Jumpcut 0.63-Extend the power of your clipboard

http://jumpcut.en.softonic.com/mac

One thing that constantly frustrates me in OS X is the clipboard. Its absurd that you are limited to just one item to copy and paste at a time.

You should be able to go back through your history of pasted text so that if you accidentally overwrite some copied text you can still access it. That's exactly what Jumpcut does in the easiest and most accessible way possible. Jumpcut remembers every little bit of text you copy or cut during a day giving you easy access to your clipboard's history via your Menu bar. Whatever you copy, Jumpcut compiles line by line all of the text you've cut or copies during the day. If you need to paste the text, just select it and it pastes instantly.

The app is represented by an easy-to-spot scissors icon in your Menu bar or you can configure a hotkey instead which is supposed to bring-up a bezel displaying a list of the most recent items you worked with. However, I couldn't work out how to record a hotkey. You're supposed to just click the hotkey symbol and record but recording wouldn't work for me.

However, this takes little away from what is a simple and well designed utility that could prove essential for those who do a lot of cutting, copying and pasting all day.

Download Jumpcut 0.63 in Softonic

CopyPaste Pro 3.3-Multiple clipboard utility

http://copypaste.en.softonic.com/mac

CopyPaste Pro is a powerful clipboard utility for Mac with lots of useful tools to save snippets of text. It also features a unique clip browser interface.

CopyPaste Pro offers much more tools than your basic clipboard tool. To copy text you just have to press CMD+C and type a number for that selection. CMD+V will paste the selction. CopyPaste Pro is accessible from a drop down in the menu bar. You not only have access to clip history, but also to many advanced clip tools. CopyPaste Pro lets you remove quote levels, wrap words and add different date styles among others. Thanks to hovering mini icon, the application is also always accessible.

The clip browser view looks cool, but I didn't find it very intuitive. If you have a lot of elements copied it was a little difficult to browse through them. It also features to sides to the panel, but there is no explaining which element goes on which.

Despite mixed feeling over the clip browser view, I find CopyPaste Pro to be a very powerful clipboard utility with many tools.

Download CopyPaste Pro 3.3 in Softonic

Dropzone 0.27-A smarter way to transfer and move your files

http://dropzone.en.softonic.com/mac

I'm constantly making transfers between OS X and Windows in Parallels but it's really annoying having to browse to the right folders all the time.

That's why I've been really impressed by Dropzone, which allows you to set up handy shortcuts for all your main transfer needs. All you need to do is set up a shortcut folder, to which you can drag and drop folders. Say, for example, I want my downloads in OS X to be transferred to my downloads folder in Windows. I select the target and the destination and then every time I make the transfer, I just drag the file to the Dropzone icon, and select the shortcut.

Dropzone works not only for hard drive transfers but also FTP and Flickr account transfers. I'd like to see this extended to YouTube and Picasa, but at least it's a start. There are also a few other handy features such as an auto installer - just drag and drop DMG files into Dropzone and it will do the unpacking, installing and ejecting of the image for you. Finally, there's a little snippet saver which allows you to drag and drop text onto the Dropzone clipboard - complete with the URL it came from - for reading later.

The sky is really the limit with Dropzone - if you've got some API knoweldge, you can even extend it further with your own features.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the improvements in productivity and organization Dropzone offers. This should be a default feature in OS X.

Download Dropzone 0.27 in Softonic

http://iclipboard.en.softonic.com/mac

iClipboard is a copy and paste manager specifically built for Mac.

During our tests, the application repeatedly crashed so we could not evaluate it properly, however we can give you a bit of information on its features. iClipboard offers a sleek interface, truly built for Leopard and enjoyable to the eye. You can preview items and even add notes to them.

Usability seems to be one of the main worries of the developer, and you can effectively copy, paste, turn the clipboard on/off or clear the history in one click. We liked the idea of setting limits in quantity and date to the clipboard as this ensures you have a manageable amount of clips to work with. To organize your elements, iClipboard structures them in projects, which you create. You'll also be able to set the sounds the application makes when cutting and pasting elements.

