MP3Videoraptor features a original design– not that usable though - with a built-in search tool and also a special area where you can select downloads by genre and type. MP3Videoraptor uses several video and music online databases top find what you're looking for.

Management of downloads is quite handy as you can stop and start downloads at will - all downloads go directly into an easy to access downloads folder button at the foot of the screen. MP3Videoraptor includes interesting extra tools like the possibility to burn a CD with your downloaded material, create a ringtone for your mobile phone, edit ID3 tags or even convert what you just downloaded to another format.

With plenty of material to choose from, you certainly won't get bored with MP3Videoraptor.

Since I keep my music library on different devices and computers I often get annoyed when a track is in one place and not in the other. I found that SuperSync is a good tool when it comes to easily synchronizing my music libraries between multiple computers. The well defined interface is very similar to that of Apple's iTunes, with a list of all track from all libraries appearing at the bottom of the interface. The top part is divided into sections for filters, genre, artist and album. The application helps you to import your music from iTunes or from a hard drive and you can easily search for other local music servers. On a side note, SuperSync also feature a nice little tool to analyze your IP address and know if your connection will enable you to use SuperSync's servers to transfer tracks.

The interface feels well structured, yet we would have liked to be able to resize the different sections around, as the top part feels a bit scrunched up in the program window. SuperSync features a music player to listen to tracks, but it feels pretty limited, as it only really lets you play stop, or move to other tracks.

SuperSync simplifies transferring music between computers. Make sure you stay in the realms of legality when sharing music tracks though!

Do you like the sound of wind chimes but most of the day you are in a closed environment? Switching on a fan to let your wind chime to play soft melodic music is not the most environmentally friendly solution. What about trying this MindCimes which generates relaxing sound in a Zen/oriental style?

Personally I found the sound created by this software a bit annoying and after a while it unnerved me and distracted me a lot. The application produces random sounds made of long silences followed by moments of random notes. It is really not at all like the effect you get with a real wind chime. That said, you may want to try it anyway, so bear it in mind during the installation process to tick the option that creates an icon in your desktop, otherwise you will not be able to find the programme anymore. The link to the program in fact, doesn't appear in the Start menu, where instead you can only see the uninstall option; not very usable at all.

You can have fun creating your own personal chimes by selecting the chime types, the wind intensity and the kind of note the program will play. Regarding the latter, you can do that by selecting a range of colours which are linked to a certain range of note.

Mojo not only allows you to share iTunes library with others, but it will also let you download tracks from other people's libraries.

With an interface reminiscent of both iTunes and a messaging client, Mojo is easy to work with. It will display all libraries, that is if you have found others to connect with, in a list. Clicking on a library will bring up an iTunes like interface from which you can see all your tracks (in grey), protected songs (in red) and your contacts' songs. You can also see other iTunes sections like shows, movies or podcasts and even subscribe to others' playlists. Changes will be automatically downloaded to your library so you are always up to date.

Mojo offers a basic playback function at the bottom left to listen to the tracks and you'll notice you can download tracks via the button on the bottom right. The process is fairly quick with an audio file but can take more time with video. Mojo is very enjoyable to use but unfortunately it can be difficult to find other users also connected to Mojo. Both of you will have to agree on the port to use to share songs.

Despite some difficulties in finding other users to share libraries with, Mojo is an enjoyable program to listen to other iTunes libraries.

Songbeat is a nicely designed application that enables you to listen to music online and also download the correspondent MP3 files right to your desktop.

The program works in a very basic way. Its interface is divided into several sections from which you can search for your favorite songs, view search results and check downloaded files. Be aware of potential law infringement when downloading copyrighted material, though, because Songbeat doesn't really distinguish between free music and copyrighted music.

While searching for MP3s on the Web, you can listen to music in streaming with Songbeat's embedded player. The sound quality is surprisingly good, but the player in itself is too basic – it doesn't even have a "pause" function, so if you stop it, you won't be able to resume the song and will have to start it over from the beginning.

The idea behind Songbeat – listening to music and downloading it – is good, but the program in itself feels a bit too basic.

When I read that Mufin MusicFinder was able to find new music based on the songs I like, I downloaded it immediately. I was willing to test a program with the ability to recommend new singers and bands that follow the same music style I like. I thought this was just a cool technology!

However, I was disappointed when I saw that this function is, according to the program's message, temporarily unavailable. The comparison tool does work with your own MP3 library, meaning that you can create playlists that follow a certain style or mood based on a song you select. But the online mode doesn't work and I found that very disappointing.

On the upside, Mufin MusicFinder works as a great music manager, where you can browse your collection by artist, album or genre, create playlists to copy to your portable devices and record on CD or DVD, and enjoy your favourite music with a handy, basic built-in media player.

If you switch between WMP and iTunes, you'll know how tricky it is to keep your libraries in synch. Usually you have to do it manually and that can be a real pain if not impossible. Please note that MusicBridge does not copy songs between iTunes and WMP, and it does not let WMP play AAC/Mp4 files - it simply allows you to copy meta-data between the two.

For MusicBridge to work both WMP and iTunes must be pointing at the same set of files in the same location on your hard drive and those files must be playable in both applications. MusicBridge does not copy or move any music files from one application to the other. Additionally iTunes, WMP and MusicBridge must all be running on the same machine.

If you're not convinced by either iTunes or WMP but like to keep them both rolling, then this is an impressive, if not perfect solution.

I have a guitar, yet being completely tone deaf makes playing the thing quite a challenging hobby for me. Although I'm fine once I'm playing the chords, I find it difficult to tune it because I can't regonise the notes. I have an electronic tuner but I found that AP Tuner worked much better for me because of the sheer amount of options it presents you with, such as the ability to view and listen to a graph of musical notes and a library of sounds that can be customised by the user.

The program can detect all audible tones and is accurate to within 0.1 cents. I found the interface pretty straightforward to navigate, although the lack of a decent glossary means it can be tricky if you aren't well-versed in musical terminology. Thankfully, however, tone deafness is not a problem when using the app.

iTunes is a great music organizer, but it keeps you tied to it as there's no way to export the playlists created in iTunes to other applications or formats. Well, that was until today, because now iTunes Export enables you to export iTunes playlists to M3U, the standard playlist format, and therefore use them almost on any audio player.

This small tool, which requires no installation, is extremely easy to use. Simply run it and follow the instructions along the three steps of the whole process. It's so simple and efficient that we really missed the possibility to also export single songs. Plus, it would have been nice to be able to review the content of playlists before exporting them.

If you write regularly, you'll know that sometimes you simply get stuck for inspiration. MasterWriter aims to prevent writers block, particularly for those who write songs.
