OnlineVault - Automatically fill in registration forms and password fields

If you ever get sick of filling in forms and password fields then Online Vault will save you hours of work.

It automatically remembers your logins and passwords, and fills in Web forms in a single click. When prompted for a password or registration form, OnlineVault gives you the option of automatically filling in the fields or leaving you to do them manually. Alternatively, you can use it just as a password filler-in by using a master password.

It works by automatically storing and remembering names and passwords the first time you log into a site which you may or may not feel comfortable with but the developers assure that everything is very secure. If you don't want it to do this, then you may want it to help you generate some bulletproof passwords that no one will guess anyway.

If you share your PC, and don't want it to remember private details every time you log on, then you can create your own profile so you can use different shipping addresses, credit card numbers, personal credentials etc. However, you don't have to shut down Windows to log in and out of profiles - you can do it all through the main OnlineVault taskbar.

The problems come with particularly long forms that involve data that OnlineVault has never seen before - especially foreign language forms. In this case, it may half fill in the form for you but in the end, you may get more confused and prefer just to do it from scratch on your own.

If you use a lot of sites that involve passwords and form filling in then you can't go far wrong with OnlineVault although if you use particularly sensitive secure sites, you may find it doesn't work for those anyway.

As the developers point out, remembering passwords can be an absolute nightmare and with more and more needed on the internet, it's an increasing headache.

Password Tracker Deluxe stores passwords and usernames securely (via encryption) on your computer so you don't have to remember them. This doesn't mean that they are entered automatically into text fields. It just means that they are easily accessible from the Windows desktop system tray which is highly convenient if you need them at short notice. Password Tracker Deluxe can also remind you to change your passwords, and even assist you in creating newer, random and more secure passwords if you feel they are not secure enough or vulnerable to decryption. If you feel secure enough doing so, there's also the option to print out your passwords in a huge list or export them to an Excel file.

This is a very simple program that does it's job well and presuming that it never gets decrypted by outside forces, you should surf with peace of mind.

QWallet 2.0f - Save and protect your valuable informartion

There is so much remember nowadays regarding passwords, credit card numbers and phone numbers that it's no wonder we get confused and disorganised.

Sometimes it's wise to let a piece of software do the hard work of remembering for us which is what QWallet attempts to do. It stores an array of information from credit card info to phone numbers in an easy to use application which sits in your system tray. When you need to use a credit card, just click on the QWallet icon in the system tray, and drag and drop your credit card number and expiration date directly onto the web page. Now, this might seem all a little insecure and I have to admit, I'd be wary of using it but the developers assure that it's highly encrypted and just about bulletproof to all but the most determined hackers. Note that the program never sends your information over the internet - it simply provides a relatively quick and easy way to look up and use those items you need. The information stored in QWallet can be password protected and encrypted at any time you want.

A much quicker and easier solution that trying to reach for your credit card everytime you need it although if you're not willing to take chances with security, stay clear.

KeyPass 4.7.3 - Versatile password manager that types your passwords for you

KeyPass is a versatile password manager that types your passwords for you. Unlike other password managers that require tedious cut-and-paste or drag-and-drop operations to enter your passwords, KeyPass types the passwords for you when a user-defined "hot key" is pressed. As such, it works with any browser or application, including web browsers, terminal emulators and corporate services.

The information is encrypted using 448-bit blowfish algorithm and a master password is required to unlock the information in the database. This means that only you can access secret information such as passwords, credit card details, PIN numbers and any sensitive documents you have.

Unlike other password managers that write configuration information to the Windows registry, KeyPass stores everything in the encrypted database so that it can be run without prior installation. This allows you to carry all your sensitive information with you wherever you go. Simply plug the device into any PC and immediately access all your information and passwords.

Remembering passwords is one of the most challenging parts of modern PC usage - we have password prompts for everything from our banks to our favourite social networking sites.

It's completely free and very lightweight and uses very strict encryption standards to ensure that your data is safe. The program saves your passwords in one single file which can easily fit on a USB stick or be transferred from one computer to another or even attached to an e-mail. Black Box Password Manager allows you to store your passwords grouped any way you like and organise them via function, for example Email, FTP or server. You can also export the database to various other file formats such as TXT, XML, CSV and conversely, import data from other formats Meanwhile, if you want to store the passwords offline, you can print them in an easy to read and well organised list. Finally, if you can't come up with a strong enough password yourself, Black Box Password manager has a password generator which the developers claims guarantees unique and complex passwords each time it is used.

For those with a bad memory, or those that just want an easier way to manage their passwords, Blackbox Password Manager is a simple and effective solution.

With the number of available online tools and services, you'll be probably creating a couple of new usernames and personal profiles everyday. The question is, are you sure you remember al those passwords?

