GTA IV, the fourth episode in the Grand Theft Auto series, will soon be hitting game shop shelves worldwide. But while waiting for that glorious day to come, we may as well drool over the game's latest screenshots in its official wallpaper.

The GTA IV Screensaver includes snapshots from game footage and displays them on your computer as a photo slideshow. But that's not all: the screensaver will automatically connect to the GTA IV official website and download more screenshots as they become available to add them to the screensaver.

On the downside, I missed some basic configuration settings, like being able to set the time period or even choosing between different transition effects.

In all, the official GTA IV Screensaver lets you take a sneak peek at one of the most awaited games of this year and keeps you updated with new screenshots.

I love playing those stickmen games where you blast your skinny enemy to pieces using a variety of beastly weapons. So, this screensaver looked like it was right up my street. I was pretty pleased with it too. As you might expect, the graphics aren't amazing but it's incredibly fun to watch the little fellas do battle on screen. You can choose how many men you want fighting each other, from a one-on-one to a full-on Armaggedon with hundreds of fighters.

As with the games the scenes can get pretty brutal, with blood spilled everywhere and holes burned onto your desktop from bullets, grenades and rocket launchers. As a nice touch, the developer has also included a kid-friendly mode where the fights are conducted with water pistols and slingshots so as to keep gore to a minimum. The animation can be a little jerky on a slow machine, but nevertheless it's a fun way to enjoy the time when you're not using your PC.

This screensaver features the first level in the first world in the traditional Nintendo game Super Mario Bros. If you're a big Mario fan, you'll immediately recognize the scenario: green plumbs, brick blocs, golden coins, threatening mushrooms and all the other elements found in this classic videogame.

This unique application is both a screensaver and a puzzle. When your computer has been inactive for a while, Desktop Puzzle Screensaver will divide the screen into squares and begin to slide them.

You can choose to leave it like this, or if you´re up to it, accept the challenge and try to solve puzzle that the program creates. It has several configuration options, like placing a number on the squares and selecting the number of columns and rows in which you want to divide the screen.
