Well, now there is. It's called Free Video Flip and Rotate and it's a very simple tool with which you can easily rotate or flip all your videos. Simply select the video you want to work with, choose the preset you want you apply and click on Start.

The whole process is really easy and takes only a few minutes. On the downside, the program doesn't allow users to create new presets and can only save fixed videos in AVI format, no matter what the source format is.

YouCam and easily be the main photo and video application for your Windows 8 tablet. It launches quickly and has a ton of effects to mess around with. You can choose frames, video effects, photo effects, and distortion filters.

You can easily switch between taking photos and videos with the slider on the top right. Taking pictures is snappy and they show up immediately in the camera roll. YouCam allows you to add effects to photos and videos after they have been taken.

Other than all the silly photo and video effects, YouCam is pretty basic. There's an eye icon on the top left that allows you to "enhance" your image or video. I found that it just boosts the exposure.

Overall, YouCam is a simple, easy to use photo and video application that you can comfortably use as your default photo and video application on Windows 8. Its not as much of a copy of Apple's Photo booth as Photo Booth for Windows 7 and we appreciate YouCam trying to differentiate itself.

Although its effects are a bit gimmicky, its ease of use and snappy interface makes it a recommended program.

It's much easier to use VideoCacheView and let it recover all the videos you've watched online for you. This program analyzes your web browser's cache (from both Internet Explorer and Firefox) and extracts all the video files stored in it. You can then watch them again in VideoCacheView, as long as you have the right player. What's more, the program also includes a link to download the file to your hard drive.

VideoCacheView is great to review videos you specially enjoyed, but it does have some limitations: for example, videos are not always stored in cache while you play them online, which means VideoCacheView won't be able to recover them. Also, if you want to access the latest videos you've watched, you'll have to close the web browser.

The good news is that many of these channels are useful (especially for sports fans) and the streaming quality is stable and high quality. The media player looks slick and refined and it loads incredibly quickly. You can watch CNN, Fox News and other custom made channels by users such as News 24/7 and lots of Japanese cartoon channels.

You can view channels by most viewed, most discussed and top rated and all of these inevitably mean sports channels - either football or golf. You can view any channel in full screen mode simply by double clicking on the screen or using the expander button at the base of the screen. Unfortunately, you can't chat with other users viewing the channels although there is a lively forum.

Veetle is an excellent innovation that brings quality TV viewing directly to your browser. It could do with a more organized way of listing channels and schedules but it's a very good start.

The toolbar is easy to install, and works with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. In the installation process, you’ll be asked if you want to change a number of settings, such as your default search provider and homepage, but you can easily say no.

Obviously, being a toolbar, Vixy Freecorder comes with a lot of functions, but the main feature is the downloading module. It works very simply – just browse as normal, and when you want to download, access the Video History button and choose the videos you want to save or view again. Vixy Freecorder also installs an .FLV player, so you’ll be able view your videos directly.

The rest of Vixy Freecorder’s toolbar functions are a real mixed bag. There are various search providers, app stores, radio, chat, TV and more. If you’re a toolbar fan, you’ll love the flexibility offered by Vixy Freecorder – you can add or change all of the modules and visually, it’s pretty appealing.

That said, there are a million toolbar-free options that do the same job as Vixy Freecorder without all the bells and whistles. If you want to download videos, but not the toolbar, check out YouTube Downloader HD or YouTube Downloader. They’re much more slimline apps.

Vixy Freecorder does a good job of downloading video and audio. If you’re into toolbars, it’s a good option.

Usually you have no choice but to find an alternative download but not so with Digital Video Repair. It can repair AVI files in a number of incomplete download scenarios such as failure to completely copy from CD, DVD or other source and when an AVI file has not completely downloaded from the Internet on a P2P app such as eDonkey or BitTorrent. Alternatively, it can help when you find that video is freezed when playing, it won't rewind or fast forward properly or when the play button simply doesn't get you anywhere. Well that's the theory anyway. In practice, there are so many reasons why files won't play including codec issues and corrupted downloads that it's impossible that any one program can solve all of your problems. Then of course, there's the simple problem of CD's and DVD's that won't read properly which there's nothing much you can do about. More often than not, the program will process your AVI files but you'll notice no improvement afterwards.