It's a shame that iClipboard didn't work properly as the application really looks promising. We hope the issues will be fixed soon.

A promising copy and paste application for Leopard, iClipboard still remains very unstable.

Download iClipboard 3.0.6 in Softonic

http://supernotecard.en.softonic.com/mac

Using flashcards and notecards is a great way for creative writers to map out their thoughts and ideas. SuperNotecard (formerly known as Miss Lonelynotes) is a tool for helping you do so in an organised fashion.

It's a tried an tested method used by novelists, biographers, researchers, and just about anyone in the writing field. SuperNotecard's virtual cards are supposed to help you focus on the basic parts of the composition while keeping the structure flexible so that it can change in accordance with your plot.

SuperNotecard uses a color-coding system depending on whether you're referring to plots, categories, characters or references. You can move them around with ease, zoom in and out and is generally a great way of seeing your thoughts and ideas before you get down to the nuts and bolts of writing. It would have been nice to have seen multimedia links embedded into the cards for cross referencing although sometimes, when trying to be creative, it's often a good idea to avoid the net completely so this may not be such a bad thing.

Overall, SuperNotecard is a super tool for any writer that wants to map out their ideas and experiment with plots before writing.

Download SuperNotecard 3.2 in Softonic

http://ipaste.en.softonic.com/mac

iPaste works by organizing any copied material in clip sets. Thanks to the + and - buttons at the bottom of the interface, you create clip sets for virtually anything, and quickly add or remove clips.

iPaste lets you copy any sort of file, like text, images, media or PDF. Accessing hotkey targets from the drop down menu brings all your clippings to the front of your screen.

iPaste gives you two viewing options: from the menu bar and from the Dock. While the first one is more discreet it also feels more limited.

We felt best to keep the application in the Dock to copy and view new items. Another advantage is the little sliding bar, which lets you zoom in onto clipped items.

The main feature which truly makes iPaste a time saving application are the hotkeys. Using the CTRL + Option + Number combination, iPaste lets you copy and paste quickly.

Another handy little function is being able to go back in time and check what items you've clipped in iPaste.
All in all, iPaste will make copying and pasting much more easier for you.

Download iPaste 1.1.2 in Softonic

Clipboard Evolved 2.39-Clipboard manager for Mac

http://clipboard-evolved.en.softonic.com/mac

Where do all the items you copy and cut go to? The clipboard of course! Well unlike Windows PCs, Macs don't really have a default clipboard as such. That's why most people end up installing a clipboard app like Clipboard Evolved.

Clipboard Evolved (formerly known as Dipboard) features a clipboard-like window for managing clips, a menu bar icon, and a cover-flow interface for quickly pasting clips. Clipboard Evolved is designed to be discreet but easy to access if you should ever need it. When you install Clipboard Evolved, you can access it via the clipboard icon in your menu bar.

When you click the icon, a clipboard will appear with a number of spare slots available for you to insert pasted text and images. It seems, though, that the only way you can copy items to it is to drag them into the clipboard icon - it won't work via right-click or Cmd-click "Copy". I found this pretty annoying but if you don't mind dragging items to the clipboard then it won't bother you too much.

As your items mount-up, you can view them in a drop-down menu by simply clicking on the clipboard. Clicking 'Quick Paste' brings up a cover flow style windows that displays your cuttings but pasting with it is not exactly intuitive. There's no indication of how to paste once you've revealed the items.

I quickly lost patience with Clipboard Evolved. Since it's not accessible from the Cmd-click context menu and makes pasting very difficult, it defeats the whole aim of the program.

Download Clipboard Evolved 2.39 in Softonic

jfSnip lets busy writers create shortcut snippets for text clippings. These are useful when you know there are certain phrases you will end up repeating and do not want to type them over again.

The application install in your menu bar, from where you have access to not only your folders with the different clippings, but also to your clipping history.

If you press 'Manage snippets', jfSnip will open up a new window, from which you can create new folders and snippets. Just copy and paste in your text clipping, add a good snippet name, and you're ready to go.

In my opinion, jfSnip lacks keystroke shortcuts.
