Pool Challenge 1.0 (SP)-Play pool on your phone

http://pool-challenge.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

If you're ever looking for me on a Saturday night, there's a good chance you'll find me cruising the tables of my local pool hall. Now it's not just Saturdays that I'll be chalking up since I became acquainted with the wonders of Pool Challenge.

The game represents one of the most realistic mobile simulations of the game I've ever seen. In fact it's as smartly turned-out as even the most well-kept baizes of the World Championships. From the opening video montage through to the pixel-perfect ball shadows and intelligent physics, you'll be blown away by the visuals of this one.

Luckily, Pool Challenge is good fun to play, too. The directional button, or keypad-based control system is pretty intuitive and the inclusion of a lockable cue makes the process of aiming the ball where you want to strike it all the easier.

There are two game modes to choose from: 8-ball or 9-ball pool, and you can plump for one or two-player options. There are quite a few game settings to tinker with as well, such as CPU opponent difficulty, table friction, and music volume. The latter of these is most welcome, since the in-game soundtrack is soundtrack is pretty unbearable.

If you're potty about potting then you certainly won't be disappointed by Pool Challenge.

Download Pool Challenge 1.0 (SP) in Softonic

Insaniquarium Deluxe 1.0-Keep the fish alive and avoid aliens

http://insaniquarium.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

They say that keeping fish is a relaxing stress-reliever. Well, install Insaniquarium and you may disagree with this theory.

Insaniquarium is a colorful game in which you must keep a tank of fish thriving. You need to feed the fish regularly by tapping on them to release a flake of food. You'll know when they get hungry because they turn green. This is more difficult than it sounds because the fish in Insaniquarium are a greedy bunch and they often cluster together, making it hard to single one out for a dose of food.

There's plenty more to Insaniquarium than just feeding hungry mouths. Along the way, you'll have to collect coins to buy new fish, better food, and even weapons, which you'll need to defeat the alien intruders that come along from time-to-time.

Insaniquarium may be a little strange but it's actually a pretty decent game. There are four different game modes to keep you occupied and the graphics and sound effects are quite amusing, even if the music gets a bit annoying.

Insaniquarium provides an interesting diversion for any fish fanatics out there.

Download Insaniquarium Deluxe 1.0 in Softonic

NE Deluxe 1.01-Brain-teasing, number-crunching puzzle game

http://next-element-deluxe.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

I love a good logic puzzle but grow tired of playing the same kind of games all the time. That's why I enjoy testing new and original puzzlers like NE.

This latest release is a Deluxe version of the original <taglink type="program" country="en" id="77456">NE</taglink>, which adds 50 new levels, new backgrounds and extra music.

The game gives your brain cells a workout by charging you with the task of clearing a maze of numbered tiles. You start each level from a 'start' tile and must reach the 'goal' tile having cleared all the tiles on the board. The numbers you see on each tile show you how many times you must visit it in order to destroy it. Some tiles contain arrows, which only let you move in that direction. When you leave the arrow tile it will be destroyed. You'll also encounter pairs of teleportation tiles which send you from one to the other.

All this may sound a bit complicated but almost as soon as you start the first level of NE Deluxe you'll figure it out. And once you get started you'll find it very difficult to put the game down. The first of the levels are pretty easy but it soon becomes pretty perplexing and the challenge of figuring out the right route is very addictive.

NE Deluxe is nicely presented apart from most of the music which repeats throughout the game. This looping soundtrack is so annoying and gets stuck in your head even after you've stopped playing.

If you're up for a bit of a logical challenge NE Deluxe offers a teasing time filler for those boring bus journeys.

Download NE Deluxe 1.01 in Softonic

Jack BBQ 1.7 (SP)-Platform game with a brain-teasing twist

http://jack-bbq.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

If you're a fan of the platform games of old then you might like to try installing Jack BBQ on your phone.

Jack BBQ sees you assume the role of a kind-of Indiana Jones-type character who must find his way out of a series of dangerous lands. It's basically an old-fashioned jump n' run kind of game, in which you'll need to navigate through the many rooms of each level while avoiding booby traps and baddies along the way, which include Martians, snakes, Vikings and robots.

OK, so the plot in Jack BBQ isn't going to win any awards - they storyline is just about as tired as they come. However, the game is still a lot of fun to play, and it's one of those that you can just pick up and get into, without having to endure countless intro screens and instructions.

Graphically, Jack BBQ isn't too bad, but it's the music that really stood out for me in this one. Not only are the tunes funky and catchy, but the quality of the sound output is excellent. Another nice feature of the game is that it automatically pauses itself if you receive an incoming call, so you don't have to worry about losing your place.

It may be a little uninspiring for some, but Jack BBQ represents a fun little mobile adventure.

