Adobe's new cross-operating system runtime opens up much more possibilities to both developers and everyday computer users. Versions offers an attractive interface to work with Subversion.

Subversion (SVN) is a version control system that allows you to maintain historical versions of all your files. It is very widely used in the open source community and competes directly with the CVS format. The advantage of working with SVN is that it keeps track of all your changes and lets you find previous versions easily.

Versions is still in Beta, so it might be a little unstable, but you already see it's looking to be very promising. The application offers three sections: browse, timeline and transcript. You'll start by creating a new online repository in Beanstalk then adding new repository bookmarks. These are always displayed on the left side of the interface, so they're always immediately accessible. You can easily update or commit your changes and Versions lets you quickly compare differences, see local changes and includes a blame/annotate tool.

Versions makes working with Subversions easier than ever. The full release will be highly awaited by many a programmer.

Developers of Mac software, if you haven't got Sparkle already, then make sure you grab a copy of it. This free little framework allows you add add update functionalities to your applications.

Sparkle offers developers a lot of functionalities and is easy to work with. It uses appcasts to deliver the latest release notes and lets you notify users of updates in many ways. The Sparkle name and logo never actually appear in your application's update information and you won't need to add any sort of code or extra programming in your program to implement it. Sparkle will also display detailed progress of an update to the user. The program is both 32 and 64 bit compatible

This latest version notably includes dual-mode garbage collection and can install .pkg files for more complicated applications. Sparkle is not limited to applications as it can also work with plugins, preference panes, bundles and any other sort of file that requires updates.

If there's one thing missing from it, it's a help guide for new users. The test app, framework and extras come unbundled so it would have been nice to have a little tutorial for simple setup. On the whole though, Sparkle is very easy to use and most developers will have no trouble with it.

A good html editor is essential if you want to get some coding done or work on a website. Taco HTML Edit lets you edit both HTML and PHP in a simple and tabbed interface.

Taco lets you quickly insert specific characters and create clips of code. You can also add any link, image, list or table. The tree view on the left always gives you an idea of which document you are working on. The difference between Preview and Live Preview isn't clear at first, but actually the first one will open up your default browser while the second will show the result in a pane at the bottom half of the interface.

I enjoyed working with tabs and the Batch find tool to look for specific code. The code completion tool is also really handy, helping you out.

I did find Taco HTML Edit somewhat sluggish at times, especially when working with multiple times.

Although it can be a little slow, Taco HTML Edit is a good html and php editor with some useful tools and a good multi-pane interface.