If your memory is already crammed with usernames, logins, password and the likes, you definitely need a password manager like Password Dragon. This simple tool takes care of all your passwords, enabling you to save them all in a safe, categorized database. Plus, being a Java-based app, you can run it on any operating system and even take it with you in a USB memory stick. Then, whenever you need you use your passwords, simply run the program and select the one you want.

To be honest, Password Dragon is possibly not the nicest app you've ever seen in terms of graphic design. Its interface supports skins but as any other Java tool, design is not the strongest point in this program. However Password Dragon does make up for it by presenting a really handy tool with a wide array of options to manage and protect your passwords.

You'll be able to create a complete entry for each of your passwords, including a password strength indicator and also a password generator in case you run out of ideas. The database is then encrypted and protected by one single, master password – the only one you'll need to remember from now on. The program also includes support to export and import your database.

Password Dragon lets you manage all your passwords in a straightforward –though somewhat dull – interface. It includes interesting extra tools such as a password strength measurer and a password generator.

The increasing number of passwords you have to use on a daily basis is making things is constantly making things harder for you, as you can't come up with new passwords and promptly memorize them anymore.

The best solution is then using a password manager like FlyingBit Password Keeper. This easy yet full featured tool takes care of all your passwords, saving them to a database and then protecting it with one master password, the only one you'll have to remember from now on. The database is also encrypted using any of the four encryption methods the program supports. We did miss however having a password generator, a common extra tool in this kind of software.

Passwords are conveniently saved into several different categories and can also be sorted according to their type: web login, FTP user, email address and password, etc. On the downside, you can't export the database, but at least the program can be run from a USB key which kind of makes up for it.

Use FlyingBit Password Manager and you'll always keep your passwords safe, besides not having any problems to remember them.

Creating new passwords every time I register for a online service is getting harder and harder. But before starting to use the same word everywhere and thus compromising my security, I'd rather use a password manager.

If you're in the same situation, Acebit Password Depot is probably your best choice. This comprehensive manager can handle all the usernames and passwords for all kinds of services, from online banking to FTP servers, including forums, blogs, email addresses and just about any other place where you're requested a password.

All your passwords are stored in a single database that can be saved in various locations (local drive, USB device, Internet server) and protected with a master password, a key file or both. You can organize your passwords in different categories and also assign an expiry date to them so that you're forced to change them on a regular basis.

In case you run out of ideas when coming up with new passwords, the program includes a password generator but I didn't find it that useful: it grabs characters from a Matrix-like code stream and doesn’t really produce usable passwords.

Acebit Password Depot still keeps an ace up its sleeve though: its seamless integration with your web browser, which enables you to manage passwords comfortably while you're browsing the Internet without having to change from one application to another.

Acebit Password Depot is as near to perfection as any password manager would like to reach: easy enough for the beginner and full of handy tools for expert users

Today you need to remember many passwords. You need a password for the Windows network logon, your e-mail account, your homepage's ftp password, online passwords, etc. The list is endless. Also, you should use different passwords for each account. Because if you use only one password everywhere and someone gets this password you have a problem... A serious problem. The thief would have access to your e-mail account, homepage, etc. Unimaginable.

KeePass is a free/open-source password manager or safe which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key-disk. So you only have to remember one single master password or insert the key-disk to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES and Twofish).

Remembering the number of passwords I've got is often a full-time job. I am forever forgetting passwords for sites and needing to go through the time consuming process of having them resent to me.

The great thing about Era Password Manager is that it does all the remembering for you and can be taken anywhere on a USB stick. Ah yes, but what about security? Well the developers say that it is fully encrypted and there's doesn't seem any easy way of breaking it at least. The program is extremely easy to setup with a wizard taking you through all the essential stages. The other great thing is that this program will never really get old because it allows unlimited entries so you can sign up to as many sites as you like without worrying whether you'll remember your login.

It is however limited to 1 Terabyte of data - which it's safe to say you'd never fill in a million years. To enter new details, you simply copy and paste new logins into the field provided via right-click and paste. A handy extra feature is that you can search passwords by name and it even claims to be able to reveal asterisked password in other applications although this did not work for me. There's tons more included too including a password generator, backup and restore function plus a flag for your most important passwords.

Free, portable and immensely useful, this is an essential tool for anyone with a bad memory on the road.

If the list of your Web passwords is larger than ten entries, than Password Manager is the right tool for you. You won't have to desperately try to recall the right password, or look it up in your notebook. Mozilla, Firefox and Thunderbird have comfortable password managers, though if you compare them to the Protected Storage of Internet Explorer or WAND of Opera, the latter ones are more powerful and functional.

However, human memory is not without flaws, programs can freeze or get dysfunctional, and the operation system can refuse to boot up. In this case, you will need help to recover your lost or forgotten passwords.

Mozilla Password Recovery is the program that help you to reveal the autofill passwords for Firefox and Mozilla, as well as the account passwords of the Thunderbird mail client. The program traditionally offers you two recovery modes: automatic and manual. With this utility you can also recover passwords protected with the User Master Password, thus being one step ahead of its competitors.