Download Jack BBQ 1.7 (SP) in Softonic

http://yukon.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

Solitaire is a great game for those long train journeys home and Yukon is a version for the purists. The layout and graphics are exactly as you would expect and the game works in the same way as nearly every version you will have played on your PC. Drag and drop your cards into the correct rows, take the Aces to the spaces available at the top of the screen, deal again when you can't make a move and try and get rid of all the cards on the screen.

This edition comes in five game types - Classic, Kings, One Suit, Spider and Web, the main difference being how you build your cards up. There is also a nice Next Move feature as a helper and you can save your best times to give the play a competitive edge. For those of you still not up to speed with the rules there a list of instructions giving you all the info you need.

Download Yukon 1.21 in Softonic

Arcade Challenge 1.10-10 games in one

http://arcade-challenge.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

Arcade Challenge transforms your mobile phone into an amusement arcade. Ten mini games with multicolored animations and simple controls await you in this huge compilation of games that vary from addictive to simply boring. Simplicity is what they've gone for here though - most of the games can be controlled simply via the navigation key. The package includes Skateboard Spiff, Jump Rope, Toy Factory, The Fly, Jump Bot, Captain Gravity, Alienz, Basket Hoops, Circus Cannon and Litter Bug.

Skatboard Spiff sees you jumping over the obstacles along the sidewalk whilst Jump Rope makes you try and keep Zoe on her feet whilst skipping. Toy Factory involves the fast and furious but mundane task of packing and grouping toys in a factory production line. The Fly is perhaps the hardest - you have to catch a fly by trapping him between two walls whilst Jump Bot requires you to help the robot avoid falling down a tunnel - probably the most boring game of the lot. Being a sport fan, my favourite was Basket Hoops which involves simply hitting as many baskets as you can.

Sometimes the most simple mobile games are the best and by and large, these are good fun. However, they could easily have halved the pack and still produced a good package because some of the games don't hold your interest for very long.

Download Arcade Challenge 1.10 in Softonic

Pool Rebel 2.1-Take to the pool table on your phone

http://pool-rebel.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

Pool is one of my favourite sports (largely because you can play it in a pub) and I long to be able to play it whenever I like. Unfortunately, taking a pool table with you on the bus isn't very practical, so it's much better to install a simulation of it on your mobile device. Pool Rebel represents a decent conversion of the 'sport' to the small screen, offering realistic ball physics and a unique control system.

One of the first things you notice about the full version of this game is the sheer amount of options that are available from its well-presented interface. There are lots of characters to choose from, five different game modes, and also five levels of difficulty.

There's also an in-depth user guide, which is well worth reading because Pool Rebel is a little difficult to get to grips with at first due to the fact that it's so in-depth. Luckily there are also on-screen hints explaining how and why to use tricks such as side spin or screw-back, although again it will take you a while to master these.

Graphically, the game is exceptional, offering a realistic top-down view of a pool table and some smooth animation (this is dependent on your processor though). It also offers realistic sound effects and no annoying music.

With extras like a save function, extensive statistics and realistic ball physics, Pool Rebel has enough to keep you out of the pub for a while.

Download Pool Rebel 2.1 in Softonic

Croker 1.1-Colourful version of Poker with French cards

http://croker.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

If you like Poker but can't quite pull the right face at the right moment perhaps you should be looking for a similar yet slightly simpler card game. And that card game could be Croker. Instead of numbers in Croker you play with pictures - frogs, pigs, dice and baskets of fruit. It's the way the French play, apparently.

As with Poker the aim of the game is to make the best possible hand from five cards and like Poker the possible combinations include pairs, three of a kind, a full house or four of a kind. Each time the cards are played a round of betting occurs until players are ready to show all their cards and see who's won.

The animated cards are very colourful and you get to play computer opponents but there are only two levels of difficulty easy and hard which is a bit annoying.

If you like Poker you'll have fun with Croker, and if you like cards games with pigs and lightbulbs you'll probably really enjoy it too.

Download Croker 1.1 in Softonic

Beach Volleyball 1.03-Play beach volleyball on your mobile

http://beach-volleyball.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

Fancy some fun in the sun? Then get down the beach for a little game of volleyball. This is a limited download as you only get to battle out one point at a time but it gives you an idea of what to expect in the real version.

You can play as girl or boy on the white sand with palm trees either side and the sea just a tiptoe away. The graphics are very good for a mobile game and the babes and hunks are realistic and animate nicely.

The sound effects are pretty decent too - there's lots of grunting when you play the ball, and you can hear the waves lapping the shore in the background.

In terms of gameplay, Beach Volleyball is a bit tricky to get into. I found it hard to judge where the ball is going due to the way perspective is represented and it took a while to score my first point.

This was made more annoying by the fact that this demo only allows you to play one point per game. The difficulty issue is resolved somewhat by an 'auto-hit' mode where your character automatically thwacks the ball when you're near it.

