Who hasn't dreamed of one day making millions as a hacker? In Uplink you perform all sorts of jobs for major corporations, hacking into servers, stealing files and making money in the process.

Uplink adds a realistic touch to the game, as you start out by being hired and have a set of software tools, including crackers and file removers, to work with. You regularly receive missions via email, which you can decide to perform any time.

The game is obviously aimed at geeks, or anyone who was left fascinated with the Matrix as it includes a very technical side to it, where you can actually check the performances of your own PC and improve it. You'll also have to manage the money you earn wisely, as you can invest in shares and monitor the stock market.

Despite weak graphics, Uplink is a very exciting game with a strategical side to it. Will appeal to wannabe hackers.

The Sudoku fad seems to have come and gone and is now being supplanted by brain training variations. Sudoku still remains an enjoyable logic game, especially for those of you that are good with numbers.

SudokuAdept will please Sudoku fans, but is probably most suited to beginners. The game lets you set different levels of difficulty, and you adjust settings like showing bad squares, accept only correct numbers, or have a possibilities compact layout. If you're worried that you might get stuck on one Sudoku, you can always enable automatica puzzle solving to give you a hand.

Experienced Sudoku players probably will not find Sudoku Adept challenging enough, as it does not provide that many difficulty levels to play with. Yet for anybody new to the logic game, SudokuAdept really provides a great way to get started and learn all the tricks.

Thanks to lots of help and varying difficulty levels, SudokuAdept is ideal for people looking to learn all about the logic game. Experienced players should look elsewhere.

iConquer is a Risk like game for Mac with a friendly Aqua interface.

If you love the strategy turn-based war game, then iConquer is right up your alley. The game pits you against other opponents in your quest to dominate the world, building up your army, winning territories and annihilating others in the process. iConquer is enjoyable to play, thanks to smooth Aqua graphics and simple animations.

The game allows you to play both offline and online. The latter sounds exciting as it pairs up with iChat to allow you to taunt your opponents. However we never managed to connect and find other opponents. If you play offline you'll be pitted against the AI, which we found a little too easy to beat most of the time.

iConquer gives you a number of statistics to look through, including some graphs to see who's on top in terms of victories, armies, income or more. You can also get a detailed listing of who owns which region on the map and how many armies they have.

Even though online play doesn't work and the offline game can be too easy, iConquer is an enjoyable version of Risk with a nice interface.

Commander – Europe at War is a thrilling hex-base war game to reenact World War II. Whether you choose the Axis or Allies you'll be able to relive all the important battles.

The game has obviously been developed by a team that already has good experience on war games, which gives the assurance of seeing a solid war title. Commander offers six different scenarios and very detailed information and historical references. Strategy gamers will love all the advanced controls and features, like being able to develop new technologies, managing your different armies and taking care of supplies, morale and health. With control of land, sea and air forces, you'll be able to take part in very diverse missions worldwide.

The game board itself is very well designed, although it can get a bit crowded with units. You can zoom in on specific regions and get information on cities and armies. The vehicles and infantry are well recreated and the ability to recruit famous commanders adds a bit more realism to the game. While playing alone vs the CPU will prove enough of a challenge you can also connect with other Commander users online. In terms of performances, the game can take a bit of time to load between turns, but that's something to expect with turn based games.

A challenging hex based game, Commander - Europe at War immerses you completely into WWII.

Scorched 3D is a game based loosely (or actually quite heavily now) on the classic DOS game Scorched Earth "The Mother Of All Games". Scorched 3D adds amongst other new features a 3D island environment and LAN and internet play.

At its lowest level, Scorched 3D is just an artillery game with two+ tanks taking turns to destroy opponents in an arena. Choose the angle, direction and power of each shot, launch your weapon, and try to blow up other tanks.

But Scorched 3D can be a lot more complex than that, if you want it to be. You can earn money from successful battles and use it to invest in additional weapons and accessories. You can play with up to twenty four other players at a time, mixing computer players with humans. There's a variety of changing environmental conditions and terrains to be dealt with. After the end of each round (which ends when everybody dies or there's only one person left), you get to buy stuff using the prize money you won from previous matches.

Anyone stuck in an office cubicle or in front of a library computer with nothing to do has surely played the classic mine sweeper on PC. Uncover under which blocks the mines are hidden, based on the numbers you get when clicking on blocks. This game is a perfect little timewaster: incredibly addictive and timeless.

