WebSite X5 greets you with a very pleasing, simple-to-use interface. From the main page you can click a link to watch video tutorials on how to use the program. They provide great examples and breaks down each of WebSite X5's features.

You start by choosing a template for your website. While the WebSite X5 demo only includes 10 templates, the full version has over 1,000 templates. If you don't fancy any of the templates, you can design a template with your own images.

WebSite X5 provides an easy interface to generate a sitemap. You create new folders and can drag and drop different pages into each folder to create nests and menus. You can go back and change the menus and sitemap whenever you want. Website X5 has a live preview that makes it simple to see how your changes affect the look and feel of the site.

The next step that WebSite X5 walks you though is creating different pages. By default, pages are divided into a grid of four spaces. You can add or delete the spaces as you like. You then modify the page by dragging different functions into the grid. For example, you can drag the text function into the grid and double click it to type (or copy and paste) text. Axure RP is certainly not the simplest application to get to grips with but it's not particularly complicated either and there's an extensive Help guide. However, overall it is more suitable for professionals in the web design industry.

For the technically minded, Azure RP Quickly creates wireframes that can be quickly developed from sketch to ready-for-development designs. You can annotate the wireframes and one useful bonus is that you can automatically generate Microsoft Word specifications.

You need a bit of a steady hand to get the most out of Azure RP - you can create boxes, grids, buttons and drag and drop elements but there are widgets available to help develop your projects. You can download these from the Axure RP website where you'll also find widgets that other users have uploaded. Finally, you can also upload your final creations to the Axure RP website for others to critic and comment on although this isn't a particularly secure way of working on a business plan!

Axure XP is a powerful tool for creating your perfect business website although its more suited to web design professionals than beginners.

In terms of functionality, Actual Drawing behaves more like a desktop publishing app than a traditional web editor. Text, images and other elements are inserted via drag-and-drop, and there are dozens of preset templates, along with an assortment of ready-made buttons, tables and JavaScript effects, all of which are available with a single click. Designs can be tweaked using the impressive array of image-editing tools (drop shadows, rollover effects, sharpen, blur, rotate etc.) The app will also auto-convert any image you insert to web-ready JPEG or GIF format.

All these easy-access graphic tools amount to an excellent solution for those who don't know their way around Photoshop. However, if it's more than just a layout editor you want then Actual Drawing sorely disappoints. For starters, all pages you create in the program are saved in its own ADF format rather than native HTML, giving you precious little control over the code. What's more, opening existing HTML files will cause you no end of torment. The displays page elements in the shape of a series of separate layers, making a complete mess of your original page design that renders it impossible to work with.

Although the program would probably induce a violent reaction from most hardened web developers, those who are new to the game should find Actual Drawing very useful. With built-in functions such as an FTP-client, spell checker and search-engine submission it represents an idiot-proof way of putting up attractive pages without the need for technical nose. It's also loaded with wizards, tips and help to guide you through the program. That said, you will learn little about how HTML and other web languages work because of the fact that all the code is generated behind the scenes, making this a tool strictly for those without aspirations of becoming a serious web designer.
