Quinn however was built specifically for Mac and offers much more than just falling blocks.
Presented in a smooth OS friendly interface, it has its own set of pieces and more created by Quinn fans can be downloaded from the developer's site.
The game play is smooth and enjoyable, although sometimes the arrangement of falling pieces may not be random enough.
The program itself offers the typical one and two player games modes but adds network gaming, which can become highly addictive.
Quite a community has been built around Quinn, and the high scores are kept in different categories on the developer's page. To spice things up you can choose between five different multiplayer rules.

In all, Quinn, has managed to keep the true essence of tetromino games, whilst adding its own set of original features.
Portal 2-The cult action puzzle game returns

http://portal-2.en.softonic.com/mac

Portal 2 sees the long awaited return of GLaDOS and Chell for more mind-bending physics puzzles.

The original was set in a clinical, pristine Aperture Science facility, but in Portal 2 this place has fallen into disrepair. Set hundreds of years after the end of the first game, the heroine Chell awakes to find herself in a research facility that's overgrown and dilapidated. A robot 'personality sphere' meets Chell to help her, but in the process wakes up GLaDOS. She is not happy to see Chell, and so a series of deadly 'tests' begins again.

On PC and Mac Portal 2 looks great, with rich detailed environments and excellent animation. While the original's story was only really hinted at, here it is fleshed out and you will learn a lot about Aperture Science and the characters in the game. While Chell remains silent, GLaDOS and the personality sphere Wheatley are full of character and are both hilarious and terrifying.

Portal 2's puzzles are excellent. The Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device returns and works as normal, but there are many additions to the original's set of tools and traps: there are Pneumatic Diversity Vents, Propulsion and Repulsion Gels, Thermal Discouragement laser beams, Aerial Faith Plates and more. The increased length and expanded story mean Portal 2 is unlikely to be as iconic as the first, but the single player campaign is a fantastic ride, and once it's over there is another excellent series of two player cooperative tests to undertake with two excellently animated robots.

With its mix of puzzles, action and menacing humor, Portal 2 is one of the games of 2011.

Download Portal 2 in Softonic

Angry Birds Space Mac 1.4.0-Angry Birds rides again - in space!

http://angry-birds-space.en.softonic.com/mac

Angry Birds Space is a spin-off of the famous <taglink type="program" country="en" id="305539">Angry Birds</taglink> iOS game. Like <taglink type="program" country="en" id="317740">Angry Birds Rio</taglink> and <taglink type="program" country="en" id="3332678">Angry Birds Seasons</taglink>, it sends the pig-hating birds on a series of new adventures.

The gameplay in Angry Birds Space is different to all the other versions of the game in that the impact of gravity plays a role in your success. The basic principle of Angry Birds Space is the same as ever: catapult birds to break the structures and take out all of the pigs that sit on the various rocks and planets the other side of the screen.

This time though, you'll need to be more tactical because the gravitational pull will drag your birds in different directions. It makes for a more intelligent, and more diverse gaming experience.

There are 60 levels in Angry Birds Space, as well as fun bonus levels that spring up randomly as you play the game. The bonus games allow you to boost your points tally and unlock new items.

Angry Birds Space is the best looking game of the series so far, with out-of-this-world physics, lots of fun new birds with different super powers, and wonderful Space scenes. If you're playing on a device with a retina display then you're in for a real treat here.

The sound effects are better than ever, and the space-age take on that catchy Angry Birds soundtrack sounds great.

There's very little to fault in Angry Birds Space other than perhaps it's a little easy to get through the first levels. Surely new levels will be added to Angry Birds Space over time, but for now you shouldn't have a problem finishing the game within a couple of hours.

Angry Birds Space is the best version of the game so far, with graphics and gameplay that take casual gaming to a whole new dimension.

Download Angry Birds Space Mac 1.4.0 in Softonic

Portal-An unforgettable 3D puzzle experience

http://portal.en.softonic.com/mac

Portal is a fantastic 3D puzzle game set in the strange and frightening laboratories of Aperture Science.

Available on Mac and PC through <taglink type="program" country="en" id="96508">Steam</taglink>, now there is little excuse not to play one of the most original and enigmatic games of the last decade. In Portal you play a test subject, who is awoken by GLaDOS, a robot who runs the Aperture Laboratories and sends you on a series of tests 'for science'. Some of them may not be safe, but as she says, 'there will be cake' once it's over.

