This 1024x768 pixel version is of good quality and the only thing I wasn't really keen on was the way he's been cut out and stuck onto the background looks a little crude.

Nevertheless, this is still a must-have download for all Indy fans.

Alpine Lake Animated Wallpaper sets an animated mountain landscape on your desktop, as a background image.

The image shows an idyllic setting in nature, all surrounded by mountains, green meadows and a lake. The animation effects include flying butterflies, ducks swimming across the lake and some forest animals walking by.

I'm not sure whether such an animated image is suitable for a wallpaper. I'd personally prefer more static photos where my shortcut icons can be easily sorted out and I'm not constantly distracted by animated creatures.

Alpine Lake Animated Wallpaper displays an attractive mountain landscape, but may be too distracting for the average user.

Tropic Waterfall is an animated image you can use as desktop background wallpaper on your computer.

The image represents a relaxing waterfall in the middle of a dense tropical forest. Animation represents water falling from the top, while the accompanying sound adds a touch of realism. I guess the sound effects can get a bit annoying but luckily you can turn them off in the wallpaper's settings.

The main drawback I see to this wallpapers is the fact that it's not optimized to display icons; the image takes almost the whole screen and shortcuts are hardly to see when put over that much graphic detail.

Tropic Waterfall is a nice animated desktop wallpaper, but not recommended to those who have many shortcuts on their desktops.

Despite not being born with any special powers to speak of, Iron Man has still managed to make the jump from comic book hero to big screen star thanks to his bravery and ingenuity.

This desktop wallpaper pays homage to the human trashcan with an impressive image to adorn your PC. At 1680x1050, this is a high resolution shot of the Iron Man in an agressive pose, in front of a smokey backdrop. There's also a small logo advertizing the film.

A must-have for any Iron Man fanatic.

Mac and Linux users have been used to them for a long time now but Virtual Desktop managers are one of the most convenient ways to organise your workspace.

VirtuaWin is a virtual desktop manager for the Windows which lets you organize applications over several virtual desktops (also called 'workspaces'). You can create up to 20 desktops which you can chop and change to using desktop shortcuts - just hold down the Windows key and use the cursor keys. This application can be taken anywhere on a USB stick so it's useful for those that don't have a laptop or don't have enough disk space to install the original program. Unfortunately, it seems that this portable version has a few bugs, most annoying of which is the gaps that sometimes appear in the taskbar when you change desktops. The developers say this is caused by a bug in the 'Group similar taskbar buttons' feature of the Windows taskbar which cannot always correctly handle the large number of window state changes that occur during desktop change. However, it can be remedied by disabling the taskbar option although this is quite a drastic measure to take to ensure this program works properly.

A useful way to organise your Windows and desktop but this portable version is still prone to bugs.

Shock 4Way 3D installs a Windows management system similar to Windows Vista or Aqua Macintosh.

When you activate the button of the program in the system tray it launches a three-dimensional vision of four desks. They can be ordered as faces of a cube, as a tapestry with all the desks in the same light or as a succession of them arranged in a row. Shock 4Way 3D has a system of keystrokes to change the view and move from one desktop to another with ease.

The combinations can be customized, but by default they are: Ctrl + Alt + `: Changes to the active window; Ctrl + Alt +1: Changes to the first screen; Ctrl + Alt +2: Changes to the second screen; Ctrl + Alt +3: Changes to the third screen and Ctrl + Alt +4: Changes to the fourth screen.

This program looks great and makes you feel like you're working with a really flashy operating system but be warned - it hogs your RAM terribly and will slow down anything else you have running unless you've got plenty of RAM installed in the first place.

A great looking program that quite literally, adds a new dimension to the way you work on multiple desktops.

While iTunes is an amazing music management application, it's not great when it comes to importing tracks from your hard drive to the iTunes library.

