Password Depot 4.0.5-A safe manager for all your passwords

http://password-depot.en.softonic.com

Creating new passwords every time I register for a online service is getting harder and harder. But before starting to use the same word everywhere and thus compromising my security, I'd rather use a password manager.

If you're in the same situation, Acebit Password Depot is probably your best choice. This comprehensive manager can handle all the usernames and passwords for all kinds of services, from online banking to FTP servers, including forums, blogs, email addresses and just about any other place where you're requested a password.

All your passwords are stored in a single database that can be saved in various locations (local drive, USB device, Internet server) and protected with a master password, a key file or both. You can organize your passwords in different categories and also assign an expiry date to them so that you're forced to change them on a regular basis.

In case you run out of ideas when coming up with new passwords, the program includes a password generator but I didn't find it that useful: it grabs characters from a Matrix-like code stream and doesn’t really produce usable passwords.

Acebit Password Depot still keeps an ace up its sleeve though: its seamless integration with your web browser, which enables you to manage passwords comfortably while you're browsing the Internet without having to change from one application to another.

Acebit Password Depot is as near to perfection as any password manager would like to reach: easy enough for the beginner and full of handy tools for expert users

Download Password Depot 4.0.5 in Softonic

http://blackbox-password-manager.en.softonic.com

I don't know about you, but I forget at least one of my passwords practically every day. It's not really surprising, given that lots of us have multiple passwords to remember, and need to use them constantly throughout the day. Give your poor mind a rest by investing in a good password manager like BlackBox Password Manager.

The fist thing that BlackBox Password Manager will ask you to do is pick a master password for the program. Obviously you'll need this when you log in, so it's really important that it isn't easy to guess - if someone else gets their hands on it, all of your passwords are at risk. Once you have inputted all the passwords you want BlackBox Password Manager to remember, you'll be able to export the file in various formats, allowing you to access it from another computer or attach it to an email.

When you start entering your passwords into BlackBox Password Manager, you'll notice the huge variety of options you have. For each password, you can specify multiple details about the account it corresponds to, and if you need the program to generate a password for you, you'll have an incredible number of options for generating new ones. In fact, people who are new to using a password manager might find BlackBox Password Manager's attention to detail a little overwhelming, but the bottom line is that if you want to include only the basics, you can.

BlackBox Password Manager is an complete password manager for all users.

Download BlackBox Password Manager 3.4.0 in Softonic

Password Prime 1.2-Save usernames and passwords in one app

http://password-prime.en.softonic.com

If you're just storing your passwords and usernames in a document on your PC, then you're leaving yourself vulnerable to attack from hackers and spyware that can easily extract such information via the net.

The most secure solution is to store such data in a password protection utility such as Password Prime. The application works by memorizing passwords and usernames and then allowing you to use one password to recall them all every time you visit secure sites. Password Prime adds itself to your Windows shell so that adding new passwords and usernames is easy. Of course, everything is encrypted via complex algorithms to ensure that your data is not compromised.

In addition, each username and password entry includes quick links that take you directly to the website or location where your password is used. The plus side of this program is that it's completely free and there doesn't seem to be any adware supporting it. However, this also means that you have no comeback if your security is compromised. The developers assure that your credentials are protected by their own "System Sentinel" but fails to reveal what kind of encryption it uses.

Password Prime is a simple to use and free password and username manager that will save your precious and tedious time spent entering the same old usernames and passwords.

Download Password Prime 1.2 in Softonic

KeePass 2.16-A good free password manager

http://keepass.en.softonic.com

KeePass is a free, open source password manager for home users.

Good password management is essential to stay safe, on and offline. These days, services and programs are so many and varied that keeping track of your passwords across devices, websites and apps can be near-on impossible. That's where a password manager like KeePass comes into play.

Easy to use

This app doesn't require installation, and presents a simple, easy-to-navigate interface. First off, the app will ask you to define a master password. As this is the main step and the first line of KeePass' defences, it's essential that it's a good one. To this end, KeePass will assess the master password's strength, as well as offering extra protection like a key file option and the ability to enable a Windows user account backup, in case a user account is lost.

Once you've set up a master KeePass password, you'll want to go about setting up password databases and groups - categories of password-protected information. How you organize these is up to you - you could have a work and a personal database, for example, filled with groups like banking, internet and social networks. Setting these up is easy, as KeePass walks you through each step with a clear and detailed wizard-like approach.

Using your passwords

Navigating the KeePass interface is very intuitive. Right-click on an entry to modify it, and use the icons along the top of the window to perform the most basic KeePass tasks. In order to actually use your passwords, you'll need to have the app open. You can then copy the password information you need to the clipboard, where it will be erased automatically after a few seconds.

Unfortunately, it's here on the internet integration that Keepass loses a few points. It's not bad by any means, but it's just not as smooth an experience as other similar apps like <taglink type="program" country="en" id="319005">Sticky Password Free</taglink> or <taglink type="program" country="en" id="71781">BlackBox Password Manager</taglink>.

KeePass is a very good password manager that's great on options, but not so hot on online integration.

Download KeePass 2.16 in Softonic

Password Dragon 5.0.8-Portable secure password manager

http://password-dragon.en.softonic.com

With the number of available online tools and services, you'll be probably creating a couple of new usernames and personal profiles everyday. The question is, are you sure you remember al those passwords?

If your memory is already crammed with usernames, logins, password and the likes, you definitely need a password manager like Password Dragon. This simple tool takes care of all your passwords, enabling you to save them all in a safe, categorized database. Plus, being a Java-based app, you can run it on any operating system and even take it with you in a USB memory stick. Then, whenever you need you use your passwords, simply run the program and select the one you want.

