My Free Weather 2.33-Find out the weather forecast anywhere in the world

http://my-free-weather.en.softonic.com

If you're planning to travel or just want the latest information on weather conditions in your local area, you'll need a decent weather tracker.

MyFreeWeather allows you to view the sky in any city in the world and track local weather. You can track a moving storm & weather patterns via satellite & radar although this can be painfully slow at updating. Naturally, you can also view daily and detailed forecasts, local time and date for any location worldwide, plus alerts for severe weather. To search, just enter the city and country and the program does the rest.

It's certainly a comprehensive weather tool - apart from all the aforementioned features, it also shows other information such as wind speed and direction, humidity and visibility, as well as a five-day forecast graphic with the maximum and minimum temperature. It would have been much better if the program was based on webcams pointing at the sky in each country because in reality, what you are seeing is a computer generated impression of what it should look like based on weather readings.

However, this is an attractive and detailed weather forecasts and tracker that provides all the info you'll need about any major location worldwide.

Download My Free Weather 2.33 in Softonic

The Weather Channel Desktop 6.00.16-All your weather information right on the desktop

http://the-weather-channel-desktop.en.softonic.com

Some people demand a little more from their desktop. If you're one of them, then take a peek at The Weather Channel Desktop.

The Weather Channel Desktop is a tool that will help you keep up to date with the weather conditions in two locations of your choice. It supports international locations, and temperatures are available in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

The interface itself is a little cluttered, even when you deactivate ads, and is not very customizable. There are lots of integrated tools, such as allergy advice and severe weather warnings, but some are unavailable outside the US. The weather information itself is pretty comprehensive, with options such as hour-by-hour, weekend and 10-day forecasts. Of course, ambient temperature, air pressure, humidity and wind direction are all included. There is also a range of animated maps showing cloud cover and precipitation.

The Weather Channel Desktop minimizes to the taskbar, displaying just the current temperature. You can then open it by double-clicking, or right-clicking to navigate the menus. Support for The Weather Channel Desktop is available online.

The Weather Channel Desktop will make sure you stay on top of your local, or not so local, weather. It has lots of tools to play with, especially if you are interested in US locations, and will keep meteorologically-orientated gadget fans entertained for a few hours.

The Weather Channel Desktop combines practicality and fun in a fairly complete weather tool.

Download The Weather Channel Desktop 6.00.16 in Softonic

Weather Watcher Live 7.1.63-Keep up with the latest weather reports

http://weather-watcher-live.en.softonic.com

If you're obsessed by the weather or just need to be sure that you're always kept on top of the latest weather patters, Weather Watcher Live is one of the most updated applications you'll ever use.

Weather Watcher Live is a Windows desktop weather station automatically retrieves the current conditions, hourly forecast, daily forecast, detailed forecast, severe weather alerts, and weather maps for over 77,000 cities world-wide. It's configured by default for US users but it doesn't take long to configure it for your own city and location.

The current conditions can be quickly viewed on Weather Watcher Live by holding your mouse pointer over the Weather Watcher system tray icon. At that moment, Weather Watcher Live will allow you to automatically retrieve your weather data at a set interval, display the current temperature in a customized tray icon and display the current conditions image in a tray icon.

You can also designate which weather information is displayed in the Weather Watcher Live system tray tooltip, convert the weather data using almost any conversion, display a weather map as your desktop wallpaper, log the weather data in any format, export the weather data in any format, customize the look of the Weather Watcher Live interface and icons via skins, and much more. However, is it accurate? Well for my city, Weather Watcher Live's forecasts weren't spot on although neither are the local weather predictions so the program can be forgiven for that but it's easy to use and read and beats trying to catch the weather forecasts on TV all the time.

For fast updates and attractive, easy to read forecasts, Windows Watcher Live is a great 24 hour tool.

Download Weather Watcher Live 7.1.63 in Softonic

http://weathereye.en.softonic.com

If you're a frequent traveler then one of the most important things you'll need to check before you travel is the weather.

Chances are that wherever you are going, WeatherEye has it covered with over 5,000 city destinations included in its database. Results are collated from the Weather Network and all conditions are displayed in real time. The WeatherEye widget provides short and long term weather forecasts, severe weather warnings and alerts and updated hourly forecasts.

WeatherEye shows forecasts of up to 5 days by default and 10 days by clicking the Long Term Forecast link. This will take you to an online report. If you want to keep an eye on more than one city at a time, you can do that too under options. WeatherEye doesn't have many configuration settings, but it does allow you to specify what cities you want to see, what measurements you use and whether or not to use a proxy server.

If you want a slick and easy-to-use weather widget that covers a huge number of destinations, WeatherEye is a good choice.

Download WeatherEye 4.0 in Softonic

http://weather-spy.en.softonic.com

They must be freezing in the Chicago area right now. With current temperatures below -20º F – and even lower in the next few days - I wouldn't dare set a foot outside home!

So, where do I get all this information from? Easy: download Weather Spy and you'll have your own personal weather forecast right on the Windows desktop. You'll be able to check weather conditions in thousands of locations worldwide, including temperature, rain probability and wind speed. The program also features satellite imagery with which you can see clouds over the US or Europe, as well as check temperatures and precipitation probabilities. Only one location can be checked at a time, though.