A nice idea and probably useful for very superficial playback problems but if you're file is seriously corrupted or you've got codec problems, this won't be of much use.

Screen recording is child's play with TipCam. This program enables you to capture any activity that takes place on your screen and save it as an online video that you can share with anybody. You can show off your latest battles in your favorite game, or help a customer that needs assistance with a particular software application.

TipCam is very easy to use. You can enable, pause and resume screen recording with hotkeys, plus make the "camera" follow your mouse with its pan/zoom function, although there's no possibility to define the size of this zoom.

On the downside, the program only saves videos to FLV. That said, if you want to publish them online, you can use the developer's website - after signing up for free. While this can be a good way to share them, I'd still prefer having a wider format variety to save my videos.

With TipCam you can easily record any activity on your screen. Unfortunately videos are saved only in FLV format .

Once Jahshaka has started, you'll be presented with a blank desktop similar to a windows desktop where you manage all your media. You simply load some clips onto this desktop and they will appear as image thumbnails. All the editing done in Jahshaka is performed in real time because the program has been designed to get the best out of even the slowest processors. Probably the most impressive feature of the program is the morphing interface which allows you to create and pre-visualise effects in real time. You can literally drag and twist video images to your liking until you've got it right and are ready to render.

The program accepts video in almost any format including huge HDTV files. It's also been designed with collaboration in mind as you can run it directly from a server to share with other editors. The animator is considerably harder to use although with patience, you can achieve some very impressive results. To view your creations, there's also the Jahplayer media player. Just return to the desktop, right click on one of the clips and select "open in Jahplayer". It's pretty basic but it allows you to easily preview your videos as you go along.

This is still very much a work in progress but if you're looking for a cheap solution to video editing, you'll be really impressed by Jahshaka.

DivXLand Media Subtitler gives you two options for the task - creating your own subtitles or downloading them from another source. The program comes with good help that provides easy-to-understand instructions for both approaches. Whichever method you use, you'll need to upload your media and check that the subtitles match your audio and video files. This can be a time-consuming task depending on the length of the film, but DivXLand Media Subtitler makes it as easy as possible.

DivXLand Media Subtitler has lots of configuration options, both for the program itself and the way in which you the subtitles appear on your film. You can choose everything, from the physical appearance of the words (bold, italic, red, large) to the way you associate them to the video, using a semi-automatic method or a specific, time-based approach. Of course, you can preview everything, and change what is needed, even using a spellcheck function to ensure that your subtitles are top class.

The only part of DivXLand Media Subtitler that left me a little confused was the audio extraction wizard. Presumably the mysterious "audio bar" on the main interface is related to it, but when I tried to use the wizard, it seemed that I needed to download extra programs, which was a bit of a disappointment.

Subtitling is by no means an easy job, but DivXLand Media Subtitler will at least help make it a little simpler.

Once installed, Capture Fox is accessible from the tools menu, and recording begins once you've chosen the capture area, video quality and sound. Sound is only recorded from a microphone if you have one and want a commentary on your screencast - you can't record sound from web-pages or other programs. There is a timer on the Firefox browser's bottom left so you can keep an eye on your progress, and the recording is stopped by opening the tools menu and clicking 'Capture Fox' again.

Capture Fox is extremely easy to use, and despite still being under development, we didn't experience any bugs using it. The quality of the video is passable, although it only runs at 2 frames a second, so you can't effectively capture video, just more basic movements. The sound recording is good, so for a functional looking screencast, Capture Fox will do the trick.

If you don't require a high frame rate for your screencast, Capture Fox will suit you perfectly, and it's great having this function in Firefox.