Original

Portal's big idea is the the 'handheld portal device', that allows subjects to open portals between two places. This means that instead of climbing a ladder for example, you can shoot a portal at the bottom, and another at the top, and simply walk through. It's makes more sense when you play! Check out the explanatory video here.

Graphics and gameplay

Portal looks good even though it was originally released in 2007, thanks to its clean, minimalist laboratory style. In game physics are absolutely perfect, and using the portals is great fun once you get the hang of it. It's such a great idea, you might find yourself wishing you could use them in real life too! The puzzles get pretty tough, but the learning curve makes sure you're ready for the challenges when the time comes.

The incredible thing about Portal is that is manages to be a compelling first person 3D adventure where your character never shoots a gun. There is a mystery behind who you are, what Aperture Science is and more, and it's fascinating to discover what's going on while you solve the puzzles. GLaDOS is one of the most iconic and effective 'baddies' you will meet in a video game too.

Conclusion

Portal is a must play. Download the demo right away and get going! Portal is an unforgettable experience, and thankfully the adventure continues in the equally brilliant sequel!

Download Portal in Softonic

Peggle Deluxe is an adaptation of the fun Bust-a-Move game, instead here you have to use your canon to shoot down orange pegs and bricks.

The game offers 55 different levels of varying difficulty, with more elements and pegs being added as you advance. Your aim is not only to eliminate all the orange pegs and bricks but also hope that your ball falls into the moving basket a the bottom, to collect more points and free balls.

When you hit your last peg, the game will switch to slow motion mode and zoom in on the action, until your ball hits the peg, releasing stars and rainbows, in what it calls 'extreme fever'.
Tetris Zone 1.2.1-The closest thing to Tetris on Mac

http://tetris-zone.en.softonic.com/mac

There is no official Tetris game for Mac but Tetris Zone is about as close as it gets.

Tetris Zone is a very accurate Tetris clone that offers four modes of play from a simple Challenge mode to a super fast Master mode. Tetris Zone accurately recreates the same 3D graphics and gameplay that makes Tetris so addictive. Note that this is a free demo for Macs, but the trial game limits your play and available feature set.

Specifically, there are four modes:

Marathon: How long can you last? (The closest thing to normal Tetris with 15 levels)
Challenge: Tests how far you can go in 10 minutes
Sprint: A race to clear 40 lines as fast as possible
Master: Super fast drops requires super fast thinking!

Beyond this, it doesn't offer any new innovations on the Tetris genre but it does give you full instant replays plus it stores your all-time and daily best scores. Your best scores are automatically uploaded to the worldwide Leader Board so you can compare yourself with the best in the World.

Tetris Zone is the closest thing to an official free demo of Tetris on Mac.

Download Tetris Zone 1.2.1 in Softonic

Chuzzle Deluxe 1.0-Match the Chuzzle critters as quick as you can

http://chuzzle-deluxe.en.softonic.com/mac

If you've ever played Bejeweled or Zuma then you may well enjoy Chuzzle Deluxe which sees you take control of some Gremlin-like fur balls that giggle, squeak, and sneeze as you poke and push them across the grid.

Of course, it's not just about pushing Gremlins around. Chuzzle Deluxe is essentially a match-three game which challenges you to match as many of the critters of the same color as possible. Your aim is to win trophies and in doing so, unlock secret game features that add new levels and bonuses to Chuzzle Deluxe. The game is controlled entirely by the mouse so you can drag Chuzzles of the same color in vertical or horizontal rows.

The only obstacles to your progress are 'no more moves' scenarios. These involve puzzle locks that randomly appear and lock the Chuzzles in place. In addition, some bigger (you could say 'fatter') Chuzzles end up taking up two rows at once which may or may not work in your advantage. If you get to the point where you simply find yourself without another move, you can use a limited number of 'Scrambles' which reset or shakeup the board.

There are 4 game modes to Chuzzle Deluxe - Classic Chuzzle, Speed Chuzzle, Zen Puzzle, and Mind Bender, which is perhaps the most challenging as you have to match the Chuzzles in specified patterns. Otherwise, as the name suggests, Speed Chuzzle is perhaps the other particularly challenging mode as it sees you match Chuzzles in a race against the clock. In the end however, you can 'cheat' somewhat by just moving the Chuzzles in any old direction and the law of averages means you're bound to score points.

Chuzzle Deluxe is a fun game with a bouncy soundtrack and a handful of fun playing modes. If you like match-three games, it's a decent offering.

