Libra shows the content of your database on its interface, which resembles a wooden shelf – not a very nice design, to my taste. Each item in the database has a highly-detailed entry, including title, description, images and extra information that varies depending on the type of item.

The best feature in Libra is undoubtedly the tool to add new items. All you have to do is enter any keyword in the search field and Libra will search Amazon's database with it. If the book, movie, CD or videogame you were looking for is among the results, just click on it and it will automatically be added to your database. No writing at all! Oddly enough, Libra only uses Amazon websites and doesn't let you add any others to the list.

Libra also includes some extra features such as a loan manager, a contacts list, a tool to import databases from other apps or other formats, and support to export to HTML, CSV and XLS.

You can customize the layout of lists you export and send them to the web or to your iPod. Librarian can also import elements from multiple sources, like borrowers from your Address Book or item information from a number of sites. You can view your Amazon cart from the application and even retrieve things like album covers.

Librarian Pro is a great program to keep updated lists of your favorite items and always be aware of who's borrowed what from you.

The answer is CD Archiver. This program helps you create an organized catalogue of all your recorded CD and DVD in a very easy way: insert a disc in the drive, choose or create the appropriate category and CD Archiver will read it and store its index of contents in the database. Be warned that, although almost fully automated, the whole process can take a while as the program is a bit slow indexing large discs.

Once you have your database, you can see a nice graphic that displays the distribution and percentages of file types but, what's more important, you'll be able to search for any file with the embedded search engine, without having to check discs one by one.

This is clearly an advantage when learning how to use the program, something for which you will need some time due to the huge amount of options and settings available. In fact, the whole interface feels overwhelmed by tables, toolbars and icons, and its design could be certainly improved.

In spite of this flaw, MSD Collections is an excellent application. It enables you to create highly detailed records of every single item in your collections and even track loans and generate PDF reports. Plus, databases are managed with the reliable SQL technology and also encrypted for more security.

In addition to basic personal data like movies, music and books, Avignon Concept also has quirkier categories of organization. Users can organize their wines and even their stamp collections. There's also a built-in to do list and you can import contacts directly from Microsoft Outlook.

Avignon Concept also features more than 40 standard reports, which can be displayed directly on screen, in PDF format and exported to Microsoft Excel. These reports also give you the possibility to filter your data. Many forms of data can also be imported and exported in XML in several languages including English, French and Dutch.

The latest version of Avignon Concept includes a browser and an internal accounting application for keeping track of your personal budget. Other new functions include a music and movie synchronizing tool, easier access to movies and music, the ability to search your books via ISBN on the internet, faster browsing, the ability to compose longer entries and many other little add-ons.

The only real downside to Avignon Concept is the simple fact that it takes some time to learn how to use all of its various features.

For those who prefer an all-in-one solution to personal organizing, Avignon Concept 2011 is a seriously handy tool.
