Rusty Hearts 5.0

Rusty Hearts is a Japanese-style action <a href="http://en.softonic.com/windows/role-playing-games"target="_blank">role playing game that features MMORPG features and brawler style gameplay.

If you like Japanese RPGs dungeon-crawling, you're going to love Rusty Hearts. The game is littered with rich environments, fun gameplay, and tons of upgrades. Like with many Japanese RPGs, Rusty Hearts has a slightly contrived plot that doesn't really matter. Just hack and slash your way through various monsters to gain experience points and items.

Installation of Rusty Hearts is a bit of pain. You have to download a downloader to get the game. The download is huge, taking over an hour on our fast connection. After the download completes, Rusty Hearts will install the needed <a href="http://directx-redistributable.en.softonic.com/"target="_blank">Direct X version. You'd think that'd be the end, but the game needs to be patched at first launch. When you've finally done all that, you can play.

Gameplay is fun but can get repetitive. Choose one of 4 different characters and control him or her with your keyboard or a gamepad. A gamepad with an analog stick for movement will definitely help, but playing with a keyboard is acceptable. Visit various linear dungeons and jump, hack, and slash your way through sections of the dungeons, one at a time. Rusty Heart's battle system is reminiscent of the <taglink type="program" country="en" id="71732">Devil May Cry</taglink> series. The combo system makes combat interesting. You can block and use special learned attacks to mix things up. Rusty Hearts also features some pretty intense boss battles.

Rusty Hearts lets you play cooperatively with another friend or with strangers. There are also tons of unlockables and skills to learn, rewarding loyal players. Rusty Hearts features a solid single player campaign and storyline with cut scenes littered throughout the game to give this free to play game a more immersive experience.

Overall, Rusty Hearts is a fun, action RPG. While installation woes and cheesy writing might turn players off, its fun gameplay and immersive world are more than enough to recommend this game.

Download Rusty Hearts 5.0 in Softonic

PCSX2 0.9.8

PCSX2 is a Playstation 2 emulator for PC.

The PCSX2 project has been running for a little over four years now, and its popularity has grown steadily since its release. From initially just being able to run a few public domain demos, PCSX2's current state enables many games to boot and actually go in-game, such as the famous <taglink type="program" country="en" id="325871">Final Fantasy X</taglink> or <taglink type="program" country="en" id="71732">Devil May Cry</taglink> 3.

PS2 Emulation is a complex task, far worse than emulating previous generation consoles like the PlayStation 1, N64 or Saturn, simply due to the CPU power required to get 'playable' speeds from a PS2 game under emulation. PCSX2 does the job remarkably well, but don't throw your Playstation 2 away quite yet. It struggles with high-speed action and is prone to freezing or crashing at the most annoying moments.

PCSX2 comes in 2 versions, the TLB and the VM (virtual memory) one. The TLB version is pcsx2t.exe while the VM version is pcsx2.exe. First try running the VM version, following the instructions given (type your account user name, log off/on and restart). If PCSX2 still fails to allocate the memory, simply use the TLB version. Don't worry - the speed difference is not that great. After that, the PCSX2 setup procedure is quite lengthy, although if your Playstation 2 is broken, you'll find this a more than adequate replacement.

PCSX2 is an adequate PS2 emulator. Just don't expect miracles!

Download PCSX2 0.9.8 in Softonic

Devil May Cry 4 Trial Edition

The game presents the hard battle between the forces of evil and a powerful hero – the character we control. This time it's not just Dante (the original protagonist), but two people instead: the aforementioned Dante and also Nero, who appears in this demo and has nothing to do with the CD burning tool.

The game's objectives involve completing several missions, gathering objects and of course, killing all the evil creatures you'll find on your way to the final boss. And the best part in the game is precisely these fights against demons, monsters and other strange living beings. Being a hack and slash adventure, Devil May Cry 4 focuses on close combats and enables you to perform extraordinary movements and incredible combos with your sword and a new powerful weapon, the Devil Bringer. Plus, battles feature a hard-beating background music that reminds me of the Blade original soundtrack and which only make them more exciting.

The graphics in Devil May Cry are impressive. I tested the game on a Vista machine with DirectX 10, and I can tell the game makes the most of the computer's resources, rendering beautiful landscapes, realistic light effects and smooth movements.

On the downside we find game's controls. You can really tell this game was originally developed for consoles, because it's really hard to control it with a keyboard. If you have a gamepad you can plug into your PC, I'd recommend using it even if it's only to test the demo.

Devil May Cry 4 presents us with a new episode in the war between Nero and Dante against the forces of evil. Great graphics and brilliant battles make of this game a worthy action adventure, despite its difficult keyboard controls.

Download Devil May Cry 4 Trial Edition in Softonic
