Developed by the creators of the popular recording suite, Nero Kwik Media is very similar to other Nero apps in terms of interface design and usability – but unfortunately also in more negative aspects like lengthy installations and a somewhat excessive weight on system resources.

That said, the truth is that Nero Kwik Media is quite a nice media manager. It automatically scans the most common places where you store your media files, and adds them to a centralized library, neatly organized by groups or tags. The image module includes basic photo retouching and optimization tools, while the audio player lets you burn custom music CDs.

Other interesting features included in Nero Kwik Media are a quick photo slideshow creation tool, support to create and play audio playlists and the possibility to share content online by uploading it to Flickr, YouTube and Facebook right from Nero Kwik Media.

Tagg enables you to do exactly the same with all files in your hard drive: tag them with meaningful, descriptive words that help you categorize data in a more convenient way, beyond the typical folder structure. File tagging in done in the Tag file tab and requires files to be scanned before starting to actually tag them. While the scanning process is quite fast, it can take a while depending on the number of files you plan to tag. Tagg includes a handy preview window, but unfortunately it soon stops working due to trial limitations.

Once the program finishes scanning, files are ready to tag. You can add up to 18 different tags to files, although I must say the process is somewhat tiring. Also, after having tagged a certain amount of files simultaneously, you can only add new tags to them by selecting them one by one.

Tagg offers an innovative and handy way to categorize and search files in your hard drive.

If you have folders that house all of your downloads or images, they can quickly become overloaded and difficult to sort through. SubDive is a little EXE file that you can put in such a folder, and when you run it, it will sort your files into dated folders.

The interface is really simple, with a 'Sort this folder now' button, which does exactly that, and a 'Settings' button, which is currently unavailable. It's totally portable, so you can also use it to keep a USB drive organized too.

With this 1.0 release, there's nothing else to SubDiv. It is a useful program, but obviously it will be improved when there are options to set how it organizes folders. It could also be improved it it was somehow automated.

Despite being very basic, you can tidy up an overfull folder in a flash with SubDiv. Look out for updates to this promising app!