Normally if you want to add music files to the iTunes library there are only two options - you have to add them manually or let iTunes store files on your system folder. iTunes Folder Watch is constantly on the lookout for new tunes that have been added to your hard drive and then automatically adds them to your iTunes library. The program runs in the background and doesn't actually indicate when it's working or triggered but you will notice that files have been added to your iTunes library. It works basically as a background process although you can bring it into the foreground if you choose. Note that you'll need iTunes version 6 or above for iTunes Folder Watch to work correctly. In this trial version, some folder management features have been disabled and you are bugged by a nag screen to purchase an upgrade to the full version. The licence key that they give you also works with iTunes Album Browser so if you do upgrade, you're effectively getting two programs for one.

If iTunes is not managing your newly added music the way you wished it would, then you may find this program hits the spot.

Pixelformer is a complete icon tool with which you can edit any existent icon or create your own from scratch.

The program features a quite dark interface that doesn't really suit it, but you can't customize it in any way. What really surprised me was the fact that Pixelformer supports layers (something you don't usually find in small editors) and also the possibility to create icons in just about any size from 16x16 to 256x256. What's more, you can create icons from any other image by importing the file into Pixelformer and selecting the area you want.

On the downside, Pixelformer has also some drawbacks. The first one is a rather scarce set of tools, among which I missed the ability to crop and a more powerful zoom tool. There are no special effects or filters to apply to your icons, nor a configuration menu to customize the program's appearance and behavior.

Pixelformer is a great pixel editor with support for layers and many other interesting features, though it lacks some more advanced tools.

If you’ve had enough bad experiences upgrading your Microsoft products, you’re too poor to upgrade to Vista or you just refuse on principle, you can always customise Windows XP to make it look like Vista. The Windows Vista customisation pack gives you all the flashy features of Vista without having to shell-out a few hundred dollars for the original. It’s certainly proved a hit with Softonic users so far who have made this pack one of the site’s most popular downloads.

The pack includes a booty of Vista features including transparency of the windows, 3D Vista style icons, mouse cursors, boot screen, login screen, and a whole host of Vista themes to name a few. After installing the pack, you’ll be asked to restart, when you’ll find that your system has been through an impressive transformation although the fact that Windows Vista isn’t actually that radically different from XP, shouldn’t be held against this pack.

Amongst the major differences you will notice are some jazzy changes to your systems icons, skins and toolbars as well as new enhancements to your desktop such as a dock bar or if you prefer, a totally different system tray clock. Transfer file progress dialogs are transformed with swanky new 3D graphics and the sounds scheme has been beefed up to blow you out of your chair. Microsoft certainly spent lots of time designing these features. It was recently reported that they spent a year and a half just coming up with the start-up music alone.

Other changes include Windows Media Player which also receives a facelift although nothing worth getting excited about. The colours have been changed to a metallic-blue and the drop down menus have been replaced by an invisible menu which pops up when the mouse is waved over it. However, this feature actually becomes increasingly annoying with regular use and is best deactivated.

Whilst initially impressive, after a while these changes can cause problems. Users have reported that the new schemes not only slows down their PC’s but also cause it to crash randomly. It can also be a pain whenever there’s a problem with your PC. Since you are running a somewhat modified version of XP, normal troubleshooting guides may not work. You’ll subsequently have to uninstall the pack to make sure that it isn’t causing the problem. Fortunately however, the pack comes with an uninstaller that makes reverting back to XP simple although in time honoured Windows style, you’ll have to restart the computer.

For anyone who doesn’t add or remove programs regularly, we’d recommend this pack as it does an impressive job at emulating the $200+ Vista look. However, for those that make regular changes to their PC, the pack can end up being more hassle than its worth as the changes made can conflict with interfaces of other programs.

When there are only a few hours left for the release of Grand Theft Auto IV the hype can't get any further. Now it's time for you to get in the mood, and the quickest way to do it is by customizing your PC with GTA IV material.

LyricWiki harnesses all the power of Wikis to allow you to compile and enter your favourite band and artist lyrics into a very simple and user friendly database.