Download Chuzzle Deluxe 1.0 in Softonic

Angry Birds Rio 1.6.1-Travel to Brazil in the latest Angry Birds adventure

http://angry-birds-rio.en.softonic.com/mac

Angry Birds Rio is a brand new adventure from the creator of one of the most popular mobile games of recent years.

Now its here on Mac with the same story is based on the motion picture, Angry Birds Rio. The original Angry Birds have been kidnapped (or should that be 'bird-napped'?) and dragged off to Rio de Janeiro. There are 60 levels in Angry Birds Rio, set across two different episodes. The developer tells us we can look forward to more new episodes being added throughout 2011.

One of the objects of Angry Birds Rio is to set the rare exotic birds free by catapulting the Angry Birds at the intricate structures and cages they've been imprisoned in. You will also be asked to squash chattering monkeys by flinging your birds at them, which is great fun.

Angry Birds Rio looks even better than the original game. The graphics are much more vibrant and have a certain cinematic feel to them. The squawking sound effects are excellent as well, although we missed the cute grunts of the famous green pigs.

In terms of gameplay, Angry Birds Rio hasn't really innovated on the first game. Sure, there are new twists, such as collectible fruit and some new achievements, but the basic concept of launching birds at constructions is the same.

But if you enjoy the format of Angry Birds, you should definitely install Angry Birds Rio.

Download Angry Birds Rio 1.6.1 in Softonic

Bridge Constructor Playground 1.1-Addictive and fun bridge building game

http://bridge-constructor-playground.en.softonic.com/mac

Bridge Constructor Playground is a fun puzzle game where the aim is to build bridges. There are 32 levels requiring you to build bridges over deep valleys, canals and rivers. They are then exposed to stress tests to see whether they can support the weight of the cars and trucks that drive across them.

Sequel to Bridge Constructor

Bridge Constructor Playground is the sequel to Bridge Constructor but this version is somewhat easier with an extensive tutorial. There is no fixed budget and almost no limitations on building materials, which really allows you to indulge in some crazy creations. As you progress you win badges, with five badges in all to collect, which becomes increasingly difficult as the loads increase.

Single and multiplayer modes

You can play Bridge Constructor Playground either on your own or against a friend. The early levels are easy enough but there are 32 rounds in all to complete. To keep things interesting, the settings change from City and Canyons to Beach, Mountains and Rolling Hills. Beyond this, you can even unlock hidden worlds and levels.

Use 4 different materials

You have four different building materials to work with: wood, steel, steel cable, and concrete piles which display their stress load tolerance so you know which ones to choose depending on the challenge. There are two different stress levels: car and truck and a high score award per level.

Basic graphics and sound but addictive gameplay

The graphics and sound in Bridge Constructor Playground are basic but this is forgiven because of the addictive gameplay which pushes you to the limit in finding a way of constructing durable bridges that can withstand any load. There seem to be problems sometimes when connecting bridges - sometimes it simply won't connect them - but on the whole its bug free.

Conclusion

Bridge Constructor Playground is a fun and challenging game which definitely gets addictive the more you play it.

Download Bridge Constructor Playground 1.1 in Softonic

Snood is a classic puzzle game that should keep you hooked.
In this game, your goal is to connect at least three Snoods together to free them.

However the difficulty is that the more Snoods you launch the higher the danger level rises. The game lasts for a while, offering a large number of levels, with ever more different shapes of connected Snoods.

It's a great way to relax and to test your reflexes.
The game also includes a level editor with which you can design your own game. This option is easy to use, however we don't really believe you'll need it considering the amount of levels the game has to offer.

One of the major drawbacks of the game is its high CPU usage. For some reason, the game seems to pump all the memory from your Mac, so we recommend shutting off other applications if you want to play it.

We also found mouse movements to be a little jerky and would like to see a new version some day with better graphics.
Snood is a very addictive game with lots of levels of endless fun.

Download Snood 3.0 in Softonic

Bejeweled 3 is PopCap Game's latest version of the massively popular puzzle game. With eight game modes, improved graphics and badges, it's the biggest Bejeweled game yet.

If you've played this gem-matching game before, you'll slip right back into Bejeweled 3. The gameplay is unchanged, but the graphics have been improved, for some impressive lightening effects and some fantastic level transitions.

