http://picasa-mac.en.softonic.com/mac

Picasa for Mac is Google's answer to <taglink type="program" country="en" id="65253">iPhoto</taglink> and allows you to easily publish photos from your Mac to the web.

All the accolades that apply to the <taglink type="program" country="en" id="23941">Windows version of Picasa</taglink> apply to Picasa for Mac except of course, Picasa for Mac has all the polish and classy touches you'd expect from a Mac interface.

Once you open Picasa, it will perform a full scan of images on your Mac which it then loads into the viewer quickly and efficiently. All images are instantly organized in chronological order. Unlike iPhoto, Picasa for Mac does not create it's own compressed library file thus it saves disk space compared to iPhoto. However, it's obviously not as well integrated as iPhoto with other Apple apps.

Everything that's included in the Windows version is here including simple editing functions, slide shows, and online photo and video publishing as long as you have a Google account.

Slick, polished, quick, logical and easy to use, Picasa for Mac makes viewing and publishing photos and videos easy.

Download Picasa for Mac 3.9.1.535 in Softonic

iPhoto 9.2.3-Apple's software for viewing and managing your photos

http://iphoto.en.softonic.com/mac

iPhoto is Apple's flagship application for managing and viewing photos on your Mac.

The interface is very slick and iPhoto features tons of tools to help you manage your library. In fact, the real strength of the program resides in the organizing options such as organizing by events, create a gallery, print out calendars and books etc. In particular, the unified search function allows you to quickly find any photo based on all sorts of criteria like date, name or keywords and now, even faces.

One of my favorite features of iPhoto are the photo montages which allow you to select a style of presentation with accompanying music. These look great and are a nice way to view your photos and reminisce on the past. However, I dislike the way iPhoto has to build a library file of your photos. If you've already got several GB of photos on your system, you don't want another huge iPhoto file taking up space on your hard drive.

Of course, iPhoto is also very well integrated into other Apple apps such as iDVD so your iPhoto images can easily be used in videos that you're editing. Displaying photos in full screen mode isn't as simple as it should be however - it involved way too many clicks and its hard to get rid of the toolbar.

Overall, iPhoto is an extremely elegant photo application which makes viewing photos a pleasure.

Download iPhoto 9.2.3 in Softonic

InstaDesk is one of the closest things to an Instagram for Mac app along with <taglink type="program" country="en" id="322895">Carousel</taglink>.

InstaDesk provides a slick and simple way to view Instagram photos of others. Note that you can only download Instagram photos - you can't upload them due to Instagram policy. In addition, you can also comment on pictures, like them, download them, or watch them in slideshows.

InstaDesk is great for simply viewing your Friend Feed, following Popular Tags, Popular Pictures and commenting on them.
http://adobe-photoshop-cs2-flash-web-photo-gallery-templates.en.softonic.com/mac

If you're still working with Photoshop CS2 and you like creating your own web photo galleries you may know how easy it is to do this in Adobe's design application.

CS2 comes with two original flash web photo galleries that you can use as templates for creating your own. This package gives you these two original galleries and adds a new one to the pack. All templates come with their FLA source files which you can edit in Flash and an example gallery which gives you an idea of what you can expect.

The pack is fairly easy to install as all you need to do is drag the galleries into your Photoshop CS2 presets folder. To use them all you need to do is open up File>Automate in Photoshop CS2 and select the web gallery you want. Also make sure to set a source folder for images and a destination folder.

Worryingly, I did find that the galleries caused my version of Photoshop CS2 to crash rather frequently.

If you're still running Photoshop CS2, you might like to have an extra Flash web photo gallery to work with.

Download Adobe Photoshop CS2 Flash Web Photo Gallery templates 1.0 in Softonic

Slideshow Magic 5.0.5-Build professional-looking slideshows and presentations

http://slideshow-magic.en.softonic.com/mac

Slideshows are one of the best ways to add colour and life to a photo collection no matter what the subject matter.

Slideshow Magic is aimed at both home users and business professionals who want to impress friends or colleagues with their photo slideshow creations. Best of all, it doesn't require the viewer to have the program installed as all slideshows can be saved in any QuickTime compatible format.

The easy to use interface is somewhat like that of a video editor allowing you to add music or audio tracks either for the whole slideshow or just specific segments. You can add some impressive transitions and titles much in the same way as you do with Windows Movie Maker for example. The program also features a useful guide to help you get your photos online or burnt to DVD. However, unfortunately the program doesn't provide either it's own webspace or burner for uploading and saving photos. For uploading, you'll need an FTP client and web host and for burning, a third party burner such as Nero.

In addition, although it's a cross platform application, sharing with other platforms requires some form of network solution between clients (although this needn't be something complicated - a program like MSN Live Messenger is enough

Slideshow Magic is a relatively cheap but powerful way to get your photos either online or burnt to DVD.