Mac users never really had an equivalent of the game, until it was transposed to their OS in the form of Mine Swept. This game resembles exactly the PC version (it even uses the same color values) and offers the same rules and levels. The game varies slightly in terms of controls. You have multiple clicking options to flag mines, can highlight neighbors of a square or even create your own custom minefield.

Mine Sweeper addicts who have switched to Mac will love this exact adaption of the classic game.

Launched in 1995 Transport Tycoon Deluxe is a classic economic simulation, where you aim to make it big by building and developing your own transport company. Grow your own transportation network and sell off goods to beat your main rivals and become the leader on the market.

Nostalgic fans of the game will be glad to discover OpenTTD, effectively a completely free version of the game. What's more it has been completely revamped. Graphics have been slightly improved, adding more color, and many new features are now included. The Euro is now part of currencies, you can bribe town authorities and set up international and metropolitan airports among others. Usability is also better, with new features like the autorail build tool or being able to get a cost estimation. You can even play online with up to 8 other players.

The only real drawback to the game is that you' ll the original version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files in order to make it work.

In all, anybody who's even the least bit interested in games should get their hands on this free version of an excellent classic simulation title.

Chicago 1930 is a thrilling real time strategy game taking place during the prohibition. We liked the whole background story to the game, with two alternatives depending on whether you're on the Mafia or Police side. The graphics and levels, abandoned wasteyards, brick factories and basements bring back memories of old gangster movies.

The game play itself is reminiscent of other real time strategy games like Red Alert. Choose your team members wisely based on the mission type and their own profiles, arm them with the right weapons and then guide them through the mission. Although we were disappointed not to find an in-game map view and often got lost as to what weapon was selected, the game offers good playability, with dragging and dropping being the best way to move your team around.

The blend of mobster themes and strategy features make Chicago 1930 a very exciting and original title for Mac.

In Orbital Trader each of the planets can only build one good type. This is where you and your only interplanetary spaceship in the system come in to make a killing profit.

Getting rich is easier than ever in Orbital Trader. Buying low and selling high is guaranteed - since each planet will only sell the one good it is producing and will pay well for all the others.

Getting rich fast is where the challenge is at. You'll have to navigate with much skill so you can visit as many planets as possible in the shortest amount of time. And if you think that only the expensive goods will be worth trading, think again. Maybe you won't get rich by trading food and medicine, but if you do the planetary populations will grow fast and you'll watch your profits explode.

RISK takes to the stars, but this time the armies move by themselves guided by your past orders. A truly unique and fascinating game of stellar conquest. The user interface is nothing short of magic. You can command multiple stars with just a stroke of the mouse and then watch the armies move from star to star obeying your orders without questioning.

The user interface is so simple I'm worried you won't notice the unique strategic gameplay of Pax Galaxia. Cunning attacks and deceitful retreats, dramatic encirclements and desperate break-through rescue efforts are the highpoints of a wonderfully dynamic game.
The difficulty ranges from extremely easy to nearly impossibly difficult. While the easy modes are suitable for a fun couple of minutes trying to beat your time records, the more difficult ones will require all your concentration and the mastery of all the tricks of the game to overcome the computer players.

As far as the value of this title goes, your $20 will be well spent. There are more than thirty maps to choose from, and you can quickly make many more using the random map generator and the easy to use in-game editor. You can choose between four levels of difficulty and each map can be played multiple times with each of the opposing forces. You'll be entertained for months.

Alice Greenfingers is much more than about planting flowers and watching them grow. This simulation game puts you in charge of a farm and you'll need to choose what flowers, vegetables and animals to have and manage your budget to be successful.

Alice Greenfingers lets you sell products from your farm, but you will have to be very aware of market trends to see what is in demand and what products are too expensive for you to purchase. As you make more money in Alice Greenfingers you will be able to grow your farm, have more buildings and plantations.

Alice Greenfingers displays a summary of your activities at the end of every day. Pay close attention to your wealth, health, popularity and knowledge levels. If one of these is dropping, it means something is going wrong.

The economic aspect of the game makes it exciting, however it doesn't ever really get to a really challenging level of difficulty. I did like the cartoonish graphics of Alice Greenfingers and designing your farm is really fun.