Features:

Recover all Mozilla, Firefox and Thunderbird autocomplete data as well as e-mail account passwords

Decrypt passwords protected with the User Master Password

Choose between two (automatic and manual) recovery modes

Export passwords to text, html or excel files

Multilingual passwords support

Friendly wizard interface

Learning to use Passweerd is very easy, thanks to its simple interface. All the program requires is that you select a username, usually ‘first name dot surname’, and one unique password. This is the only log in information you will have to remember from now on.

After you have entered some of your user names and passwords for different services, you can easily retrieve these and copy them to the clipboard with one click. That said, it would have been better if Passweerd could fill forms automatically for you.

Passweerd is portable, meaning you can put it on your USB pen-drive, so you can have all your passwords and usernames with you wherever you go. You can also export all your data from the program in excel, word or xml format if needed.

If you have dozens of difficult passwords to remember, this application will be very useful. If not, it’s just another log-in you’ll have to keep in mind.

QuickNet 1.0.0 - Manage passwords more easily in IE

One of the hardest things to remember as you sign up for services and sites is your username and password. QuickNet is designed to help IE users get round this problem with a simple add-on.

Somr passwords, like the one used to access your PC, are immensely important and if lost, could cause you nightmares. However, many of the passwords we use everyday are simply for registrations and of no real importance. If you could have just one password and could fill out registration pages in a single click, life would be a lot easier. This is where QuickNet steps in by allowing you to manage passwords, user data and logins in a few clicks. In short, your digital identity, or should we say your digital identities, are all brought under one roof. The plugin is safe and easy to use and will ensure that you never forget any password ever again. The program stores passwords and automatically fills in text fields with the appropriate information, generates passwords and encrypts your personal data with powerful algorithms. It also offers you improved navigation via your mouse to execute tasks, commands etc.

A super little plugin although unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work with every registration form, especially those that feature Java.

RoboForm2Go 6.9 - Portable automated password manager

RoboForm2Go is a very convenient tool that not only takes care of all your login names and passwords for different sites, but also enables you to carry them around in your USB memory stick.

The program is installed in the USB memory device and then appears integrated as a toolbar in your web browser. From this moment on, every time you log into a given website, RoboForm2Go will offer you the possibility to save that information as a new entry in its database. Then, the next time you try to log into that website, a single click on the program's toolbar will be enough to get you through.

Besides the password management functionality, RoboForm2Go features a small notepad for private notes and a password generator. All the program's functions can be accessed either the aforementioned toolbar or a small icon in the system tray. As for security, there's no need to worry: the program uses the AES algorithm and a master password to protect all your stored data.

Despite being a really useful app, especially because you can take it with you anywhere, there are still some points I didn't like about RoboForm2Go. First, it's difficult to create new entries without visiting the actual website. I think it would have been much easier to let users add new entries on the fly, without having to visit every single webpage. Also, the password manager is quite limited, allowing you to create only one password at a time.

RoboForm2Go is a convenient, safe way to store all your passwords and have them with you at all times.

PassLocker 1.10 - Keep all your passwords safe

PassLocker is a password manager that helps you to manage and store your passwords safely. Makes easy to access your websites, email, standalone applications, instant messengers etc. You can easily store all your passwords and encrypt them in a secure way. The program can generate random passwords (also mnemonic!), calculates their strengths and permits you to select quickly usernames and keys and put them in your favourite applications. You can do backups of your password database and generate PassKey files. With a PassKey you can make access to PassLocker repository by a file that can be Hardware dependent (to use with USB memories and other removable devices. You can also Import/Export the repository from/to several file types.

Strong Encryption

PassLocker uses a strong encryption algorithm: this algorithm is an evolution of TripleDes that is documented here. The implementation of this algorithm is described in Crypto++ library (it is named DES-EDE2 and HMAC/SHA-1) and it encrypts files using your passphrase in input. Someone that don't know your passphrase cannot access to your password repository and he cannot in any manner read your repository file (e.g. the PassLocker Repository File, prf)

Simple User Interface

PassLocker provide a very simple user interface: the main window displays always the current application selected in the repository, a menu and 6 main action buttons that permit to you to copy username and password to clipboard, save repository changes, open web urls, open tree repository and calculate passwords strenght. The repository window instead displays all the repository so you can at any moment see either the entire organized applications repository tree and the selected application data.

Organized repository

You can save your applications data (usernames, passwords, web-urls, notes etc.) in a hierarchical tree repository organized in groups of applications. You can decide to group and organize your applications by functions or types (e.g. mails, home banking, instant messengers, web-sites etc.). You can also associate an icon image to groups or applications.

Password generator

You can generate safe random passwords by the PassLocker password generator: You can generate case sensitive passwords or keywords that contains special characters. Another interesting functionality of this tool is the possibility to create mnemonic passwords, easy to remember but hardly to force.
