Although not particularly advanced, the built-in email client is useful for sending out information from within the application. It's particualrly great for jotting down your thoughts in the text editor then sharing them with others without having to wade through multiple programs. Handily, OrganizeME places itself in the System Tray, meaning it's always on hand whenever you have an important note to take down or if you quickly want to send an email. What's more, the easy-to-configure alarm is great for reminding you of tasks or appointments throught the day.

myPortablePIM is a surprisingly feature rich agenda that doesn't require installation and can be run from a USB memory stick or any other portable device. It includes a calendar, a task list, a contact manager and tools to handle quick notes and alarms. All the included functions in myPortablePIM are very easy to configure and use.

Besides these basic features, myPortablePIM also has other more original functions, such as a program launcher, an RSS feeds reader, a weather forecast utility and a tool to remotely access your Gmail inbox.

It all seems very promising in myPortablePIM: a portable information manager you can run from a simple USB key, with lots of interesting tools. But unfortunately myPortablePIM is let down by its incredible memory usage – enough to freeze an older PC.

I have reviewed lots of planners and one thing I have learned is that a lot of them are very, very complex. That's great if you like the control that filling in a million tiny boxes gives you, but some of us, myself included, would just prefer a slightly simpler approach. Gljakal's To Do provides that alternative.

This application comes with a nice, clean interface and a number of options that will keep you as productive as possible. You can edit the Gljakal's To Do interface and task entries as much as you want, adding detail and formatting and applying a due date. You can also prioritize your to-do list, and receive a summary of pending tasks when you start the program. To make matters even easier, Gljakal's To Do has an autosave option and a search function, perfect for when you have added a lot of tasks to the program and need to find one in particular.

Gljakal's To Do has no email integration or contacts function, but in my opinion, that's actually a plus. If you are looking for something that simply records what you have to do and tells you when it is due, this program is perfect. It is easy on the eye and has enough extra functions to make using Gljakal's To Do a comfortable experience for those who like to keep things simple.

Gljakal's To Do is a minimalist to-do application that will keep your life under uncomplicated control.

EssentialPIM Free can securely schedule your day, manage your contacts, keep track of your To Do plans and organize your notes. EssentialPIM's interface is very similar to Outlook, and is clean and well organized. You can use the left sidebar to change between the program's utilities, and all the details are displayed on the right hand side.

The tools included in EssentialPIM Free are easy to use, and have pretty much everything you need to organize your daily work. Schedule displays a calendar with different background colors and symbols that indicate frequency and degree of completion; Notes lets you add notes with pictures, rich-format text, tables and symbols; and with Contacts you can easily keep a list of all your friends and colleagues, with highly customizable information fields.

EssentialPIM Free does feature a large variety of options, but it's only when you take a deeper look that you realize that many of them are only available in the Pro version – which is kind of disappointing.

EssentialPIM Free is a useful application. Sadly only the Pro version has all the great scheduling options.