To be honest, Password Dragon is possibly not the nicest app you've ever seen in terms of graphic design. Its interface supports skins but as any other Java tool, design is not the strongest point in this program. However Password Dragon does make up for it by presenting a really handy tool with a wide array of options to manage and protect your passwords.

You'll be able to create a complete entry for each of your passwords, including a password strength indicator and also a password generator in case you run out of ideas. The database is then encrypted and protected by one single, master password – the only one you'll need to remember from now on. The program also includes support to export and import your database.

Password Dragon lets you manage all your passwords in a straightforward –though somewhat dull – interface. It includes interesting extra tools such as a password strength measurer and a password generator.

Download Password Dragon 5.0.8 in Softonic

Password Memory 2010 3.0-An easier way to remember lots of passwords

http://password-memory.en.softonic.com

Remembering passwords is never easy, especially with so many different sites requiring some kind of registration.

Password Memory 2009 encrypts and manages your passwords and helps you to log in to websites much more easily and quickly than having to enter them every time you visit them. Firefox already offers this option although Password memory 2009 is surely a much safer way of storing particularly sensitive passwords (such as for banking sites). In fact, Password Memory 2009 uses several different algorithms to guarantee a very high level of security.

The interface follows the same format as that of Microsoft Office and simply requires you to add passwords into a clipboard where they will then be automatically transferred into the right fields when you surf to that particular site. If you want a hard copy of your passwords, you can also export them to XML, HTML, text files and Excel in a few clicks.

http://1password.en.softonic.com

If you're looking for a way of managing multiple passwords, take a look at 1Password, a rock-solid application to record your logins and, most importantly, keep them encrypted and totally safe.

1Password is hugely popular on Macs and so it's exciting to see it finally released for Windows. The first step when using 1Password is to define a master password. Then you'll see the main interface, where you can manually add passwords and logons, as well as other sensitive information, such as bank and membership information, online identities and even secure notes.

The best feature of 1Password however, is that you don't have to manually add anything - the app is integrated with both Firefox and Internet Explorer and will monitor your surfing for passwords, ask you if you want to save them and store them for future use. You can generate a random password when needed, and every password is assessed for security.

You'll also be able to manage all your passwords with 1Password, sorting, editing and filing them so you never loose track. The app also has some nice additional features, such as an auto-lock feature, automatic back-ups and a search function. All in all, 1Password is an excellent password management app.

If you have more passwords than you care to remember, turn to 1Password for some extra help.

Download 1Password 1.0.8.215 in Softonic

http://password-tracker-deluxe.en.softonic.com

As the developers point out, remembering passwords can be an absolute nightmare and with more and more needed on the internet, it's an increasing headache.

Password Tracker Deluxe stores passwords and usernames securely (via encryption) on your computer so you don't have to remember them. This doesn't mean that they are entered automatically into text fields. It just means that they are easily accessible from the Windows desktop system tray which is highly convenient if you need them at short notice. Password Tracker Deluxe can also remind you to change your passwords, and even assist you in creating newer, random and more secure passwords if you feel they are not secure enough or vulnerable to decryption. If you feel secure enough doing so, there's also the option to print out your passwords in a huge list or export them to an Excel file.

This is a very simple program that does it's job well and presuming that it never gets decrypted by outside forces, you should surf with peace of mind.

Download Password Tracker Deluxe 3.63 in Softonic

Managing passwords is a difficult and sometimes stressful ordeal if you've got hundreds of different ones for various sites but Lastpass makes life that bit easier.

Lastpass is basically a free password manager that makes your web browsing easier and more secure by bringing everything under one password. Lastpass can create strong passwords that protect all sites, meaning that logging into your favorite browser, network or secure network becomes a one-step affair.

Lastpass is particularly useful for those that want to work together securely in different locations because it allows you share credentials to log in via Lastpass. This includes those that are working on Mac and Windows platforms as it works across both. Of course, the big concern is security - if your Lastpass password is lost or obtained by someone else, it makes everything protected under it vulnerable. However, it does use SSL and RSA encryption so you should be OK.

Lastpass is a great way to manage passwords under one umbrella without worrying about remembering the access credentials to them all.

Download Lastpass 1.72.0 in Softonic

http://keypass.en.softonic.com

KeyPass is a versatile password manager that types your passwords for you. Unlike other password managers that require tedious cut-and-paste or drag-and-drop operations to enter your passwords, KeyPass types the passwords for you when a user-defined "hot key" is pressed. As such, it works with any browser or application, including web browsers, terminal emulators and corporate services.

The information is encrypted using 448-bit blowfish algorithm and a master password is required to unlock the information in the database. This means that only you can access secret information such as passwords, credit card details, PIN numbers and any sensitive documents you have.

Unlike other password managers that write configuration information to the Windows registry, KeyPass stores everything in the encrypted database so that it can be run without prior installation. This allows you to carry all your sensitive information with you wherever you go.

Password Corral is a somewhat odd name for a quite handy password manager, thanks to which you’ll never forget a password again.

Like many other password managers, Password Corral stores all your passwords into a database that’s protected with a single master password – the only one you’ll need to remember from now on. This database is encrypted for an extra layer of security.

Using Password Corral is really simple. You can create as many different groups of passwords as you want, with as many entries in each one of them as necessary. Each entry contains all the information you need: username, password, web address, email address, and an open field to leave personal fields. You can also set an expiration date to your passwords, and export the Password Corral database to a variety of formats.

One thing missing in Password Corral was a password generator, which you usually find in this type of app. You can use a button to generate passwords when you’re filling in the database, but it’s not the proper password generating tool we expected to find. Also, the Help file doesn’t seem to be available under Windows 7 and Vista.

Password Corral is a handy, simple password manager that will help you remember all your passwords without an extra memory effort.

Download Password Corral 4.0.4 in Softonic
