Terraria 1.1.2-Minecraft inspired 2D platform game

http://terraria.en.softonic.com

Terraria is a 2D platform game that tries to take the spirit of <taglink type="program" country="en" id="189271">Minecraft</taglink> and apply it to platform gaming - and does a pretty good job of it too.

Like Minecraft, in Terraria you can do pretty much anything you want to do with your tools and imagination. From digging deep underground and finding accessories and money to fighting-off a variety of enemies in numerous "biomes" and gathering wood, stone, ores and other resources, Terraria has an amazing level of depth that Minecraft fans will instantly recognize.

As in Minecraft, your basic aim in Terraria is to create your own world and defend it. You can build a house, a fort, a castle - pretty much anything you want with a little imagination. If you're lucky, people will move in to live in your world and trade with you to help expand your empire. Of course, like Minecraft, graphics are not the strength of Terraria but it's the sheer amount of possibilities and imagination that goes into the game that makes it so enthralling.

If you loved Minecraft, then you should definitely try Terraria.

Download Terraria 1.1.2 in Softonic

Icy Tower 1.5.1-Help Harold the Homeboy reach the top of the tower

http://icy-tower.en.softonic.com

Icy Tower looks like a game that could have been made ten years ago, and even then, wouldn’t have looked particularly impressive. The game play consists of the single-minded pursuit of reaching the top of the tower in which our homeboy finds himself by jumping onto the ledges throughout.

You can now play <taglink type="program" country="en" id="6652651">Icy Tower 2</taglink> free, for iOS devices!

At a time when every computer game released seems to add more levels of detail and complexity to the world of gaming, it’s good to see that some developers make the effort to bring out titles like Icy Tower, designed for a bit of mindless enjoyment.

It might not sound like much and frankly, it’s not. The only controls you need to play Icy Tower are left, right and jump. What makes this game fun is the speed of play, wacky sound effects and messed-up way that you can jump three stories at once if you happen to get the perfect run up! There are also a variety of Icy Tower characters that you can choose, download or even create yourself!

You gather points by beating the clock to the top of each Icy Tower level and by building jump combinations. The result is a quick, enjoyable game that you could load anytime and play for a minute or half-an-hour.

Icy Tower is an easy-to-pick-up platformer that is hugely addictive, despite its simplicity.

Download Icy Tower 1.5.1 in Softonic

Happy Wheels-Get to the finish line in one piece

http://happy-wheels.en.softonic.com

Happy Wheels is an arcade game game with a dark humorous twist.

In the spirit of games like QWOP, you control the character you're playing with various keys on your keyboard. These are fully customizable if you want to change them in your preferences. The object of Happy Wheels is to get your character through each level as quickly as possible while completing a variety of prompted tasks.

There are a variety of different levels in Happy Wheels where you can do anything from drive a race car to putter around on a segway. Controls are relatively easy, although it does take a few tries to figure out how to make your player move in the exact way you want him to. Every time you hit an obstacle in Happy Wheels, you'll be prompted with text to perform certain keyboard functions in order to move on.

Happy Wheels can be a bit gory, in a cartoon kind of way. For example, in one level when your character is transported back to prehistoric times, a non-playable character gets eaten by a dinosaur, at least partially. His limbs are left behind in a spray of pixellated blood you have to drive your segway through. It's nothing too graphic, but Happy Wheels might not be appropriate for younger children as a result. The game also sometimes freezes up, making your character's movements stick occasionally.

Happy Wheels is an utterly random (and a little bit gory) browser game that will provide considerable amusement.

Download Happy Wheels in Softonic

The scientist has cloned all cows to and animals to obey his every command and now intends on using his evil powers for world domination.

The game is a mix of platform and adventure. Super Cow moves laterally across the screen in platform fashion with the cursors and spacebar used to control him. The graphics and animations are superb and enhanced by the fact that every so often, cartoon style graphics are used to display the characters in dialogue with Super Cow. These are very often accompanies by real actors voices which give the game an extra touch of class.

Ice Age 3 Demo-Join Sid and his friends in Dinosaurland

http://ice-age-3.en.softonic.com

In the Ice Age 3 demo, enter the world of your favorite prehistoric characters as they come face to face with the dinosaurs.

The demo features three game modes. In Buck to the Rescue, you have to navigate your way through caves and up cliffs using your whip to help, and slide down vine and dinosaur routes avoiding falls and spikes. Egg Roll has you playing Sid, who has to protect an egg by rolling it carefully around the icy world. In Run Sid Run, control Sid as he runs towards the camera, with a T-Rex chasing him down.

Kids will no doubt love playing Ice Age 3. It's well presented, has lots of character voices, and it relatively easy to control. None of the levels in the demo are too challenging, but should provide some replay value to younger children. In this demo the levels end abruptly - you're only given a taste of each. But the Run Sid Run level is visually impressive, with the screen shaking as the T-Rex roars, and the vine-riding section or Buck to the rescue is also really fun.

