PDFs are the best way to distribute documents on the Net, particularly if you've scanned one. It's much better than sending a generic JPEG scan.

PDF Studio is easy to use, yet powerful enough to allow you a whole host of editing options that enable you to annotate and edit documents. The first thing we noticed about Google Chrome is that it's unbelievably lightweight. While Firefox was consuming anything from an average of 20-30% of a Mac's CPU, Chrome barely registered on the scale, occasionally touching 1%. For anyone plagued with Firefox memory leaks and crashes, this alone is surely going to be a compelling reason to give Chrome a go.

As you'd expect, Google Chrome also features tabbed browsing, which visually, is more attractive than Firefox which tends to cram them together somewhat. Extensions and bookmarking (including syncing across machines) are included, as is Adobe Flash.

Chrome for Mac only works on Intel Macs and you might find that some add-ons that you used with previous browsers aren't available for it yet. This is rapidly changing however and most popular add-ons are now available on Chrome.

Perhaps most importantly, Google Chrome is extremely quick. Surfing the Softonic site, page-loads took less then a second and all images were loaded very quickly. YouTube in particular loaded with lightening speed.

Overall, the handling of sites using JavaScript in particular is mightily impressive and this has been made even better with the implementation of a V8 Crankshaft. Its also nice to know that with Google Chrome, even if there is a problem with one of your tabs, that it won't crash the whole browser - just the tab itself. However, sandboxing of Flash still isn't available in the Mac version, even though it is on Windows.

The final version ensures that you'll be able to synchronize not only bookmarks across multiple computers, but also browser preferences - including themes, homepage and startup settings, web content settings, preferred languages, and even page zoom settings. Meanwhile, you can also enable each extension to work in incognito mode through the extensions manager.

With thousands of extensions, super fast browsing and all the intelligence and slickness you expect from a Google product, Chrome delivers an excellent browsing experience.

iWatermark Pro features a revamped interface that makes it easy to add a watermark to your images within minutes. iWatermark Pro distinguishes itself, however, because it's designed specifically for photographers, although the developer stresses that it is not trying to be Adobe Photoshop.

The main interface is very easy to use. Just browse to the image you want to watermark, select the watermark type, select and output folder and finally, start processing. At the second stage, you can create your own personalized watermark with the Watermark Editor. The editor will preview your photo and watermark and from then on, you'll be able to select the watermark from a drop down list.

There are many tabs across the top for other functions namely Filtering, Resizing, Renaming, Thumbnails, EXIF/IPTC/XMP and Advanced settings. The amount of control that iWatermark Pro gives you over watermarking is amazing and the developer has left very little out in the way of customization.

Playback integrates with major media applications such as iTunes, iPhoto, Aperture, Adobe Lightroom, Photobooth, EyeTV, and more, meaning all you have to do is select what you want to share. Playback also allows you to control the amount of data being transferred to your devices via a handy bandwidth throttle that ensures you can surf and transfer data at the same time comfortably.

Playback also prides itself on being particularly fast due to the nginx server. Nginx delivers high performance transfer rates, stability and simple configuration which is why its favored by sites such as WordPress, Hulu and SourceForge. Adobe Flash is an essential component for watching video and playing multimedia games on the web.

Adobe Carousel gives you access to your entire photo collection from your iPad, iPhone or Mac. Adobe Carousel also allows you to enhance them using the same technology as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. However, to use Adobe Carousel you'll need either a monthly or annual subscription. You can import as many photos as you want for an introductory price of $59.99 a year or $5.99 a month, although this offer expires January 31, 2012. For those that are planning on using iCloud for their Apple sharing needs, this will be a real deterrent.

The photo enhancement tool is somewhat limited compared to Adobe Lightroom but is useful for just simple effects. Most importantly, you can fix exposure, white balance, and saturation. A slider enables you to change contrast, brightness, vibrancy etc. Changes are non-destructive, i.e. they don't affect the original photos. Finally, you can create libraries which friends and family can access via an Adobe Carousel app for iOS via which they can also add photos to albums.

One other factor to bear in mind is that Adobe Carousel is very limited in the formats it supports. At the moment, only JPG images can be uploaded to it.

Adobe Carousel is very polished app and if you're not using iCloud and just want to share photos, then it may be worth a try.

iPhoto offers fairly basic photo editing options but to really impress with your images, you can´t do much better than Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Adobe Photoshop Elements integrates seamlessly with Adobe Bridge CS5 software and provides instant organization of your images. Most importantly, it also includes a custom viewing workspace and full-screen previews and locating images is made easier thanks to tagging options.

Previously, Adobe Photoshop Elements lacks some of the more advanced features available in Windows but version 10 means that it now includes all of the intelligent photo-editing options as found the Windows version. Particular features worth noting are Photomerge Exposure, Recompose and Quick Fix previews and an excellent Scene Cleaner for brushing away unwanted elements from images. The Scene Cleaner also allows you to touch-up photos such as whitening teeth or intensifying colors to give your images a true professional touch.