LyricWiki has been designed to work via the context menu which can be opened via a right-click on the main window. The real appeal of the program is that it can perform synchronization with several different audio players simply by clicking on the player's name in the Player menu. These players include Foobar2000, Winamp, WMP and musikCube. If LyricWiki cannot detect the song that is playing, there is a help section in the FAQ's that advises you on how to solve the problem. The other nice thing is that, if you want to print out the lyrics, you can export lyrics in text format or XAML. XAML has been included so that you can maintain the elegant look of song sheets in in LyricWiki but unfortunately, it's only available with Internet Explorer as Firefox is not supported yet. This is a real shame as the song sheets look much better in their original format than simple text but it's a minor point on what is generally an excellent program.

For music lovers and those that want to link their music player to a lyrics database, LyricWiki is an excellent choice.

Ubuntu is by far the most popular Linux distribution these days, thanks to its eye-candy design and user-friendly environment that set this operating system far from the console-style, hacker-only image we all had of Linux some time ago.

But if you don't dare jump to the penguin side yet, don't worry: you can still enjoy Ubuntu's look and feel with this Windows visual theme. Smooth Ubuntu Human includes pretty much anything you need to make your Windows computer look like the Ubuntu operating system. Besides the graphic elements such as wallpapers, fonts, cursors and icons, you also get a special DLL patcher that enables you to use the theme even if it's not an official Windows visual theme.

The result is quite impressive and looks really nice, though I missed having a bit more of choice in wallpapers and theme colors. Also, I must say this theme is not as easy to install as other themes I've tried. For example, if you want to install icons you'll need to download and install a third-party application.

With Smooth Ubuntu Human you can get the Ubuntu look and feel on your Windows computer, though you'll need to go through several steps to obtain the complete package.

If you're a real Twitter junkie you're going to love this screensaver: with TwittEarth you'll be able to follow twits from all over the world in real time.

The screensaver is actually based on a web mash-up created by a group of developers (who are also Twitter fans, of course) just for fun. The screensaver loads up the Twitter timeline and displays it on a colorful animated globe, with cute characters representing each Twitter user.

In spite of being a 3D screensaver, TwittEarth doesn't use up a lot of resources and works fine almost on any computer. The only flaw I found was that twitts written in special characters (i.e. Japanese, Chinese) don't show up properly.

With TwittEarth you can follow live twits from all over the world in a nice 3D planet Earth that moves on your desktop while you're away.

If you can't afford a real aquarium and all its equipment, you can at least install this virtual aquarium and enjoy the view from your computer chair.

Crawler 3D Marine Aquarium Screensaver displays a complete aquarium while you're not using the PC, turning your monitor into a tank full of sea creatures. You can choose between several aquariums and also download new fish species.

I especially liked the fact that 3D Marine Aquarium Screensaver displays some information about each kind of animal that appears on the screen; it makes the screensaver not only attractive but also informative. On the downside, you can't remove some items like the calendar or the search field, which I personally found kind of annoying.

With Crawler 3D Marine Aquarium Screensaver you can enjoy a realistic aquarium in your PC. It's a shame some elements can't be removed from the screen.

If you are willing to give up smoking, or you would like someone you love to quit, there is hope. Free Anti-Smoking Screensaver, as the title says, is supposed to help smokers to realise that, while they smoke, they hurt themselves and others. It's a good screensaver also if you like horror movies!

In this 3D animation the smoker is symbolized with a pretty frightening skeleton who hides himself while smoking and coughing. The surrounding environment also doesn't look that good - it's a sort of a nightmare fscenario.

Technically speaking the animation is smooth and 'impressive'. Whether it is also effective, you will have to tell; I can just say it takes a lot of resources to run and when you move the mouse it doesn't respond immediately. In summary, I would use it just to scare a smoker, but not as an everyday screensaver.

Here's a screensaver you can install or send to your smoker friends as another way to effectively deliver your 'stop-smoking' advice.