Download Slideshow Magic 5.0.5 in Softonic

Google still hasn't released a version of Picasa for Mac. If you upload your photos to Google's Picasa Web Albums though, you'll need to have this uploader set up on your Mac.

The Picasa Web Albums Uploader looks very much like the Flickr Uploadr: you drag and drop photos on the left side of the window, then select an album, enter a caption and press upload.

The upload limit is around 1GB, which is the cap set on your Picasa Web Albums account, quite sufficient for most people.
The Uploader can also be used to upload pictures from iPhoto straight to your Picasa Web Albums account.

It's not obvious how to perform this, and you'll have to click File>Export then select the Picasa tab from the pop up menu to upload your photos.

Once again, if you have a Picasa Web Albums account, then this application is pretty much indispensable. Similarly, the program lets you set all sorts of keyboard shortcuts, ideal for such a straightforward application.
http://kodak-easyshare.en.softonic.com/mac

Kodak Easyshare is a digital photo organizer which gives you access to your Kodak Gallery and make use of Kodak's project and print services.

You'll find it offers what you expect of a digital photo organizer, such as being able to save your photos in albums and show them in calendar view, adding tags, easy transferring from your camera and sharing them with others via email or burning on a CD. You can also create a little slideshow to view albums in full screen.

I did find the application a little counterintuitive, partly due to the color of the interface, which makes it difficult to set buttons apart. A simple action like adding an album, wasn't as easy as it should be.

Although limited, the range of editing tools available was OK. You can enhance your picture, set the balance and add a few effects to make a little snazzier. Both the tips and online guide provided by Kodak are thorough.

You can use Kodak Easyshare without actually having a Kodak account, however you'll find many places in the application where it encourages you to do so. Your use of the application will also obviously be limited if you don't have one as you won't be able to print photos or create projects.

Kodak Easyshare is a digital photo manager that gives access to Kodak services online. First of all, it handles of all the major image formats, including PNG and JPEG, and even supports comic book specific formats such as CBZ and CBR.

The interface is simple enough so that you make the most of your comics. You can rotate sets any which way you want and even alternate reading order from right to left, highly useful if you want to read a manga for example.

Jomic includes a useful zoom tool, with which you'll be able to zoom in on any point of a comic, and enjoy details or examine drawings more closely.
You can also extract comics which you can particularly like and save them onto your Mac, however Jomic won't tell you where it extracts to.
XnView 1.70.1-Image viewer for over 400 formats based on X11

http://xnview.en.softonic.com/mac

Most image conversion and editing tools usually support all the major formats but there's always a few that slip through the net.

XnView supports an amazing 400 different formats, meaning you need look no further if you've been unable to open an image in a particular format. Before you start however, note that XnView is based on the X11 platform which is basically a version of the X Window System that makes it possible to run X11-based applications in Mac OS X. Although using an application in X11 feels like going back 10 years, it does have some advantages not least that it's completely open source and therefore free to use.

You can open just about any format so that's XnView's major advantage. Beyond that though, it's hard to recommend it as a photo editing and viewing application. It takes a few seconds to process each image before it displays them and even a simple JPEG seemed to display in a very discoloured way. There are several filters you can isolate certain colors but I just couldn't get over the antiquated X11 platform to really appreciate it.

If you really can't open your image in any other application, XnView may be able to help but that's about it.

Download XnView 1.70.1 in Softonic

http://facebook-exporter-for-iphoto.en.softonic.com/mac

The name says it all about Facebook Exporter for iPhoto. This application lets you work straight from your iPhoto library and decide which photos you'll share with your friends on your Facebook account.

All you need to do is select the photos you want to share and click on 'Export' in your iPhoto menu. In the Facebook Exporter window you'll first have to log in to your Facebook account, then select whether to create a new album or add the photos to an existing one.

What I liked in Facebook Exporter is that you can easily add captions to your pictures and tag friends. To do this just move the little square onto a person in the photo and type in their name.

Once your pictures are ready all it takes is to press the 'Export' button. You'll still have to open up your Facebook account though as the uploaded photos will only be set as pending, until you approve of them in your account. A good way of ensuring the right photos are uploading yet it makes the processing a little longer.

Facebook Exporter for iPhoto makes it easy to upload your favorite pictures onto your Facebook account.

Download Facebook Exporter for iPhoto 1.0.7 in Softonic

iPhoto Buddy 1.3.4-Divide and switch between multiple iPhoto libraries

http://iphoto-buddy.en.softonic.com/mac

Have you ever thought about splitting your iPhoto collections into a series of smaller ones? It might sound a bit pointless at first but by doing so, you could vastly improve the performance of iPhoto and make managing your photo collection considerably easier.

iPhoto Buddy allows you to do exactly this so that you can create, manage, and switch between multiple iPhoto Libraries with ease. For very large collections, you should notice a distinct improvement in the speed of iPhoto, increased flexibility in organizing your photos and a general overall improvement in how you're able to manage photos. However, it has to be noted that more recent versions of iPhoto have made many of the functions available in iPhoto Buddy redundant because simply by holding down the Option key when starting iPhoto, you can open collections in new libraries.

