QuickGamma 2.0.0.3 - Calibrate a monitor on the fly without having to buy expensive hardware tools

QuickGamma allows you to set the gamma correction for your monitor on the fly to match the recommended Windows gamma of 2.2. In fact you should run QuickGamma on every Windows startup after the monitor has warmed up (15 to 30 minutes) and whenever the ambient light conditions have changed.

Once you have found the optimum gamma correction for your monitor at the usual ambient light conditions, you should save the gamma correction setting as default for the QuickGammaLoader utility. This default gamma correction setting can be restored automatically at each Windows startup by QuickGammaLoader.

Passmark MonitorTest 3.0 - Investigate the quality and performance of your monitor

MonitorTest is a tool that allows users to investigate the quality and performance of their computer monitor or LCD flat panel screens. With more people spending more time in front of computer monitors it is important to purchase a quality monitor that will provide crisp, bright images, while reducing the strain on your eyes.

MonitorTest displays a series of specially designed images on the screen at a variety of different resolutions and color depths to test for optimum visual performance. Each of 25 different test screens have been created to test a particular aspect of the monitors performance. As a monitor is often the most expensive part of a computer system, this type of testing is essential for the adjustment & selection of a quality monitor.

Users would include computer repair centers, system integrators, quality assurance personnel, graphic designers and anyone that cares about the quality of their monitor. MonitorTest runs in Windows and will work at any resolution, aspect ratio and color depth supported by your monitor and graphics card.

Display Tuner 1.6 - Adjust your monitor more easily

Controlling your monitor is something that Windows fails to provide adequate support for no matter what version you have.

Display Tuner aims to fill that vacuum by providing instant desktop access to your monitor settings such as brightness, contrast, color settings or geometry. It even extends to adjusting the speaker settings of your monitor although I don't recommend that you use monitor speakers anyway - it's always best to use a separate sound system. Like with any music application, you can define several monitor profiles with different color settings such as "Films", "Text", "Games" in the same way as you define "Disco" and "Club" equalizer settings with a music application. The Display Tuner meanwhile allows you to easily change the color settings by just hitting a hotkey meaning you'll never need to reach under your monitor and find those awkward to reach controls. Note that the program doesn't support all video cards but it works with nVidia, ATI, Intel, S3, SiS, Matrox, etc.

Display Tuner is an excellent way to control your monitor without even having to touch it physically.
