My sister, who actually works in a bank, is always saying that she would love to be a truck driver and travel all over Europe. I guess she's the kind of person that would love to play Euro Truck Simulator.

This driving simulator puts you behind the wheel of a powerful truck and entrusts you with several different missions. These usually consist on taking cargo from one place to another and getting paid for the delivery. Saving enough money you will eventually be able to buy better and faster trucks to be able to work more and earn more money.

I find the main idea in Euro Truck Simulator is quite original. We're somewhat used to car, motorbike and even airplane driving simulators, but not that much to trucks. Also, the game features excellent, highly realistic graphics.

So far, so good. The problem is that Euro Truck Simulator becomes a boring game quite easily. I don't know if it was due to the repetitive sound of the engine, the slowness of my driving or the lack of real action, I started feeling sleepy shortly after starting to play. Maybe if you could play your own music on the truck's radio, or get into some more action by delivering illegal stuff and occasionally being chased by the cops, Euro Truck Simulator would be more exciting. Also, I didn't like the fact that I can't choose the UK as the starting country for my career as truck driver!

Euro Truck Simulator is a pretty original game, with especially outstanding graphics, but which gets boring quite easily.

If like me you loved Evil Knievel as a kid, then you may well love Dangerous Road which is a fast action, rip roaring motorbike racing game.

Well Dangerous Road is not exactly a racing game - it's more a case of racing like mad along a busy highway that is genuinely dangerous. In your way are all kinds of obstacles from trucks to pedestrians but you can use the "Ctrl" key to scroll through a variety of weapons and shoot them off the road.

The gameplay of Dangerous Road is lightening fast but it reminds you a bit of one of those early handheld console games where the scenery never changes and it seems to be on some kind of loop so it can get rather boring after prolonged play. However, if you do persevere and your score is among the Top 10, you can upload it to the Dangerous Road website to compare yourself with hundreds of other players across the world.

Dangerous Road is not exactly a racing classic and it could do with a little more variation in scenery and challenge but bike racing enthusiasts are sure to find some appeal.

Working as a bus driver doesn't sound like an exciting job to me; at least not exciting enough to be part of a game, where you usually play as soldier, detective, mafia member and the likes. But someone must disagree with me as now you can also pretend to be a bus driver in Bus Simulator 2008.

This game puts you behind the steering wheel of a traditional urban bus and challenges you to complete "missions", that is, complete any of the city routes that bus must follow. But the game is not only a driving simulator, meaning you'll have to take care of the business by deciding the price of tickets or renting the vehicle's ad spaces to make them more profitable.

Driving a bus is not as easy as it seems at first sight: not only you have to find your way in an unknown city (note you can open the map with the M key) but you also have to stop at every single bus stop in your route, open and close the doors and follow your way to the next one. Also, don't forget to respect road signs: I didn't stop for any red light (too much GTA IV is seriously affecting my driving style, luckily only the virtual one) and got fired in about 5 minutes.

Graphics in Bus Simulator 2008 are just fine; quite realistic, but certainly not the best ones I've seen. Physics is not very elaborate, especially when it comes to crashing against objects or other cars (hey, don't laugh at me: I'm not that bad at driving, I just have to test everything!). Other than that, it's just an original game that seems as exciting as driving a bus in real life.

The main feature in Bus Simulator 2008 is undoubtedly its originality; apart from that, it's just a standard driving simulator with some business management tools that may entertain you for a short while.

You've probably seen a ton of online racing games already, but Trackmania Nations Forever is quite different from anything you have seen so far.

To begin with, this great game is completely free. No trial periods, no disabled functions, no nagging windows. It's for you to play and enjoy for free, as long as you want, as much as you feel like it. Also, Trackmania Nations Forever is not that much about arriving first to the finish line, but rather about having fun along the way; hence the extensive social component of the game and the incredible jumps and spins you'll be able to perform. Last, but not least, it also enables you to customize the game, featuring a complete editor with which you can create not only tracks, but also design your very own car.