There are very few downsides to Adobe Photoshop Elements although it can be very slow to open. However, when it finally does open, all actions are performed at lightening speed. Version 9 has also addressed many of the drawbacks from the previous version including the ability to quickly share photos and videos on Facebook and support for Mac multitouch. The new Photomerge technology also allows you to take the best of two photos to create an improved image.

The only issues some users have with Adobe Photoshop Elements is that Adobe still don't issue incremental updates for it.

Overall, Adobe Photoshop Elements is a superb photo editing application that offers all the power you need to create stunning professional results.

Adobe Acrobat X gives you several different views to read PDF documents including different degrees of zoom. Most importantly, it allows you to edit documents, comment on them, add stamps, watermarks and signatures as well as export them to a variety of formats including HTML and Postscript.

You can create PDFs from a variety of sources, including files, scanned documents and web pages. You can also combine and merge documents, create a PDF portfolio and use a variety of tools to add multimedia, create PDF forms, add digital signatures and much more.

Adobe introduced the PDF format to the world via Adobe Reader and although there are many competitors now, it's still the reference point for most PDF reading software.

However, its development from simple reader to bloated PDF tool hasn't been without drawbacks. One result is that it is now so overloaded with plugins and extensions that it's frequently criticized as being bloated and slow. Adobe have tried to address many of these speed issues and the memory footprint has been improved although there's no doubt that many users, especially on older Macs, will find it too slow still.

Of course, the main job of Adobe Reader is to open PDF documents which it eventually does. When opened however, Adobe Reader is probably the best tool out there for allowing you to navigate pages either manually or via search terms. The amount of preferences is absolutely mind boggling - Adobe Reader certainly can't be criticized for lack of customization options - and you can now upload files for sharing instantly at Acrobat.com.

However, for some reason there are many issues with 64-bit machines. One of them is that the PDF viewer plug-in is not compatible with Safari running in 64-bit mode. Another problem is that it does tend to mess-up fonts in Word documents that have been converted to PDF when opening them.

Adobe Reader is one of those applications that started off well but now has many enemies, especially on Mac. However, it's still a decent tool if all you want to do is view PDFs and don't mind hanging around for them to open.

Although photo software such as iPhoto and Picasa have made making photo slideshows much easier, they're not dedicated tools for the task. Neither handle videos well either when it comes to slideshows and presentations.

PulpMotion Advanced does a lot of the hard work for you by including a number of visual themes with which to work with.

As with the original version, your own media is organized down the right side of the interface and the timeline runs along the bottom very much like a video editor. To create your own animations, simply drag and drop elements onto the main interface in the same way as you would in iMovie. When you're ready, you need to export it and PulpMotion Advanced provides options to do so via Mail, exporting to QuickTime, publishing to a website using iWeb, uploading it onto an iPhone or even creating a personal screensaver with it. Alternatively, you can publish it as a standalone media player that anyone should be able to watch on their machine.

The great thing about PulpMotion Advanced is that it does a lot of the hard work for you by providing some impressive themes, automatically syncing music. pacing the presentation etc. The interface tries to pack a lot in meaning it does feel a bit cluttered at times but this is a minor drawback on what otherwise is an excellent application. In addition, I found it very unstable in Snow Leopard experiencing quite a few hang-ups along the way.

Overall, PulpMotion Advanced is an excellent multimedia presentation tool that will make your multimedia shows very impressive. If you liked the original, then this version will only make your presentations even better.

Until now, the primary option available to the photographer was to render these fisheye images using rectilinear mapping techniques. These methods have many drawbacks, such as distortion of people near the perimeter and loss of resolution and data.

Fisheye-Hemi offers an aesthetically pleasing and natural view of the image using a unique mapping technology! Fisheye-Hemi provides a more normal view of people by not distorting their faces and bodies, improves the resolution of the image, displays the intended composition and framing, and straightens vertical lines.

The most important requirement for Fisheye-Hemi was to not distort people, no matter where they are in the image. The faces and bodies must appear as normal as possible.

The Fisheye-Hemi Plug-In preserves the people. Another important feature of Fisheye-Hemi is the clarity of the mapping. A rectilinear mapping will discard approximately one third of the pixels and crop to the center along the horizontal axis.

Photographers purchase lens to capture up to 180 degrees. Much of the data is discarded in a rectilinear view. Fisheye-Hemi uses almost all of the pixels.

A rectilinear view will shrink the center of the image which has the most detail. Fisheye-Hemi preserves this detail by using advanced mathematics to preserve all of the content of the original fisheye image.

Additionally, a rectilinear projection discards much of the framing of the image as composed by the photographer through fisheye lens. Fisheye-Hemi preserves all of this framing; what was seen on the top and bottom of the image in the viewfinder is included in the processed image.

Last, but equally important, Fisheye-Hemi straightens vertical lines. The Fisheye-Hemi Plug-In produces an aesthetically pleasing image from the fisheye lens!
