The universe in which Nitronic Rush is set is futuristic, right down to your race car's ability to fly, if necessary. As such, it has a unique feel all its own compared to more traditional racing games.

The track layout in Nitronic Rush is very much like that of a rollercoaster, defying gravity and sending you on a wild racing ride. Ramps, loops and sections of the track that don't even have a solid road are some of the elements of Nitronic Rush that really make it stand out.

Nitronic Rush's circuits are also full of dangerous obstacles to avoid. Saws ready to cut you into a thousand pieces, walls that suddenly appear in your way, giant fans set to blow you off-course and more are all pitfalls in this game that you'll have to overcome in order to prevail and finish the race.

The cars in Nitronic Rush are also unconventional. Fortunately, there's a comprehensive tutorial that'll teach you how to jump, fly and propel the vehicle forward. Controlling your car can be a little challenging at first until you've memorized the commands.

It's also a shame there are only two car models to choose from. Nitronic Rush has such fantastic and engaging graphics that it would've been nice to get to peruse through a larger collection of cars to choose from.

Driving at over 250 miles per hour is an experience that's difficult to forget. Like its predecessor, RaceRoom, fans of high speed circuit racing have a lot to appreciate with RaceRoom The Game 2. If you want to get a taste of the racing life and compete with players from other countries without leaving home, RaceRoom The Game 2 is a great option.

RaceRoom The Game 2 features many different racing circuits, as well as three game modes that include the classic Quick Race, the counter-clockwise Time Attack and Challenge, which pits you against other players from the internet.

There are also some fun model race cars featured in RaceRoom The Game 2, from the Chevrolet Camaro to the BMW 320si E90 and RR1. All you have to do is choose your favorite, step on the gas and race to victory.

RaceRoom The Game 2's graphics are very crisp and of good quality. The game faithfully reproduces the layout of popular racing circuits like Nuremberg, Imola and Laguna Seca. It's just too bad the racing physics is a little rough and the cars don't suffer damage when they get hit or end up in an accident.

If you like your racing games fast-paced though, RaceRoom The Game 2 is a high quality, full speed pick.

In Extreme Motorbikers, you'll have to contend with a radical, treacherous race track, where you can easily fall to your death from the roads, which soar into the sky. They're also full of obstacles and problems, meaning you'll have to avoid barrels that could knock you into the abyss or even explode. Add that to the fact that your fellow racers aren't adverse to a few low blows, and you've got your work cut out.

Extreme Motorbikers works more or less like Formula 1 and is divided in stages. At the start, you'll have access to the Summer Cup. There are also two other stages, fall and winter, which will be unlocked as you progress through the game.

Bikes and Controls

Don't expect any superbikes when you're playing Extreme Motorbikers. The model you start out with is pretty basic. As you progress, you'll get better, more powerful bikes, but the focus here isn't really your vehicle - it's the barren, jaw-dropping tracks.

As well as basic direction and speed controls, Extreme Motorbikers has various shortcuts on offer - and you're going to need them. The drivers in Extreme Motorbikers play dirty and the only way you're going to get through is by using some slick moves to throw them off.

If you love racing games and are craving a bit of real action, Extreme Motorbikers should definitely be your next move.

If you're a fan of games like Mario Kart XP or Mario Kart 360, Dirchie Kart is of a similar nature and spirit. It's a remix of 16-bit kart racing games of days past that still provides fun for racing kart fans of all ages.

There are eight different cars and characters you can opt to race with in Dirchie Kart. Each car has its own quirks and peculiarities, which make the game more unique and fun. Before each game, you can also choose up to three weapons to use against your opponents during the race.

There are three types of competitions to race in with Dirchie Kart: Economy, Grand Prix and Retro Remix. The Grand Prix option actually plays real Formula 1 circuits, which will be a plus for fans of that type of racing.

Unfortunately, Dirchie Kart's graphics really aren't all that impressive. Some users might be turned off by their simplicity. It's the circuits and variety of cars to choose from that are Dirchie Kart's strong suits though, and in those areas the game definitely doesn't disappoint.

If you can get past unimpressive graphics, Dirchie Kart provides tons of racing fun for players of all ages.

Winning the race in terms of speed isn't the only way to win points and races when you're playing Ignite. The game also rewards the best tricks on the track, and the most stylish way you get over obstacles. Fun is guaranteed!

Game Modes

Ignite features three different game modes: "Run-Out," "Knock-Out" and "Race Mode". In the first, every mistake you make loses points, while in the second, the last car to complete each lap is eliminated. Race Mode is a traditional race where the objective is to arrive first and win the highest points.

