MyFreeWeather allows you to view the sky in any city in the world and track local weather. You can track a moving storm & weather patterns via satellite & radar although this can be painfully slow at updating. Naturally, you can also view daily and detailed forecasts, local time and date for any location worldwide, plus alerts for severe weather. To search, just enter the city and country and the program does the rest.

It's certainly a comprehensive weather tool - apart from all the aforementioned features, it also shows other information such as wind speed and direction, humidity and visibility, as well as a five-day forecast graphic with the maximum and minimum temperature. It would have been much better if the program was based on webcams pointing at the sky in each country because in reality, what you are seeing is a computer generated impression of what it should look like based on weather readings.

However, this is an attractive and detailed weather forecasts and tracker that provides all the info you'll need about any major location worldwide.

The Weather Channel Desktop is a tool that will help you keep up to date with the weather conditions in two locations of your choice. It supports international locations, and temperatures are available in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

The interface itself is a little cluttered, even when you deactivate ads, and is not very customizable. There are lots of integrated tools, such as allergy advice and severe weather warnings, but some are unavailable outside the US. The weather information itself is pretty comprehensive, with options such as hour-by-hour, weekend and 10-day forecasts. Of course, ambient temperature, air pressure, humidity and wind direction are all included. There is also a range of animated maps showing cloud cover and precipitation.

The Weather Channel Desktop minimizes to the taskbar, displaying just the current temperature. You can then open it by double-clicking, or right-clicking to navigate the menus. Support for The Weather Channel Desktop is available online.

The Weather Channel Desktop will make sure you stay on top of your local, or not so local, weather. It has lots of tools to play with, especially if you are interested in US locations, and will keep meteorologically-orientated gadget fans entertained for a few hours.

Weather Watcher Live is a Windows desktop weather station automatically retrieves the current conditions, hourly forecast, daily forecast, detailed forecast, severe weather alerts, and weather maps for over 77,000 cities world-wide. It's configured by default for US users but it doesn't take long to configure it for your own city and location.

The current conditions can be quickly viewed on Weather Watcher Live by holding your mouse pointer over the Weather Watcher system tray icon. At that moment, Weather Watcher Live will allow you to automatically retrieve your weather data at a set interval, display the current temperature in a customized tray icon and display the current conditions image in a tray icon.

You can also designate which weather information is displayed in the Weather Watcher Live system tray tooltip, convert the weather data using almost any conversion, display a weather map as your desktop wallpaper, log the weather data in any format, export the weather data in any format, customize the look of the Weather Watcher Live interface and icons via skins, and much more. However, is it accurate? Well for my city, Weather Watcher Live's forecasts weren't spot on although neither are the local weather predictions so the program can be forgiven for that but it's easy to use and read and beats trying to catch the weather forecasts on TV all the time.

This nice application displays the current weather in your location (just one single city at a time) in a widget-style window that stays on your Desktop. This window supports transparency effect and can be customized with skins and icon sets. Plus, the weather conditions are updated according to the lapse of time set in preferences.

Still, the best feature in Meteo Fusion is the weather forecast tool included in the program, which enables you to check general conditions, maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation probability and other details for the next ten days.

Chances are that wherever you are going, WeatherEye has it covered with over 5,000 city destinations included in its database. Results are collated from the Weather Network and all conditions are displayed in real time. The WeatherEye widget provides short and long term weather forecasts, severe weather warnings and alerts and updated hourly forecasts.

WeatherEye shows forecasts of up to 5 days by default and 10 days by clicking the Long Term Forecast link. This will take you to an online report. If you want to keep an eye on more than one city at a time, you can do that too under options. WeatherEye doesn't have many configuration settings, but it does allow you to specify what cities you want to see, what measurements you use and whether or not to use a proxy server.

If you want a slick and easy-to-use weather widget that covers a huge number of destinations, WeatherEye is a good choice.

So, where do I get all this information from? Easy: download Weather Spy and you'll have your own personal weather forecast right on the Windows desktop. You'll be able to check weather conditions in thousands of locations worldwide, including temperature, rain probability and wind speed. The program also features satellite imagery with which you can see clouds over the US or Europe, as well as check temperatures and precipitation probabilities. Only one location can be checked at a time, though.

Weather Spy includes a fairly complete configuration menu where you can choose measurement units, apply a transparency effect to the program's window and tweak other settings. It would have been great to have some interface skins too, as the wooden appearance doesn't really fit the program.

If you need to check weather conditions in a certain location anywhere in the world, Weather Spy is the tool you're looking for.

Instead of displaying data as a desktop notification, YoWindow features a colorful, fully-animated window that displays a nice landscape and changes according to actual weather conditions.

Besides having a very original interface, YoWindow is also quite informative. It displays the current weather situation (sunny, cloudy, rainy and so on) plus temperature (both real and the one it actually feels like), wind, pressure, and humidity. All these conditions are reflected in an customizable animated background – which you can replace with your own photos as well.

YoWindow includes the weather forecast for the next three days. You can click on each day to access the information right away, or move the timeline on top to check how weather conditions change as hours go by – and also see beautiful sunsets and dawns. The program can be set as your default screensaver as well.

Generally speaking, YoWindow is a surprisingly nice weather forecast tool, though I missed having more landscape designs to use as background. Another annoying detail was not to be able to scroll down the list of countries and cities with your mousewheel when choosing a location.

The globe is fully animated, meaning you can zoom in and out and also rotate and flip it with your mouse. The zoom tool though is not very powerful and doesn't allow you to go much into detail.

On the downside, the program asked me to register when I tried to create customized waypoints, something I found especially disappointing after seeing the program labeled as freeware all the time.
