It makes you feel like you were right in the middle of a terror movie.

Bioshock doesn't make things easy for you. First of all, you'll need a high performance computer in order to properly enjoy it. Then, besides hardware requirements, the adventure begins with a terrible airplane accident from which you're the only survivor. Confusion and anguish will seize you while you desperately try to survive. When you finally find a mysterious platform in the middle of the ocean, the real adventure is just about to begin. Bioshock mixes action, terror and puzzles to build a highly elaborated, absorbing plot that will get you hooked.

The game is easy to control, with the usual WASD keyboard combination. Regarding graphics, Bioshock justifies its hardware demands by offering an excellent quality and a high level of detail. Music adds the final touch to an action-packed, terror adventure you won't easily forget.

Download Bioshock Demo in Softonic

Left 4 Dead-Zombies! Panic!

http://left-4-dead.en.softonic.com

Left 4 Dead is the new survival multiplayer FPS from Valve, makers of the Half Life series. It drops you into scenarios full of infected zombies, with three other survivors. The zombies, like in the horror movie 28 Days Later, are not the lumbering monsters of old, but lightening fast, and run at you on sight. The first time this happens to you in the game it leaves an impression.

The game starts at night, as you and your team try to get to the subway from a roof. As you enter the first building, you can only see with your torch beam. Lightening reactions are necessary to whirl round and dispatch the zombies that hurtle towards you. The only time you'll feel at all comfortable is when you whole team is firing, giving you enough light to see by.

We played the Left 4 Dead demo with one player, so the rest of the team was AI controlled. They seem quite effective, though obviously it will be better with four humans. Keyboard and mouse controls work perfectly well, the graphics and physics are great and the sound is terrifyingly good. Guns sound great, the only reassuring sound in the game, and the moans and groans of distant and unfortunately not distant enough zombies keep up the tension.

Left 4 Dead is definitely an adult game, with a lot of blood, gore and expletives. Fans of horror will love it, unless you're of the opinion that running zombies are an offense to zombie-lore in general. The speed of your attackers give the game a real sense of panic, indeed you find yourself shooting out of fright more than anything else.

Left 4 Dead is a fantastic, fast paced and horrifying first person shooter, which deserves to be played by everyone who dares.

Download Left 4 Dead in Softonic

SCP – Containment Breach 0.2.1-A terryfying free horror game

http://scp--containment-breach.en.softonic.com

SCP – Containment Breach puts you in a 'containment facility', which is holding a strange and unnerving entity called SCP-173, a sculpture monster that can only move when not in direct line of sight. When unseen, it is extremely hostile and dangerous.

Based on the stories of SCP, like <taglink type="program" country="en" id="3338390">SCP-087</taglink> and <taglink type="program" country="en" id="3347921">SCP-087-B</taglink><taglink type="program" country="en" id="3349590"><taglink type="program" country="en" id="3338390"></taglink></taglink>, SCP – Containment Breach has the same tense, chilling atmosphere. But Containment Breach is much more immediate, as you see your monster right at the start. The monster is a strange looking figure, and this adds to its scariness, much like in the popular Slender game. At the beginning of the game, you are one of three people assigned to go into the chamber. Three is supposed to ensure the monster has direct eye contact at all times, and so cannot attack. Of course, something goes wrong!

Once the accident happens, the scares jump right up, leaving you in an apparently deserted and dark facility, with the monster loose and nothing to defend yourself. Worse still, there are more unpleasant things waiting for you in the darkness.

This alpha version has no ending, in fact you cannot escape or beat the game at the moment. Despite this, SCP – Containment Breach is great for horror fans. It's scary, tense and eventually you might prefer to just relax and exit the game! The graphics are functional, but outdated, and the character models right at the start of the game aren't well animated. You'll soon stop caring about this though, as you'll have bigger, and scarier concerns once the lights go out.

If you like being scared, free horror game SCP – Containment Breach will deliver the chills. It's more gruesome than <taglink type="program" country="en" id="3347921">Slender</taglink>, while offering a similarly disturbing monster.

Download SCP – Containment Breach 0.2.1 in Softonic

Amnesia: The Dark Descent-Can you keep your sanity in this terrifying horror game?

http://amnesia-the-dark-descent.en.softonic.com

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a first person horror game set in the 19th Century. You play as Daniel, who wakes up with amnesia in a dark Prussian castle. Finding out how you got there becomes possibly the scariest video game you'll ever play.