Trackmania Nations Forever includes three different gaming modes (Solo, Online and Party play) which give you a different approach to the game: you can either play against the PC and try to break your personal records, play with friends on the same computer or in a local area network or play against other Trackmania drivers from all over the world with its superb online multiplayer mode. The Solo mode works with a system based on medals (the best your racing times are, the more medals you get and the more tracks you unlock) while the Online mode uses a worldwide ranking to measure players's achievements.

In a way, we could say that the most important element in Trackmania Nations Forever is gameplay. Everything has been carefully planned and designed to be as easy for the player as possible: for example, you can register your profile by simple filling in a two-field form, or control the car with just the arrow keys. This simplicity is what makes the game so much fun and so wickedly addictive.

Despite this apparent simplicity, however, you'll find a very elaborate game. Track and car design are simple, but realistic and very accurate. An excellent soundtrack adds the final touch to a game that, in my opinion, sets a turning point in online racing games.

Trackmania Nations Forever is probably one of the greatest online racing games you'll ever see: fun races, customizable elements, an extensive user community and excellent gameplay.

Racer is a free cross-platform car simulation project (for non-commercial use), using professional car physics papers to achieve a realistic feeling. Cars, tracks and such can be created relatively easy (compared to other, more closed, driving simulations). The 3D and other file formats are, or should be, documented.

Editors and support programs are also available to get a very customizable and expandable simulator. OpenGL is used for rendering.

The aim in this game is to give reins to your designing capabilities and create the most winding and intricate track you're capable of. You have all the necessary materials and elements at your disposal and the only limit is your own imagination. After your track is finished, why not testing it for yourself? Simply choose among several different vehicles and have a ride. What's more, you can record your own performance and review it later on from different camera angles.

Stunt Playground includes some ready-to-use tracks ("arenas") for you to get started. Gameplay in itself is quite simple, with arrow keys to control the car and sudden movements. Graphics aren't great either – but then again, it's all about designing racing tracks.

Stunt Playground is not really a racing game, but a track designing tool that enables you to test your own creations.

Cars run on roads, planes fly through the skies.... well, not really. With Nitro Stunt Racing you'll fly with your car – literally.

In this racing simulator you sit behind the wheel of a powerful Formula Jet, a special racing vehicle equipped with a reactor that will enable you to perform the most incredible jumps ever. In fact, you spend half of the racing time on air! Luckily enough you can keep on controlling the car while flying to ensure a proper landing. Too bad I discovered this only after being disqualified for taking land on my car's roof. Hard as it may sound, the game is fairly easy to control and after just one race I was able to leave my only opponent behind quite often, sometimes even while flying over a bump which is probably the coolest way to overtake someone with your car. Just one tip: change the camera view with the C key; otherwise you won't be able to see the ground while you're on air and landing will be even worse.

On the downside, I was disappointed with the demo's incredibly strict limitations. You're limited not only to a single car and a single playing mode (duel) but also to a single track, something which particularly annoyed me because I wanted to try loops and this one track doesn't have any. At least the game features high-quality graphics and a well worked physics engine that delivers a very realistic speed sensation.

A very fun and original racing game from which unfortunately you'll catch only a brief glimpse due to demo limitations.

18 Wheels of Steel American Long Haul lets you drive one of those huge American trucks all over the United States, either in campaign mode or doing single missions. The first game mode involves being able to run your own truck company, whereas the second one puts you behind the wheel as a truck driver in charge of the most varied deliveries across the country.

I must admit I expected more from this game. The graphics are nice, but not brilliant. The music is only on while on menus and disappears during the game. However, what I didn't really like was the gameplay itself. The trucks are quite difficult to control (maybe due to the fact that I've never driven a truck in my whole life). I spent 10 minutes moving around the garage just to get my cargo trailer attached. Plus, campaign mode doesn't tell you what your missions or your aims are - or at least I wasn't able to find them in my notebook. In all, a somewhat disappointing title. You may as well give it a try and let us know what you think about it.

JelloCar is one of the weirdest racing games I've seen so far. In fact, it's a mixture between races and platforms, all designed in such a way that it looks like it's been all drawn by a small kid.

