This application allows you to run programs written for Microsoft Windows without actually installing the operating system.

CrossOver Mac includes a Wine software library of Windows programs that it can run. You'll find very popular applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Quick or Windows Media Player. Be aware though that you'll still need the program installer to actually install any application.

CrossOver Mac will create bottles, which are essentially Windows environments, for the programs you install. These include their own C drive, subdirectories and registry.

Since CrossOver Mac is not truly a virtual environment, it can launch applications much faster. The downside to this is that you never really feel like you are using Windows. Another problem with CrossOver Mac is that software unsupported by Wine either won't work or will be unstable.

CrossOver Mac lets you install and run Windows applications on your Mac.

Download CrossOver Mac Standard 10.2 in Softonic

Both AlwaysONline X and Unpopular REQUIRE Mac 10. 1 or higher. You are using Mac right now if the Apple menu (in the upper-left corner of your screen) is blue.

AlwaysONline X prevents you from being logged off AOL (or any other ISP) due to inactivity. Unpopular eliminates the annoying pop-up advertisements that appear when you are browsing the internet.

Together, these two programs make your internet usage far less annoying and far more productive. Unpopular is designed for Internet Explorer; it will not work with Netscape.

This fantasy game similar to Dungeons & Dragons sets you off on a number of adventures, where, more often than not, you'll have to use you logic and reasoning to solve puzzles. Although the graphics are pretty weak, and more adapted to Mac Classic than OS X, we found the game fairly enjoyable.

You can start off playing with any of more than a dozen demo characters. The tutorial allows you to quickly adjust to the game and understand what sorts of actions you can do like exchanging karma or doing spirit links. The game play feels a bit sluggish at first but you quickly get used to it. To chat with people all you have to do is walk up to them and start typing.

Clan Lord provides loads of playing time. Although nothing like World of Warcraft, it's that little nostalgia feeling that only classics offer.

Download Clan Lord 708 in Softonic

It'll ensure that your Mac isn't clogged with obsolete files and runs smoothly.

Mac Cleanse is a shareware program mainly focused on cleaning internet applications, like browsers. It provides a list of the applications you can clean, and clicking on a a name will open up a drop down menu of the elements you can check for deletion, such as cookies, downloads, or recent searches. The right side of the interface features an information panel with a description for the selected application, something which isn't really necessary.

We were a little confused by the way Mac Cleanse worked. The + and - buttons on the left won't let you add more applications to the cleanse list. Instead these let you create or remove custom selections of the applications in the list. The 'cleanse' button isn't very apparent either. You'll find it on the bottom right of the interface.

The good thing about Mac Cleanse though is that it lets you select and clean multiple applications quickly and safely, saving you lots of time.

Despite the slightly counterintuitive interface, Mac Cleanse is efficient at cleaning up multiple internet applications at once.

Download MacCleanse 2.1.4 in Softonic

The internet is a goldmine of information about the World - but it can be overwhelming. World Explorer brings together geographical data in an easy-to-digest and organized interface that makes learning fun.

World Explorer makes uses of Google Maps and Street View to take you to over 350,000 locations pointing out and highlighting popular sightseeing spots along the way. There are geo-location tools to help you locate exactly where certain spots are if you ever want to physically visit them and a trip planner helps you plan real trips.

The navigation window in World Explorer is a bit small - it would be nice if you could increase the size of it. There also seems no way to enable 3D street viewing. However, I like the way that it uses Wikipedia to give additional info on each location and instantly allows you to calculate the distance between various hotspots.

World Explorer is a great learning tool for anyone interested in geography and sightseeing.

Download World Explorer 1.0 in Softonic

Internet Explorer 5.2.3

Internet Explorer for Mac was Microsoft's free web browser designed to run on Mac computers. While you can still download Internet Explorer for Mac from this page, it is important to note that the product is no longer supported by Microsoft.

Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and does not provide further security or performance updates. Since the browser is no longer designed to handle the requirements of most modern web pages, we strongly advise you to try Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Opera instead. Alternatively, just check out all of the other browsers available for Mac.

However, if you really can't help yourself and are an Internet Explorer nostalgic, you might want to try it for a trip down memory lane. However, for normal internet browsing we'd really discourage you from using it. We couldn't even render the Softonic website in it and indeed, most websites failed to load properly. Internet Explorer for Mac is incredibly slow, buggy, prone to crashes and freezing and is woefully short of security settings.

Since development finished in 2005, Internet Explorer for Mac doesn't offer even the most basic features that you would consider a prerequisite on any browser nowadays like tabs, extensions, saved sessions or private data management.

There are absolutely no compelling reasons to use Internet Explorer for Mac. If you've just switched from Windows to Mac, try one of the browsers suggested above instead.

Download Internet Explorer 5.2.3 in Softonic
