Caisses 1.21 - Impressive free Sokoban game with 500 levels

If you've ever dreamed about working in a warehouse (and I know I have on many occasions), then the chances are you used to love playing Sokoban. Although, you probably didn't know it was called Sokoban, but it's the one where you have to push boxes in a straight line into a designated space.

Well, the game is still alive and kicking, and is widespread on mobile devices. Caisses is one of the more interesting clones I've come across though, and provides amazing depth considering it's a piece of freeware.

Your basic aim is the same old story - you're a warehouseman who must shuffle parcels around. You can only push the boxes in a straight line, and you can't push more than one box at a time. As a result, the gameplay is very addictive, but certainly not very original.

The best thing about Caisses is the fact that you can customise the game to the n-th degree. Not only can you choose from a bevy of cool backgrounds, but there are loads of game themes to choose from too. For instance, you can choose to play as Pac-Man, Zangeif, a nurse, or even the Linux penguin, and the objects you push change accordingly.

It gets pretty tough as you progress through the 500 levels, so it would've been nice to see some kind of hints feature, but the challenge of getting your head around the hundreds of puzzles is enough to keep you coming back for more.

The graphics aren't the best ever and because this version is ported from a mobile phone version, the game window is quite small.

Nevertheless, Caisses offers a fun way to test your brain during a break from your usual routine.

Ben Ruyl Sokoban 3.0 - A simple alternative to Sudoku

If you're sick of Sudoku then have you tried Sokoban? Ben Ruyl Sokoban is a resissue of the classic Japanese game Sokoban with more than 500 levels. The object of the game is to place all of the boxes in their correct position in a crowded warehouse with a minimal number of pushes and moves.

The boxes can only be pushed, never pulled, and only one can be pushed at a time. It sounds easy, but the levels range from very easy to extremely difficult, some taking hours and even days to figure out. It is the simplicity and elegance of the rules have made Sokoban one of the most popular logic games in Japan and you'll soon see why.

If Sudoku and numbers are not your thing, then you'll find Sokoban both stimulating and relaxing.

Sokoban YASC 1.255 - Move crates to the right places

Sokoban YASC (Yet Another Sokoban Clone) is a maddeningly simple game first conceived by Hiroyuki Imabayashi, a Japanese programmer. The word Sokoban means "warehouse keeper." Move the red crates to the designated storage spaces. The object of the game is to put all of the crates in your "warehouse" into the designated storage areas. Sounds easy, right? Well, there are a few restrictions:

You are not allowed to pull crates, only push

You cannot push more than one box at a time

You cannot pass through a box or wall

These restrictions -- especially the first one -- turn a seemingly simple task into a delightfully difficult challenge.

Joe’s Farm 1.2 - Place the boxes in their place in this great remake of Sokoban

Joe's Farm is a re-make of a popular game called "Sokoban". The point of the game is to place different objects in the marked positions. There is logic involved in placing the objects, and each level is going to challenge you more. You will have to think through your moves to save steps and time.

How is this game different from others similar to it? There are 3D graphics and special effects. In the prototype of Joe's Farm you had to move within brick walls. In the re-make everything happens on a small farm that belongs to Joe.

A fun logic and strategy puzzle board game to recognize the foundation of MagicSeven Studio for two years, it's a brain teaser featuring the clever porter Box Man, it has beautiful sceneries, background music and sound, more and more difficult levels seemingly with no solutions, but yes actually there are. This game is very easy to operate but maybe very difficult to solve, it's really a great challenge to your brain!