The aim is really simple: reach the end of each level, marked with a special sign. You'll have to avoid all sorts of obstacles along your way, sometimes taking advantage of physical laws. Also remember that you can transform your little car into a huge big-foot for a limited period of time, so that you can overcome obstacles more easily. In any case, you'll feel the car is simply too difficult to control as it behaves like real jelly.

The game includes a good number of levels, to which you can add your own after creating them with the embedded editor.

Try this strange combination of racing and platform games to live a completely different gaming experience.

Extreme Tux Racer is based on the original penguin skiing game Tux Racer, which was pretty much discontinued. A new group of developers have polished the old version a bit and have added a few new tracks and some mini-games to spice it up.

The result is a fun, easy racing game with both championship and quick race modes that will put your speeding and sliding abilities to test. The game, however, seems to have been designed especially for kids as it soon turns out to be too easy and somewhat repetitive.

Come on baby is a free online racing game from the creator of Fantasy Tennis and Audition Online. Having these predecessors, I was looking forward to installing and testing this game, but sadly Come on baby fell way too short of what we expected it to be.

First of all, the game has some graphical issues, especially when rendering fonts: small sized text can hardly be read at all. Although this doesn't interfere with gameplay, it does make it very difficult when you're doing the tutorial levels or when you need to follow certain instructions.

That said, Come on baby shows off a fun, colorful design both in characters and scenarios, only that I personally found them a bit childish. Cars –well, actually baby walkers- are easy to manage and respond very well to controls. Besides practicing and racing on your own, you can compete against other players worldwide in online races, but unfortunately chat rooms were empty and we couldn't find appropriate competitor.

In any case, bear in mind that Come on Baby is still at beta stage in development, so hopefully the author will put some effort in solving these issues and make the whole game experience a lot better.

Chromadome is a blistering journey through another dimension and brings together all the great elements of space racing. Although the tracks start off quite simple, they soon develop into monstrous beasts that involve loop the loops, ramps and obstacles.

What you'll notice from the start is that the graphics are super fast. You'll have trouble keeping up with the pace from the off although the first few levels are straightforward. There are holes and walls to avoid plus the ever present danger of over heating your craft.

There are 100 levels according to the developer although you can't help feeling they could have halved this and made the first 10 a bit more difficult. However, if you like space age fun fast and furious, you need look no further than this game.

There's something special about trucks that makes us feel somewhat jealous every time we find any on the road. If you ever felt the secret desire of becoming a truck driver, now it's your chance: play Mad Truckers and make your dream come true!

This simple game will let you take the wheel of a large truck and go along the road completing every mission you're requested to. There's a total of 15 missions in which you'll have to deliver all kinds of goods to their correspondent destination.

The gameplay is so easy that it tends to get boring. Sound effects don't help either, although the music soundtrack is not that bad. In any case, Mac Truckers is fun for a while, allowing you to drive a huge truck and get over any obstacle on the road.

Driving is a rather unusual car driving game where you must navigate a course without hitting obstacles, rather than having to race opponents opponent cars. The object is to avoid squashing the rabbits or hitting bombs, while steering around tight corners. You can pick up money and tools to repair damage or speed up the car.

This is far from a polished racing game in terms of graphics, and it has a very home-made feel to it. With its blocky graphics and horizontal scrolling it has the feel of an old Spectrum game, but this not necessarily a bad thing. The game is surprisingly addictive for a while, as you try to go as fast as possible without hitting anything.

Ultimately though, it lacks the longevity to make it something you'll come back to often. What's more, it's virtually impossible to navigate the course at top speed without ploughing into most corners or bowling over bunnies.

If you like powerful off-road cars and overcoming obstacles, then this is the game for you. With Mountain Car, you get a chance to test your driving skills in the most difficult of conditions and courses. Realistic settings, various obstacles and more are all presented in full 3D glory.

You need to be very cautious in order to overcome all obstacles and not overturn your vehicle. You must pass the entire route to proceed to another level. The passing of each level is facilitated by a certain amount of pre-given scores which diminish every second. The sooner you pass the track, the more you score.