Weather Spy includes a fairly complete configuration menu where you can choose measurement units, apply a transparency effect to the program's window and tweak other settings. It would have been great to have some interface skins too, as the wooden appearance doesn't really fit the program.

If you need to check weather conditions in a certain location anywhere in the world, Weather Spy is the tool you're looking for.

Download Weather Spy 2.0 in Softonic

YoWindow is a weather forecast app that stands out from the crowd.

Instead of displaying data as a desktop notification, YoWindow features a colorful, fully-animated window that displays a nice landscape and changes according to actual weather conditions.

Besides having a very original interface, YoWindow is also quite informative. It displays the current weather situation (sunny, cloudy, rainy and so on) plus temperature (both real and the one it actually feels like), wind, pressure, and humidity. All these conditions are reflected in an customizable animated background – which you can replace with your own photos as well.

YoWindow includes the weather forecast for the next three days. You can click on each day to access the information right away, or move the timeline on top to check how weather conditions change as hours go by – and also see beautiful sunsets and dawns. The program can be set as your default screensaver as well.

Generally speaking, YoWindow is a surprisingly nice weather forecast tool, though I missed having more landscape designs to use as background. Another annoying detail was not to be able to scroll down the list of countries and cities with your mousewheel when choosing a location.

YoWindow is an original, colorful app for checking the weather forecast on your computer.

Download YoWindow 3S in Softonic

Global Weather 3D is probably one of the most visually appealing weather forecast tools you've ever seen.
Instead of displaying the usual geographic map with weather symbols, the program makes use of an attractive three-dimensional Earth globe to show the current position of clouds on our planet, plus marking their density with a color code.

The globe is fully animated, meaning you can zoom in and out and also rotate and flip it with your mouse. The zoom tool though is not very powerful and doesn't allow you to go much into detail.

Global Weather 3D features a quite complete configuration menu which enables you to enable certain tools such as displaying geographical textures, showing day and night zones or adding countries' names and boundaries, among other options.

On the downside, the program asked me to register when I tried to create customized waypoints, something I found especially disappointing after seeing the program labeled as freeware all the time.

With Global Weather 3D you can check weather conditions – or at least, cloud position – anywhere on Earth via an attractive interface.

Download Global Weather 3D 1.5 in Softonic

WeatherMate 3.3.4-Check weather conditions in more than 50.000 cities

http://weathermate.en.softonic.com

It's useful to have the weather forecasts always available in a desktop application. WeatherMate is simple but effective and lets you choose different cities for which you would like to know the weather forecasts. They can all be present at the same time in different tabs, and an icon with a short description will tell you whether the next day it will be better to have an umbrella or not.

The program uses the information provided by The Weather Channel, which has been monitoring the World's weather since 1982. In the option menu, you can choose to display a radar image of the places you have selected and to have a detailed description of the current conditions. Switch between Fahrenheit or Celsius or select the 'speak the weather' tool to have the near-term forecast read by a voice of which you can select volume, pitch and speed. The design is sufficiently clear, although no effort has been made to render the application particularly pleasant.

With WeatherMate you can monitor the weather of cities of your interest and get predictions for the coming days, up to a week. It's not possible to have information about the pollution level and the UV index though, which would have been very useful information.

Download WeatherMate 3.3.4 in Softonic

Well, it's one of the most accurate I've used and also one of the most detailed - you get everything right down to the latest windspeed in some cases.

The heart of WeatherMan is the desktop window from where you can access all of WeatherMan's forecast data including current conditions, tomorrow's forecasts, and both boat & beach forecasts.

It also includes quick access to radar and forecasts maps provided by The Weather Channel. Several detailed forecast are available in their own window or you can choose the single window view option.

These include hourly forecasts, daily details, text details, extended and regional forecasts.
One particularly interesting feature is the option to view the Doppler radar of any selected location at any time which can give advanced warning of any unexpected weather conditions.

Unusual for a weather forecaster, you can also customise the interface with a choice of colours and images to be used in the windows.
In summary, this is one of the most complete weather forecasters you'll find anywhere although the default setup is for the USA so if you're in Europe, you'll have to customise it more than you might like.

Download WeatherMan 1.0.12 in Softonic

EZ Open 2.0-Weather from a multitude of sources

http://ez-open.en.softonic.com

EZ Open is a weather application, that brings together 10 weather sources and a calendar in a browser like application. It is designed for people who like to check lots of sources for weather forecasts, but don't want to open all those web pages manually.

EZ Open brings together MSN and Yahoo Weather, The Weather Channel and 7 more web sources, one which is US only. The interface is simply a window with a row of 11 tabs in it - 10 weather sites and one calendar. The Weather sites are simply online pages as you would see in your browser. The calendar shows you the date, but isn't interactive - that's a shame as it would have been cool if EZ Open automatically searched for forecasts for whatever day you picked on the calendar!

As it stands, the calendar is pretty useless by PC and web calender standards. Also, if you're not based in the US, you'll need to change all the temperature settings to Celsius in each site. While collating weather from different sources may be a good idea, in EZ Open, it's badly implemented. You could set your browser to open these sources on start up, and it would be more flexible too. There are no options on EZ Open, so you can't set new weather sources or remove ones you don't like.

EZ Open isn't a terrible idea, but as all it does is bring together web sites, that you could very easily open in a browser, it's difficult to recommend.

Download EZ Open 2.0 in Softonic