There are three modes of difficulty in the game, as well as a high scores table, so there's certainly plenty of life in this one once you've mastered how to play it.

Download Beach Volleyball 1.03 in Softonic

The Final Battle 1.1 (SP)-Save the princess in this nostalgic graphical adventure

http://the-final-battle.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

I used to really enjoy those graphical adventure games that were very popular on the PC in the late 80s and early 90s, and Final Battle provides the chance to revisit those salad days. The plot is a similar one - you wake up in a dungeon and must save a princess who's been captured by an evil madman. OK, so I admit not much thought really went into the overall mission, but there are plenty of riddles, twists and turns to keep you intrigued by the plot for a long while.

The game boasts all the ingredients of those old adventure romps: interactive dialogues with weird and wonderful characters, lots of weapons and objects to collect, and a smattering of hidden areas to explore. There are more than 50 different levels to explore, although as you proceed some of them become annoyingly taxing to the point where you want to give up and throw your phone in the bin.

Part of the reason why The Final Battle kept me going until - well, the final battle, is its gorgeous graphics and superb soundtrack. The drawings are detailed and colourful and the audio captures the mood of the adventure perfectly. There are lots of nice cut-scenes and intro sequences, although I must point out that the quality of written English used is pretty bad at times. Maybe that's just me being picky though.

On the whole, The Final Battle is a captivating game that perfectly recreates the old graphical adventure genre to help transport you back to the 80s.

Download The Final Battle 1.1 (SP) in Softonic

CrazySoft Best Tarot Pro 1.2 (SP)-Read the future with the ancient art of Tarot

http://crazysoft-best-tarot-pro.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

I've had a few tarot readings before and while I'm not sure they were completely accurate (I never became a millionaire, as one reading promised) I still keep an open mind about it.

Best Tarot Pro lets you check what's in store for you through the medium of cards. The basic premise of the program is to enter a few details about yourself, think of a situation or problems you want some answers to, then 'choose' a series of 10 cards that will reveal the outcome.

Unfortunately the process of selecting a card isn't exactly in your hands. In fact, you just click on the 'Next' arrow and a card is automatically displayed on screen for you. I'm not sure whether tarot experts would agree that this is a valid way of reading your fortune, but even if it's just a bit of fun, I would have liked the option to select cards myself, or at least have a graphical representation of the cards that are being drawn.

On the plus side, you do get good descriptions of what the cards represent and the program does a good job of explaining how this impacts on the problem at hand. The annoying thing with this demo is that it cuts out before the crucial tenth card is drawn and doesn't provide the overall assessment, so you need to pay for the full version for this.

While it's validity as a fortune-telling medium is questionable, Best Tarot Pro still provides an interesting diversion and you'll learn quite a bit about how tarot cards work.

Download CrazySoft Best Tarot Pro 1.2 (SP) in Softonic

The problem is Blackjack is such a simple game how can one claim to be so much better than than the rest? Well the secret is in the options available and the accessibility to players of all levels from novice to professional.

There are several different tables you can play at from beginner's all the way up to the Grand High Roller's Table, which is not a place for the nervous. However, cash is unlimited through handy bank loans so don't get too anxious. Also you can apply for your very own personal assistant who will guide you through each game and show you that it's really not so simple after all. All the fun you'd expect from playing at the casino is here including 'doubling down', payout insurance, hand splitting and even card counting.
Personality Psychology Pro 1.4 (SP)-Series of fun tests to analyse your personality

http://personality-psychology-pro.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile

It seems that any magazine you pick up these days will have half a dozen personality tests in it. Wouldn't it be good if instead of having to buy all these magazines to test different aspects of your personality you could do them all in one hit?

Well, that's basically what Personality Pyschology Pro offers. The application is divided into a series of tests based around five different areas of personality, namely: Introversion/Extraversion, Emotional Stability, Mastery/Sympathy, Sexuality, and Social/Political Attitudes. Each of these areas is broken down into a series of tests covering different the different aspects that affect that personality trait. So, for instance, Introversion/Extraversion is divided into tests for Activity, Sociability, Risk-Taking, Impulsiveness, Expressiveness, Reflectiveness and Responsibility.

Before you start you need to create a new profile for yourself by entering your name and date of birth (although this doesn't seem to have any bearing on the results). You can then progress through each test, which normally contain about 30 questions each. As with most personality tests, a statement is displayed and you must click Yes, No, or Maybe depending on whether it is true of you or not. One of the things I liked about these tests is that you can jump backwards and forwards through them and change your answers once you've had time to really reflect on them.

Once you've completed a test, you'll be shown a chart outlining the degree to which you exhibit a particular personality trait, which also displays the 'normal' level. More detailed analysis of what your results actually mean is also available from this menu.

This is a very comprehensive personality testing solution which analyses virtually every area of the way you are. The only problem is, it will take you an age to complete all the tests and it can become a little monotonous after a while.