The core gameplay of Amnesia: The Dark Descent is exploration, puzzle solving and avoiding monsters. The horrors Daniel confronts threaten his sanity, so must be avoided as much as possible. This is a challenge in itself, and you may also find controlling your own fear becomes too much!

The scariest PC game ever?

Daniel can't fight the monsters he encounters, and if he fails to avoid them, he must run away into the darkness to hide. This can make Amnesia: The Dark Descent a very panicky game, as running blindly into the dark is exactly what you don't want to do! The graphics are dark and atmospheric, but its the sound that makes Amnesia: The Dark Descent truly horrifying. The moans, screams and other effects really heighten your sense of dread and are beautifully timed for maximum effect.

There are multiple endings to Amnesia: The Dark Descent, so you can play through more than once if you dare. The tension and scares never let up and, unlike some horror games, the gameplay never gets in the way of the terror either. As well as sounds and shocks, the story in Amnesia: The Dark Descent is disturbing, and learning the truth about Daniel's amnesia is horrifying enough even without the monsters and darkness.

If you are a fan of horror games, Amnesia: The Dark Descent is an essential game. I can promise you won't be disappointed.

Download Amnesia: The Dark Descent in Softonic

Left 4 Dead 2-Fight off the infected...

http://left-4-dead-2.en.softonic.com

Left 4 Dead 2 is a single and multiplayer action-packed first person shooter, where you have to survive a zombie apocalypse in a series of movie-like episodes.

For the uninitiated, the first Left 4 Dead took the survival horror of Resident Evil, and wrenched it into a post "28 Days Later" zombie world. The zombies, or 'infected' in Left 4 Dead 2 are no lumbering, groaning shuffling monsters. These are athletic, fast moving beings that dash towards you when they see or hear you. This sequel promises to build on that formula, with new weapons, scenarios and of course... new zombies!

This Left 4 Dead 2 demo lets you play one campaign, entitled "The Parish" either in one player mode (with three AI companions), or online with four players fighting to survive together. The latter gives you a more dynamic game, but both Left 4 Dead 2 modes have as much atmosphere, stress and of course blood and gore as anyone could wish for!

No one play-through seems to be the same, making repeated play very attractive. You may know where you're going, but you can't predict what's going to happen in Left 4 Dead 2. With multiplayer this is even more apparent, and it really is the better experience.

It looks like Left 4 Dead 2 is cementing its supremacy over the aged, lumbering Resident Evil series - these zombies are varied, fast moving and extremely vicious. There's really nothing like the moments when a horde of zombies are rushing towards you, it's one of the most visceral, adrenalin pumping creations in gaming's history.

This is a great demo of what looks like being a fantastic and worthy sequel. There's little to criticize, unless you don't like what it offers. Resident Evil is a more tense affair, and the story in Left 4 Dead 2 isn't the most subtle, but that's not what this game is about.

Fantastic cooperative multiplayer, adrenalin filled gory gameplay and crowds of rushing zombie hordes: Left 4 Dead 2 is incredible.

Download Left 4 Dead 2 in Softonic

If you found Bioshock too short and you’re already missing the terrifying, insane environment of Rapture, here’s what you’ve been waiting for: Bioshock 2, the sequel to this amazing title developed by 2K Games.

Bioshock 2 has been designed along the lines of the first title in the saga. The game’s action is set in a dark, decadent submarine city that was once a thriving metropolis with all sorts of cutting-edge technology.

However, there’s one big difference: in Bioshock 2, your character is one of those Bid Daddies you were fighting in the first installment of the saga, and your aim is precisely to find the Little Sister you were paired with. Along the adventure in Bioshock 2 you’ll receive intelligence from various sources in order to solve the mysteries of Rapture, though you must bear in mind that the information you get may be false or misleading.

Like the first part, Bioshiock 2 features highly detailed, impressive graphics and an attractive mixture of action and exploration. You’ll have to solve various puzzles and riddles, while fighting all sorts of creatures and improving your capabilities thanks to ADAM. Also, Bioshock 2 gives you the chance to play against other player in various game modes and scenarios, thanks to the new multiplayer games.

Bioshock 2 includes all the elements that made of the first part of this saga an incredibly successful title: amazing graphics, great plot and a breath-taking environment.

Download Bioshock 2 in Softonic
