With only three colors to choose from (blue, silver and olive green) it's easy to get bored of the standard Windows XP visual theme. Luckily you can now give it a sleek dark appearance with XPize Darkside.

DarkSide is an action packed shoot-em-up based in deep space where you have to blow apart asteroids and enemy ships.

Darkside includes multiple game modes with several different missions although all involve simply blowing the hell out of anything that moves. The plot is thus - for 200 years we have been mining our solar system's asteroid belt in peace but all that changed the day the Krainian Empire invaded the outer territories.

You take control of the ArkLight X-52 and fly around collecting powerups and taking on 3 different game modes. One is Mission Mode where you have 100 different variations on saving the universe. Arcade mode is just going around blowing things up in true arcade style and survival mode is exactly that - you have one life to stay alive meaning the slightest hit from an asteroid ends your game.

There's nothing special about DarkSide that makes it stand out from the crowd but it does offer some excellent graphics and action packed explosions.