However, that's not to say that iPhoto Buddy has nothing more to offer. For instance, iPhoto Buddy displays several details about your Libraries without having to even launch iPhoto. This includes things such as the image count as well as the Albums, Smart Albums, Folders etc contained within them. The interface of iPhoto Buddy has clearly been inspired by iPhoto and is a pleasure to use throughout. The help manual is also highly detailed and covers just about any problem you might come across.

However, the improvements to be enjoyed from iPhoto Buddy will probably only be appreciated by those on slower Macs. I found little difference whether operating with one whole library or several different ones divided by iPhoto Buddy and indeed, found it even a little more confusing at times.

That said, there can be no doubt that for those on slower Macs or those that don't want to upgrade to newer versions of iPhoto, iPhoto Buddy will surely make managing your albums a lot quicker and easier.

Download iPhoto Buddy 1.3.4 in Softonic

http://jetphoto-studio.en.softonic.com/mac

Picasa and iPhoto have virtually made other photo management apps on the Mac redundant but if you look hard, you'll still find some nice alternatives.

JetPhoto Studio doesn't really compare with the big boys but it does offer a greater degree of control and processing power over your images in certain areas. JetPhoto Studio will import pictures from your camera as soon as you connect it. Alternatively, you can browse to albums on your Mac or allow JetPhotoStudio to perform a full scan of your system.

The main interface is well presented and allows you to browse photos by date. There is a set of basic editing tools which allows you to crop images and add a few effects such as sepia, black and white, image contrast, and auto enhancing. You can also batch resize your photos and protect them with a watermark. JetPhoto Studio also enables you to rate your own photos via a star system, as well as tag them. However, tags are not transferable from one album to another and you have to create a new one every new album you create.

One of the better aspects of JetPhoto Studio is the ability to create screensavers, wallpapers, slide-shows and Flash movies from your collections. Unfortunately, however, there ¡s very little control over the types of animations and speed of the transitions. Finally, it's worth adding that you send JetPhoto Studio images via SMS or infrared, to your friends’ mobiles, although this only works within the US. The developer has also recently added geo-tagging for GPS recognition in Google Earth. The best way to share your photos in online though and JetPhoto Studio makes this relatively easy via Flickr or the JetPhoto server.

Jet Photo Studio is a comprehensive photo management tool that's a bit bloated in areas but offers some interesting features.

Download JetPhoto Studio 5.2 in Softonic

Comical 0.8-Lightening quick CBR and CBZ comic book reader

http://comical.en.softonic.com/mac

If you're looking for a way to read comics on your Mac, Comical is a free, open source solution that does exactly that.

Despite only being only version 0.8, Comical is stable and effective. It is compatible with ZIP and RAR compressed files, and the more common CBR and CBZ comic book compressed formats. Once installed, Comical will ask to open a file, and double clicking your choice will open your comic in the resizable Comical window.

You can choose how Comical resizes your comic images as you resize the window - whether you want them to be stretched to fit, or keep their aspect ratio. You can also view in full screen, and toggle a contents panel on and off. While the contents panel is useful for finding your page, as there's no bookmark feature, reading is much more comfortable with it turned off.

There's a control bar, which allows you to rotate pages, and move between chapters and pages. This can also be reached with a right mouse click. The simplest way to flick through your comics is just using the space bar, which imitates page turning. Comical is quick to load pages and you won't notice loading at all when reading normally. The only things missing in Comical are a simple zoom feature, and a library. An iTunes style comic library would have really completed Comical.

Despite minor drawbacks, Comical is a stable, and more importantly fast comic book reader.

Download Comical 0.8 in Softonic

http://iscrapbook.en.softonic.com/mac

iScrapbook is a well built application that gives you all the tools to create your own scrapbook. After choosing your template, you can play around with the application and build your album. Thanks to the graphic/text/favorites side tabs all the essential elements are readily available to you. We also were impressed by the choice given to you in the graphics tab in terms of elements, shapes and clip art. You can also choose to quickly import all sorts of photos.

Text editing is very well handled by iScrapbook. First choose the sort of title you want, then double click on it to open up a hovering window with all the editing options like font, size or style.

Although iScrapbook only offers 9 template, you can still decide to create your own. Printing and exporting your creation is also a snap. iScrapbook is accessible and has enough features to make good looking scrapbooks.

Download iScrapbook 3.3.0 in Softonic