Crashes and car types

Crashing into rival cars can be a good tactic to gain points in Ignite. But beware - with each collision, the car gets smashed up, loses power and becomes more difficult to control. Ignite features three types of car: "Muscle" (tuned vehicles), "Race" (special racing cars) and "Street" (the most common), each with its own acceleration, speed and control characteristics.

If you're a big racing fan, you've probably gone through all of the popular street racing games for PCs already. Now's your chance to race in the future on several fun, technologically advantage race tracks in Speed Racers.

In Speed Racers one of your main concerns is being faster than your opponents. That's just the start of it though. Speed Racers also requires you to avoid a myriad of obstacles that show up on and around your track, such as holes that'll throw you right out of the sky itself.

Speed Racers' graphics are pretty good. The cars are crisp and interesting to look at, although there could definitely be more defined details. In addition, some of Speed Racers' tracks will keep you at the edge of your seat until you make it to the finish line, assuming you actually do! The obstacles thrown at you make the tracks challenging and fun to try to make it through.

Unfortunately Speed Racers can get repetitive after playing it for awhile. Some of the modes you can choose to play in Career player are also a bit disappointing and dull, providing no real unique experiences you couldn't find in other racing games. There's also no real underlying story in Speed Racers like some of the more intense games provide for you to get behind.

Speed Racers is good, solid and futuristic racing fun, but doesn't bring anything extra to the table beyond that.

For a game that's completely free of change, this Superbike Racers is a little gem. The graphics are good, the game is fast-paced and easy to get into, and the controls can be managed by even the very young.

To keep things interesting, Superbike Racers offers various modes and options. There are two tracks for you to ride on, four bikes for you to choose from - the Rapida, Supera or Hypera - and three game modes for you to test your skill against; single race, time attack or competition.

Superbike Racers' options are unlocked as you progress through the game, completing various challenges, so to start with you only have the most basic. There's an option to change the difficulty level too, if you need it, and everyone will enjoy the game's soundtrack, which is suitably fast-paced.

In all, Superbike Racers is a fun game that's very honest in its intentions. While the graphics and gameplay fall short of high-budget classics like Need for Speed, it is completely free and as such is actually a pretty impressive game.

Turbo OutRun

Need for Speed The Run is essentially a race across America, from San Francisco to New York, against a huge number of opponents and the police. The desert race we played actually looked much like Hot Pursuit, and the boost charged by dangerous behavior also makes The Run feel very similar. This is a Need for Speed game, so obviously the emphasis is on fast, good-looking arcade racing, and it certainly delivers.

A worthy successor?

However, what we saw of Need for Speed The Run didn’t blow us away. It didn’t feel quite as visceral as Hot Pursuit, and while the opponents were quite aggressive, the game did seem pretty easy. Unless we see some major improvements or innovations, unfortunately it looks like Need for Speed may have slipped back into lazy sequels. There’s still plenty more to be seen from the game, with a wide variety of environments promised, so lets hope the next time we see it it will impress more. Need for Speed The Run is scheduled for a November 15th release.

New Features

Graphically even more polished than before, and with some subtle but important car handling changes, F1 2011 looks like an incremental improvement rather than a revolution. However, 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' as the saying goes, and Codemasters have added some important features that make this game a worthy successor.

In terms of realism, there is now an optional safety car for people who want the full F1 experience, and the KERS and DRS systems have been introduced too. The first gives drivers a quick power boost for overtaking, while DRS allows drag to be reduced while racing, again giving a possible speed boost.

Multiplayer is still excellent, and now features split-screen mode. There are two new circuits, the Nurburgring and Buddh International Circuit.

Be the driver

Like its predecessor, and other Codemasters racing games, F1 2011 houses its career in an attractive motor-home which acts as your menu hub. It looks good, but means getting to the action is longer than it needs to be. Careers are still excellent though, and you can tailor the difficulty and detail to your wishes, which will keep everyone happy. Driving manually while using KERS and DRS is certainly a challenge, but the great thing about F1 2011 is that you don't have to make things that tough! The artificial intelligence of other cars is great, giving you interesting and fun competition even in one player mode.

Conclusion

F1 2011 is more of an evolution than a revolution, but that still makes it an excellent game. The sense of speed is maybe unparalleled, while the rain effect is absolutely gorgeous. Codemasters have taken a sport which can often feel dry and unwelcoming, and made it dynamic, visceral and exciting. We think F1 2011 is possibly the best looking racing game around, and will please hardcore fans and newcomers alike.

There are three different game modes to test you, namely: Time Trial, Quick Race and Grand Prix. Unfortunately, there's no equivilent of Mario Kart's Battle Mode, which is still my favourite part of the game.
Also, as the game is still in development, there are a few glitches such as the fact that some of the levels take a long time to load.
However, anyone who enjoyed playing Mario Kart will find this an amusing diversion.
