Personally, I tend not to browse the Web too much on my mobile. I find it takes a bit too long to check all the various news sites and information services on the device - time which I don't normally have when I'm on the move.

As a result, I was very interested to try out Pocket Express, an app which assimilates all the latest news and information in one place. All of the information is available easily through the program's ultra-simple main menu. You simply click on one of the nine icons to take you directly to that kind of information (News, Sports, Weather, Finance, Entertainment, Movies, Travel, Horoscopes and access to 24-hour tech support). There's also an 'Extras' section, although this is mainly just advertising for other Handmark products.

The 'News' section in Pocket Express is very well presented, offering you a rundown of the top ten stories, each with a headline and a thumbnail image. You just click on one of these headlines to open it up and read it. You can change the category of news using the icons at the bottom of the menu. The only thing is, the news is very U.S-centric, which might annoy you if you don't live there (there is a World News section, though). It's also worth bearing in mind that most of the stories come via the Associated Press. Although this is a very credible news organization, it by no means presents the whole picture in terms of current World events.

Besides its news section, Pocket Express has some other very useful functions, which are again available with just a single click from the main menu. For instance, you can check the weather in your current location or anywhere else in the world, view the hottest stocks through the 'Finance' section, and even see show times at your local cinema. I particularly like the 'Travel' feature, where you can view routes and schedules for flights across the globe.

One of the few criticisms I have about Pocket Express is that it has a heavy focus on America - not just in its news and sports coverage but also in the fact that some features, such as the movie show times will not work outside the USA.

On the whole though, Pocket Express presents an exceptionally quick and easy way of filling yourself in on the events of the day.

I used to really enjoy those graphical adventure games that were very popular on the PC in the late 80s and early 90s, and Final Battle provides the chance to revisit those salad days. The plot is a similar one - you wake up in a dungeon and must save a princess who's been captured by an evil madman. OK, so I admit not much thought really went into the overall mission, but there are plenty of riddles, twists and turns to keep you intrigued by the plot for a long while.

The game boasts all the ingredients of those old adventure romps: interactive dialogues with weird and wonderful characters, lots of weapons and objects to collect, and a smattering of hidden areas to explore. There are more than 50 different levels to explore, although as you proceed some of them become annoyingly taxing to the point where you want to give up and throw your phone in the bin.

Part of the reason why The Final Battle kept me going until - well, the final battle, is its gorgeous graphics and superb soundtrack. The drawings are detailed and colourful and the audio captures the mood of the adventure perfectly. There are lots of nice cut-scenes and intro sequences, although I must point out that the quality of written English used is pretty bad at times. Maybe that's just me being picky though.

On the whole, The Final Battle is a captivating game that perfectly recreates the old graphical adventure genre to help transport you back to the 80s.

Once upon a time computer games didn't have the luxury of fancy graphics to make them appealing to users. Instead, they had to rely a lot more on imagination and original ideas to entice gamers. I remember loads of text-based adventure games that had me gripped for longer than many of today's lavish productions.

Lost in the Pyramid recaptures the magic of those classics in the form of an imaginative quest in which you star as Indiana Bones, a famous archeologist who has a dream one night about a pyramid. After waking up, you must go to consult a psychic who reveals where to start your mission, then it's off into the wild unknown to explore the mythical building of your dreams.

Along the way you'll need to make decisions based on the information presented to you on screen and your responses determine whether you score points and progress to the next stage, lose points, or even lose one of your five lives. The control system is akin to most text-based adventure games, where you need to respond to a statement (e.g. 'Open the door?', 'Go to Africa?', 'Pay the psychic?') by clicking Yes or No (or 'What' to repeat the question).

The responses to your answers can be hilarious at times and this makes the Lost in the Pyramid great fun to play. Some of the put-downs and one-liners delivered by the computer are worthy of a Chris Rock stand-up show. Despite its humorous nature, progressing through the levels in no laughing matter, and some of the puzzles will take you quite some time to complete.

Graphically, the game isn't anyway near as bad as those famous text-based games of old on on the Commodore or Spectrum. There are colorful cartoon pictures along the way that illustrate what is happening, although I felt there could have been more of these, as some stay on the screen for a long time.

Overall though, Lost in the Pyramid is really good fun, and is a big enough adventure to keep you captivated for ages.

It is a very easy to configure and save application and you won't believe for how long you have been staring at white buttons with white fills, after you have configured your own favourite color scheme. We all hate getting stuck in traffic jams, so why on Earth would anyone put themselves through it for fun in a computer game?

Although there's little in the way of in-game help, it's pretty easy to pick up, and before too long you'll be engrossed.

The inclusion of a 2D view is welcome because sometimes it can be difficult to see where you can move in a real gridlock situation. Although the demo only lets you play a rather stingy 10 levels, there are 250 to play in the game so this is one that will keep you going for a while.

I love Tetris but as regular readers of my reviews will know, I'm always moaning about the lack of originality when it comes to developers who clone the formula to make block-building mobile games.

Finally, I've come across a puzzler that extends the format of the game beyond the realms of the original. Quick's SameGame takes a more mathematical approach, and scoring is based around the formula n^2 - 3n+4, so you need to be a bit sharper than you do in those games where you just match up the colours of blocks.

In fact, as the developer points out, you never actually 'win' in this game, merely try to beat your best score and head to the top of the leaderboard. Getting those big scores isn't easy and is made more difficult by the fact that every time you remove a group of chips, the gap is filled in, hampering the formation of new groups.

In terms of its graphics and presentation, SameGame is as basic as they come, but then, if you're the kind of intellectual type who would enjoy this game, then this is probably immaterial to you.

It doesn't look great but this one will certainly test your brain power.

If you have problems remembering things then my advice to you is to start writing them down on pieces of paper. Although I've lost track of how many bits of paper I've lost, which is why I now have pieces of paper reminding me to look for stray pieces of paper.

Fish breeding may not be the most obvious choice for a computer game, but Fish Tycoon really makes a splash.

The aim of Fish Tycoon is to grow a thriving tank of fish through feeding them, cross-breeding the different types of fish, and treating any illnesses they might pick up. The ultimate aim is to create seven types of hybrid rare species of fish in order to win the game.

If you're expecting a face-paced action game then you'll be sorely disappointed by Fish Tycoon. The game is essentially Tamagotchi-style affair, in which your fish will grow and breed over a long period of time (the fish will even grow old when your device is turned off). Fish Tycoon is quite easy to get into, thanks to a handy tutorial mode, and you'll soon discover how to hatch eggs, feed, and care for the fish.

The graphics in Fish Tycoon are colorful and the fish are quite realistic. There are a few nice sound effects, though not enough in my opinion.

Overall, Fish Tycoon is a fun way of learning how to create your own aquarium - without killing any real fish.