As a demo it's nicely varied, and shows promise for the full game, which looks like being great fun for fans of Ice Age 3.

Download Ice Age 3 Demo in Softonic

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures Demo-Our favorite archaeologist is back

http://lego-indiana-jones-the-original-adventures.en.softonic.com

There's only a week left until Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull hits cinemas worldwide, a moment all true Indy fans like me have been desperately waiting for. If you're also among them, let me show you a trick to relieve your Indiana Jones anxiety: play the videogame!

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is an original mix-up of the three previous Indy movies (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), turned into a fun 3D platform adventure with some mind-twisting puzzles and a very unusual element: it's all made of Lego blocks.

This means that all characters, enemies and objects you'll find along the game are Lego style, which sometimes makes the game simply hilarious. You can for example build necessary elements - such a bridge to cross over a gap - out of a bunch of Lego pieces. Also, when you kill enemies or destroy objects with your whip, they're all torn down to Lego blocks. Backgrounds are the only thing in the game that don't follow the Lego style and have been created in a 3D style instead.

Despite being made of Lego, Indy is quick and agile. You can jump from one platform to another, fly over deep cliffs with your whip and avoid all sorts of obstacles quite easily. What's more, the game lets you carry two simultaneous characters (Indy and his friend) and change between them at any time, depending on what you need to do (remember: Indy doesn't have a shovel, but his friend does!).

Be aware though that the game is not just about jumping platforms and using your whip like Tarzan's vines. You'll have to solve various riddles and puzzles in order to gain access to certain areas during your adventures. The game's also quite easy to control, even if you're not very skillful with platforms, though I missed having a bit more control over the camera.

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is an hilarious 3D platform game which will let any Indy fan relive the most famous movie scenes featuring their favorite archaeologist.

Download LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures Demo in Softonic

I Wanna Be The Guy 1.0.0-Toughest game ever?

http://i-wanna-be-the-guy.en.softonic.com

I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game is a purposefully rock hard platform game with a retro style that is designed to unfairly kill you at every turn. As the developer says: Do YOU have what it takes to be The Guy?

This game is unfair, but it's designed to be that say, so actually it is fair! It's a 'sardonic love letter' to early video games, where unfair death was a normality. I Wanna Be The Guy takes this idea and ups the difficulty and the death. This is a game that requires pixel perfect jumping, exquisite timing and more patience than anyone is likely to have. However, if you like a challenge, this may be irresistible.

Controls are via the keyboard, and I Wanna Be The Guy's little hero works pretty normally: He can double jump and shoot, and suffers from one-touch-death! Every screen has to be learnt by experience, meaning pretty much everything you see will kill you, and you then have to remember everything to survive to the exit. There are save points, but not in every screen.

I Wanna Be The Guy is not for everyone. It will amuse older gamers who remember tough 80s gaming, and it will keep anyone who loves hard games happy. However, the difficulty is so high that many players will simply want to give up.

Download I Wanna Be The Guy 1.0.0 in Softonic

http://sonic-generations.en.softonic.com

Sonic Generations brings Sega's iconic hedgehog to your PC, in a platform game that shows the best of his 2D and 3D gameplay from the last two decades.

From the very beginning, speed was what defined Sonic against Nintendo's Mario, and Sonic Generations has a ton of that. Whether in 2 or 3D, Sonic Generations is really fast - but to get the best experience, you have to learn the levels. Inexperienced players will find the adrenalin rush interrupted by enemies and obstacles - learning through failure is how Sonic Generations works. If you find repeating levels irritating, Sonic is simply not for you!

Sonic Generations looks fantastic throughout. the presentation is great, and the animation and environments have never been better. This is one of the best Sonic games for many years, and avoids most of the pitfalls of some of his worst games! Fans will love it, and there is hardly a better introduction to the high speed platform thrills of a Sonic game.

Try out the free demo from Steam, which gives you a 'classic' 2D level and and excellent over the top 3D level to play through.
Limbo-An award winning indie horror platformer

http://limbo.en.softonic.com

Limbo is a 2D platform puzzle game, originally released on Xbox Live. Now you can play it on your PC via <taglink type="program" country="en" id="53346">Steam</taglink>.

In Limbo, you control a boy on a journey through a strange and frightening world full of monsters and mechanisms that are out to get him. It's presented in stark monochrome, but the graphics are far from basic. Animation in Limbo is fantastic, and the dust and liquid effects really add a lot of atmosphere and depth. There is a flicker in the lighting that gives the game a dusty, old feeling. The sound is also excellent, helping to create one of the eeriest games around.

Each level of Limbo features a series of puzzles and obstacles that require a mixture of thought and sometimes precision timing. It can be punishing, but the chilly atmosphere justifies the difficulty. This is a horror platformer, and it's not supposed to be nice! Limbo has moments that are pretty scary, and while it's not gory, it can be gruesome.

