FirewallPAPI 1.4 - Protect your PC and create security rules

FirewallPAPI is a specialised firewall that specifically routes traffic that uses the TCP and UDP protocols. It does this using three key parameters - the IP of origin, destination and the input and output port that's being targeted.

Key to the attraction of this firewall is the fact that is extremely light on resources. In fact, all it really does is send packets of data to the three key areas mentioned above to continually test their integrity. Once it detects a strange or irregular response, it automatically triggers the alarm. The downside of this however is that since it's in continual packet sending mode, it can have a slight slow down effect on your PC and internet connection speed.

This application has mainly been developed for users who want to create their own rules because none are installed by default meaning the firewall needs quite a bit of customisation before you can use it.

For those that are confident of firewall configuration and want a lightweight solution, FirewallPAPI is a solid solution but beginners should stay clear.

Iparmor acts as a virtual soldier to stand guard of your PC. It detects and kill both known and unknown trojans. This useful system-tray utility packs a lot of punch and the known virus database can be updated daily.

It has a host of tools to help protect you from Net attacks. Upon startup, it scans your memory for trojan-like activity and immediately disables any suspicious tasks and reports its findings. You can restore any system critical files for the next reboot. Iparmor allows you to view all remaining currently active processes, scan currently active ports, and lists those applications that are registered to start when Windows next loads.

The major remedy that this program offered is to automatically stop and disable discovered or suspected trojans. Iparmor also lets you manually kill other active processes, but does not edit or interfere with your registry start-up list. Other tools include logging and network support.

ICFMeister 2.2.0.0 - Monitor the activities of Windows XP's built in Firewall

ICFMeister is designed specifically for monitoring the activities of the Windows XP Firewall. The information ICFMeister delivers can help you detect hacking attempts and sort out problems with internet-capable programs on your computer. A single installation can harvest ICF log data throughout your network without the need for multiple licences. ICFMeister reads the logs generated by the ICF on your PC and on other XP computers in your network, and presents them to you in a consistent, easy to read format.

Where possible, ICFMeister provides additional information to help make sense of the log data. Hover the mouse over an IP address, and you see the corresponding network name in a tooltip. Hover over a port number, and you get the most common uses of that port. You can filter, sort and reorganize display columns to assist with detailed analysis and data presentation. Floating satellite windows let you minimize ICFMeister to your system tray yet still see the latest data as it arrives.

At any time you can export a log in various formats including text, csv, xml, and formatted html reports. This makes it easy to import filtered data into databases or analysis applications such as Excel. You can even publish your logs as RSS feeds. ICFMeister will monitor your logs 24/7, watching out for firewall activity that interests you. For example, you can configure ICFMeister to alert you to possible hacking attempts by issuing visual and audio alerts, sending emails, outputting separate logs and even running your own scripts.

ICFMeister is based on the universal log reader, LogMeister, and shares it's powerful anaylisis, monitoring and notification features. Whether you're a home user, power user, developer or system administrator, you will love ICFMeister's extensive yet easy to use features.

AntiFirewall 1.10 - Firewall Terminator & Anonymizing Software

Connect to Newsgroups, FTP, IRC, ICQ and Email (POP/IMAP) even if you are behind a firewall blocking access to these programs/protocols. AntiFirewall will penetrate the firewall and connect to the Internet address of your choice, making it possible for you to read and post to Newsgroups and use FTP, IRC, ICQ from behind the firewall.

Anonymize your connections to Newsgroups, FTP, IRC, ICQ and Email (POP/IMAP). Talk safely to perfect strangers: the destination computers won't know your true IP address (it will be replaced by a different address, which they won't be able to trace back to your company or home computer). If you have no firewall to break free from, you can still use AntiFirewall as effective anonymizing software.
