Dress Assistant is made for wannabe designers or those that want to experiment from the comfort of their computer. Dress Assistant allows you to try-out different combinations of clothes via drag and drop until you've found a combination of clothes that makes you look good.

Annoyingly, when you start Dress Assistant you have to change the resolution to 1200 x 740 so you might have to access your control panel even before you start. The interface is pretty basic too - its clearly in need of a revamp and looks very dated but it is fairly clear. Your clothes are listed along the left hand side and the design window is on the right.

You can categorize clothes by closet, season, preference and color, create and save combinations, and also print them. It even accepts local weather info, suggesting that Dress Assistant is designed for those that really have no dress sense at all. If you want to show off your designing skills, you can use the built-in editor to design your own and even show them off on the Dress Assistant forum to make like-minded connections with other designers - or just get laughed at.

Dragging and dropping of clothes is not as smooth as it should be though and presentation is generally a bit poor meaning you can't help feeling that Dress Assistant is a rather amateur effort at a clothes design application.

Edison is a small tool that features different customizable power schemes with which you can save energy by automatically switching off the monitor, the hard drive and the whole computer after a certain period of time. You can specify the time limit for each one of these elements and also create different schemes, one for your working hours and one to be used when you're not using the PC.

In a way Edison is similar to the default Windows power-saving options you can find in the Display Properties menu, though it's easier to use and offers more possibilities for customization. In fact, the program does change Windows power settings when you run it, so even if your close Edison your PC will switch off if you scheduled it for power off at a given time – which I found annoying, chiefly because Edison didn't warn me about it.

Another negative point about the program is that it requires you to create a free user account on the developer's page. Man, I'm just trying to save some money and energy here, what do you need my name and email address for?

Sending personalized cards through the mail can be expensive and time consuming. Personal eCards helps create and send personalized cards for a number of different occasions. You can import your own photos, choose a design, and edit text for your custom cards. After you're done you can save, email or share your creation on Facebook and Twitter.

The interface of Personal eCards is very snappy and allows drag and drop importing of photos. There aren't many options, however, and the card design selection is very limited. The designs that are available, meanwhile, are decent but bland. There are no options to adjust anything other than your picture and text, which is a bummer. It would have been nice to at least rotate a photo for some fun angles.

Overall, Personal eCards is a very basic card creation program but it works well. We just wish there were more personalization options and card designs.