The journey in Limbo with your silent protagonist is full of memorable moments, and played in the dark it's a fantastic experience. Limbo isn't a very long game, but it is excellent from start to finish and there are few gaming experiences that are as involving.

Limbo is a must play game.
http://super-mario-blue-twilight-dx.en.softonic.com

The Super Mario games have had a lot of influence down through the years and as a result there is no shortage of parodies built by fans that stay faithful to the originals by differing margins.

Blue Twilight has been made as the unofficial continuation of the last Mario game under the pretence that just as the Italian plumber saved the princess once again, she was snatched away by a ghostly figure that Mario must now find and thwart.

As you make your way through the game you'll notice Mario making some strange sound effects whether he's celebrating finding a mushroom or jumping in any of a variety of ways.

The system for his power level is taken from Mario 3D and works by giving him six "strikes", in the form of segments in a circle, before losing a life.

We would have preferred to see the traditional system whereby the hero grows by eating mushrooms and shrinks when hit by an enemy, but then again, segments work too.

One of the things that make the Super Mario games what they are is the movement and abilities of the characters. In this respect Blue Twilight strays slightly away, with the result that it doesn't quite feel like you are playing Mario but some other, clunkier impostor.

For example, the clone "Mario Forever" hits the spot when it comes to character physics and so feels like the real deal, making it that bit more playable.

Nonetheless, Blue Twilight is fun to play and will appeal to most fans if not for the gameplay then for the unmistakable Nintendo-style music.

Download Super Mario: Blue Twilight DX 1.04.1 in Softonic

Street Fighter X Mega Man 1.0-Celebrate the 25th anniversaries of two classic Capcom titles

http://street-fighter-x-mega-man.en.softonic.com

Street Fighter X Mega Man is a retro tribute to the classic franchises, that sees Mega Man on a mission to fight each of the Street Fighters as their 25th anniversary finishes, and Mega Man's begins.

This is a fan created game, officially supported by Capcom. Seow Zong Hui from Singapore created this retro platformer as a tribute, with a soundtrack provided by Luke Esquivel. You control Mega Man over a series of tough levels that climax with a face-off against one of the Street Fighter characters. Like a classic NES game, it's fast and uncompromisingly tough. If you die, it's back to the start of the level, 80s style. No save points here.

You can play with keyboard or a gamepad - Street Fighter X Mega Man will recognize a gamepad as long as it's connected when you start the game. Controls are faithful to Mega Man, with jumps, slides and weapons all working as they should. Unlike the old Mega Man games, there's no save or password system, so if you want to beat the game you have to do it on one go. Combined with the overall toughness of Street Fighter X Mega Man, this makes for a really tough game. Enemies range from difficult to very difficult, and the Street Fighter bosses even more so. You'll need all your retro skills to complete this.

The graphics and music are lovingly done, with each level based on a Street Fighter theme. The 8-bit versions of the Street Fighter characters look great, although you may be too busy trying to avoid them to notice! The soundtrack sounds just right for this retro tribute too.

This is a fan-made game, so it's hard to judge against 'professiona' titles. However, the recent glut of great indie retro platformers, like <taglink type="program" country="en" id="91359">VVVVVV</taglink> or even <taglink type="program" country="en" id="94700">Cave Story</taglink>, have shown that you don't need a big team to create a great game that's tough without being unfair. Street Fighter X Mega Man really needs a save feature, and the README instructions should have more guidance about which order to attempt the levels.

There's no doubting the love that went into Street Fighter X Mega Man, but it even makes famously unfair platformers like Ghouls and Ghosts seem tough! However, it's lots of fun, and fans of both franchises will enjoy this free challenge.

Download Street Fighter X Mega Man 1.0 in Softonic

Super Mario 3: Mario Forever 5.9-Great remake of the classic game

http://super-mario-3-mario-forever.en.softonic.com

Super Mario 3: Mario Forever is a remake of the classic Super Mario game.

Super Mario 3: Mario Forever remains faithful to the original Mario format and retains much of the gameplay although the controls aren't quite as fluid as the original which may take some getting used to. As you'd expect, there are lots of secret worlds to explore and the game difficulty increases significantly as you progress through the levels.

The range of enemies, scenarios and challenges is comparable with Super Mario and includes a final show-down with Bowser at the end of a world. There are a total of 50 worlds to play in including several bonus worlds (such as The lost Map, Hardcore World etc.) and even a secret level.

The all round accuracy and similarities with Super Mario make it clear Super Mario 3: Mario Forever was made by a true fan of the game. The main problem with Super Mario 3: Mario Forever however is that you can only save games when you complete a world - which can be really frustrating if you keep getting stuck at the same old bit - and some of the in-game features aren't as polished as the original.

Overall, Super Mario 3: Mario Forever is an excellent clone of Super Mario and will definitely appeal to fans of the game.

Download Super Mario 3: Mario Forever 5.9 in Softonic