Quest Mode offers 40 levels, each with a specific task to complete, like rescuing butterflies and mining diamonds. This is challenging, and keeps the the game interesting with its varied tasks. Zen mode is a configurable game, where you can add breathing exercise, ambient sounds and even weight loss mantras to Bejeweled 3! Lightning mode is the opposite: a fast paced timed game that is anything but relaxing. Lastly there is Classic mode, that plays as usual. Completing challenges in each of these allows you to unlock four more 'secret' modes to Bejeweled 3.

With all the game modes and great looking graphics and effects, Bejeweled 3 is the best and most complete version of the series so far. Whether it's 'new' enough for seasoned players depends if they are happy with playing more of the same classic puzzle action.

Download Bejeweled 3 in Softonic

Neverball 1.5.3-Tilt and guide the ball through a world of mazes

http://neverball.en.softonic.com/mac

I'm quite a big fan of any game that involves, balls, mazes and pinball machine style action which is why Neverball ticked all the right boxes for me.

Neverball sees you guide a ball through a series of complex grids and courses with the aim of either collecting as much cash as you can, beating a time limit or reaching a certain goals. You guide the ball by tilting the course which invariably, is a think track upon which, one false move either way sees you fall to your death!

You start by entering your name and then selecting which course, difficulty and type of challenge - coins, time or goal - that you want to attempt. However, it is a little confusing to work out exactly how to to start a game as there are so many options so my first few minutes were spent clicking wildly just to start the damned thing!

Once you get going, controlling the ball in Neverball is extremely tricky. You'll need the deft hand of Picasso to make sure your ball doesn't roll off the edge, hit a barrier or simply run out of control. You'll need several goes before you can even complete one course on the easy level so this is not a game just to waste a few minutes - it's one to absorb yourself in.

Gold Strike 1.0-Popular action/puzzle game

http://gold-strike.en.softonic.com/mac

In Gold Strike, you play the part of a miner who has struck gold and has to pick of bits of gold strategically to stop the mine collapsing.

There are several different modes such as Bottomless Pit, Archaeology, Strategy and Dynamite modes. Each presents a slightly different challenge although anyone that has played games such as Bejeweled will recognize the general game format in all of them.

Gold Strike is incredibly addictive which is why its such a popular game. It's suitable for all levels from kids to adults looking to kill some time. The aim each time is to beat your previous score and you can't help but come back for more, especially if you miss out by just a few nuggets of gold. Depending on the mode you choose, you may just face one endless grueling level, have to blow up parts of the mine to obtain gold or choose the more sedentary Archaeology mode where the aim is to find artifacts.

The graphics are cutely animated, you can pause games and also turn off the often annoying sound effects if you want although that's where the preferences end.

At the end of the day, its just block removal but Gold Strike will have you coming back for more.

Download Gold Strike 1.0 in Softonic

G.H.O.S.T. Hunters: The Haunting of Majesty Manor-A detective style mystery game

http://g-h-o-s-t-hunters-the-haunting-of-majesty-manor-mac.en.softonic.com/mac

G.H.O.S.T. Hunters is a mix between a detective style game and puzzle solving. As a private investigator hired by the G.H.O.S.T. Hunters company you need to find out who is playing tricks in the Majesty Manor. To do this you'll have to find numerous clues throughout the estate. As soon as you start the game you're taken directly into the story, and tasks given to you by G.H.O.S.T. Hunters get tougher as the story evolves. Essentially you'll be hunting for specific items in all the rooms of the mansion, which will allow you to eliminate suspects. There's a number of hints to help you out, but you can also be punished by way of time reductions for clicking randomly.

The story and the eerie atmosphere make this game enjoyable, and we liked how you can move around the different rooms, show as polaroids in your notebook, even if you haven't found all the clues. G.H.O.S.T. Hunters can get a bit repetitive after a while and we also noticed that the game had a tendency to lag every now and then.

G.H.O.S.T. Hunters is an enjoyable puzzle investigation game, perfect to get into the Halloween spirit.

Download <a title="G.H.O.S.T.
Botanicula 1.1-A new adventure from the makers of Machinarium

http://botanicula.en.softonic.com/mac

The team behind <taglink type="program" country="en" id="87908">Machinarium</taglink>, the award winning indie puzzler, are back with a new adventure called Botanicula. It's a point and click adventure which combines gentle puzzles with exploration and a raft of cute characters and inventive gameplay.

In Botanicula you follow five tree creatures as they attempt to save their tree from an infestation of evil parasites. Botanicula isn't a normal point and click adventure. While there is a story, the point of the game seems to be exploration and interaction.

