Calibre is a library for eBooks. It has a big, bold interface that's really easy to use, and ebook files of most formats can just be dragged into the Calibre window. Editing the metadata (title, genre etc) is just a case of hitting the button on the tool bar, and typing in your changes. You can select multiple books and edit them in bulk too, for example if you want to regroup some books in a particular genre.

Viewing is also just a button click, and opens an ebook reader window. Here you can increase or decrease the font size to your comfort, add bookmarks and more. You can also set Calibre to download feed from news websites, although the layout results are sometimes a bit odd. There is also, of course, ebook reader synchronizing, so you can easily keep your device up to date.

ComicRack is a multi-functional tool that supports several formats – including CBR and CBZ - and allows comics to be displayed in several ways, such as two-page view or full screen.

Besides its support for CBR and CBZ comics, Comical also stands out for having a clean, intuitive interface and being really light on system resources. The whole Comical interface, except for a tiny toolbar at the bottom and a small menu bar on top, is devoted to the comic.

Comical lets you choose between various viewing modes, can display one or two pages at a time and also includes a zoom tool. On the downside, it doesn’t support notations or bookmarks of any kind.

Comica is stable and effective. It is compatible with ZIP and RAR compressed files, and the more common CBR and CBZ comic book compressed formats. Once installed, it'll open up with a welcome page that also works as tutorial, explaining the basic features of the program.

You can browse the list of comics on the left side of the interface, and also import your own comics to Comica. Selected comics will be displayed on the right-side pane, though you can also view them in full screen, and toggle the top toolbar on and off.

Comica includes hundreds of comics and downloads them quite quickly. The program also lets you mark certain comics as favorites and checks them for updates automatically. On the downside, the program lacks a bookmarking feature. Also, make sure you have the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 installed or you won’t be able to download anything at all.

Despite minor drawbacks, Comical is a stable, and more importantly fast comic book reader.

CoView has been designed with the comic as the most important element, removing anything else from the interface. This special design leaves a lot of room for the comic itself but it makes CoView a bit hard to manage because there are no menus and everything is controlled with hotkeys.

The first key you need is F1 to open the menu, and then i to change language. Unfortunately it seems that CoView’s language settings are not saved, so you'll have to switch to English every time you run the program.

CoView allows you to read comics almost in any format: it supports special comic file types such as CBR and CBZ, but also images stored in archives or folders. You can browse through them and read just like you turn the pages of a real comic. With the zoom tool you won't miss a single detail of the drawings, while CoView's bookmark tool will enable you to continue your reading just where you left it.

Coview is a digital comic reader with support for many formats. It's a bit confusing at the beginning but turns out to be a great tool for all comic fans.

MangaMeeya also features all the tools and utilities you need to enjoy your comics on the PC. That means you'll be able to open your comics in single or double page layout, read them in full screen, explore the contents of a book in thumbnails or even use the built-in magnifying glass to take a look at the smallest details.

The program's full support for keyboard and mouse makes it really easy to use. It also has support for a wide variety of image formats, including .CBR/.CBZ files. Unfortunately, MangaMeeya doesn't seem to support certain common file formats, like .7z or .PNG, nor does MangaMeeya include any comics to start with. A final problem is that it’s lacking a file organizer, something that makes managing larger collections a whole lot easier.

MangaMeeya is a handy image viewer that makes reading manga and other comics much more comfortable - a true must-have for all comic fans!