It's a surprisingly big game, with lots to explore and quite a complex map. The tree is divided into screens, and on each screen you can interact with the flora and fauna in different ways, sometimes for fun and sometimes to solve puzzles. There are no long conversations to follow, just really pretty animations accompanied by a gorgeous soundtrack.

Botanicula manages to stay away from being simply an attractive ambient experiment with the consistently inventive animals, and the evil parasites, which reminded us a little of the much scarier <taglink type="program" country="en" id="324077">Limbo</taglink>. Botanicula has a casual feel to it, but you'll enjoy it even if you consider yourself a 'hardcore gamer'.

One of the most enjoyable and relaxing games you'll play this year, Botanicula is the kind of experience which really is suitable for all the family, without boring any of them!

Download Botanicula 1.1 in Softonic

Bookworm 2.0-Tough Scrabble-style word game

http://bookworm.en.softonic.com/mac

If you've got a way with words, then you'll probably enjoy Bookworm which challenges your word creation skills in a fun and engaging puzzle.

The aim is to link letter tiles left, right, up and down to build words and keep Lex the bookworm grinning while racking up your points total. It works in the same way as scrabble in that, the bigger the word, the better the bonus. However, you must watch out for burning letters which destroy your words and your game in an instant. If you can't find a word to incorporate the letter, the letter will destroy your entire board ending the game.

There are two modes to choose from - Action and Classic. As the name suggests, Action is frenetic and sees you linking letters in a race against the clock. In Classic mode, you've got more time to come up with long and impressive words to maximize your scoreline where your main enemies are burning letters.

From a gameplay perspective, Bookworm is excellent, although it is extremely hard. The most you can hope to form with such random formations of words are three or four letter words. I also like the fact that Lex tells you the meaning of the words with a dictionary definition as you score.

From a technical standpoint the game is annoying though. Firstly, there's no way to play in single-screen mode so Bookwork totally takes over your Mac. Secondly, when a letter burned and destroyed my game, the whole game froze and crashed. There was no option for me but to restart the Mac which is completely unacceptable.

It's a shame the technical aspects of Bookworm don't live up to the gameplay which is otherwise and extremely fun and taxing word game.

Download Bookworm 2.0 in Softonic

Zuma's Revenge! Demo-Another crazily addictive PopCap puzzle game!

http://zumas-revenge.en.softonic.com/mac

Zuma's Revenge is the addictive sequel to Zuma, the bubble bursting puzzler where you control a lost frog which has found itself up against angry island god Zuma.

The story is just decoration for the sometimes frantic puzzle action the makes up Zuma's Revenge. However, the humorous and irreverent text and dialogue really help make this a charming experience.

You control a frog at the center of the screen, firing colored balls at a chain of balls creeps along a path towards a statue's mouth. Your task is to stop them arriving. Balls are removed by the usual method of creating a chain of three or more of the same color. There are various power ups to keep things interesting, and lots of different path designs.

Every few levels there's a boss fight, which maintains the basic game mechanic, but adds another target to fire balls at while clearing the the endless stream of balls.

If you've never played a Zuma game, Zuma's Revenge will be great. The gameplay is simple but incredibly compelling. For people who've played it before, the graphics are fresher, and there are some nice tweaks in the gameplay to keep it interesting.

Addictive, attractive and humorous - unless you hate puzzle games, you'll find you can't stop playing Zuma's Revenge.

Download <a title="Zuma's Revenge!
Bubble Explode 1.2.4-Puzzle game with transparent background

http://bubble-explode.en.softonic.com/mac

Bubble Explode is a simple matching game with a simple twist - it's entirely transparent so you can see your Mac desktop.

Bubble Explode requires you to match and explode bubbles of the same color as they fall from the sky. It features slick animations, bonuses, global online scoreboards, original game modes amongst other things. You can create chain reaction bubble explosions for really spectacular screen clearances in three different modes: Classic, Chill Out and Bubble Invasion.

There are five animation speed settings: Slow Motion, Normal, Fast, Turbo, and Animations Off and if you have to exit in a hurry because the boss is looking over your shoulder, Bubble Explode saves games on exit. Bubble Explode is nothing original but it is quite addictive - its a great time waster although you'll probably spend longer than you anticipated playing it.

Bubble Explode is a simple transparent game for your desktop.

Download Bubble Explode 1.2.4 in Softonic
