Your plane spits out bullets and bombs constantly, so no need to hit a 'fire' key. In fact, it's pretty difficult not to destroy your first few enemies and, at first, the game feels like it's a bit too easy.

As things progress, however, the game gets harder and the bosses get nastier!

The game's sound effects are OK but the repetitive electronic soundtrack is pretty irritating. Luckily, the music and SFX volume can be changed separately!

The gameplay in Happy Lines involves moving colored balls (with faces) to make lines of five or more balls of the same color. You simply tap on a ball to select it, then move it to the square you desire. Be careful, because balls can only be moved if there is a clear path between its starting point and destination. It might sound complicated but it's actually not.

You can play Happy Lines in either progressive mode, where the 40 levels get increasingly difficult, or in arcade mode, where you can choose your level. You can choose to play Happy Lines with or without a time limit, depending on how difficult you want to make it for yourself.

Happy Lines challenging fun for a while, and the graphics are certainly cute and colorful. However, it does tend to get a bit repetitive.

If you're a fan of puzzle games like Columns or Tetris, then it might be worth taking a look at Happy Lines.

TempoPerfect is designed to help you stay in time by providing a clear and precise beat that can be easily adjusted to give you the correct beats per minute (bpm). You can set the bpm (from 40-280) using the arrow keys, or by entering the number yourself, and it is then shown in the digital display. When the beat is played, a flashing bar at the bottom of the interface lets you know its progress.

Unlike many basic metronomes, TempoPerfect also lets you set accented beasts and allows you to apply up to 8 subdivisions per beat. I also liked the inclusion Beat Tempo chart in TempoPerfect, as it means you can quickly check the technical definition for the time signature you're composing in (e.g. Allegro, Adagio, Largo, etc.)

TempoPerfect is one of the most comprehensive digital metronomes I've seen and it certainly beats the pants off using a mechanical device, which has the tendency to wind down. Perhaps the inclusion of a few virtual instruments or sample sound files would've made this a more complete piece of software though.

But if you're a practicing musician who needs something to keep time, TempoPerfect lets you do so with ease on your Pocket PC.

The Pocket PC alone does not have the ability to play standard MIDI files. This is because it lacks the necessary hardware support in the form of Wavetable synthesis necessary to achieve this. 4Pinball is a graphically-rich PDA pinball sim. The game, which is played in horizontal view on your display, features huge scrolling tables of at least three screens in height (only one table is playable in this demo version). There are plenty of visual effects that appear when you smash into targets, bump buffers, or launch balls. 4Pinball also features some nice sound effects and in-game speech although, disappointingly, there's no music in the game.

Controlling the action in 4Pinball is done using the left and right directional buttons to move the flippers, and by using the softkeys to tilt the table. These controls can be customized in the Setup menu.

There are all the usual loops, targets, bumpers and spinners on the table, as well as ball options such as extra ball, multi-ball, jackpot and bumper attack. However, I still found the games to be a little boring and this is probably because there aren't really any 'features' in 4Pinball like you'd find on a decent real-life game. Playing the space table over and over again gets a bit repetitive and it's in need of some bonus modes to keep your attention.

4Pinball is a polished pinball sim, with realistic physics and nice sound effects. If only it were a bit more interesting.

In SPB Quads you need to create rectangles of blocks by marking corners that are the same color. The bigger the rectangle (i.e. the further away the corners are from each other), the more points you will make. Don't worry if you don't understand at first because SPB Quads will automatically feed you with hints if it's taking you a while to make a rectangle.

The presentation of SPB Quads is impressive. The blocks are shiny and colorful, and there are plenty of cool visual effects. The soothing music is a great choice for this type of game and the sound effects are good too.

There are two different game modes in SPB Quads - Ever Quad, which is a never-ending strategic game; and Time Quad, where there's a set time limit on your games. Both versions are fun and challenging, although SPB Quads does get repetitive after a while, even with all the bonuses you can collect.

As a timewaster though, SPB Quad is perfect for brightening up those dull bus journeys.

X-Mas Pipes is a free game that challenges you to make circuits by joining pipes together on a 12 x 12 grid. Simply tap on a section of pipe to rotate it. A pipeline is highlighted in red every time a new piece is joined onto it.

Be warned, X-Mas Pipes is not an easy game and it could drive you mad. That's because every time you move a section a new piece of pipe is added elsewhere on the grid. Pieces are also automatically added every few seconds, and this process speeds up as you score more points.

Disappointingly, X-Mas Pipes isn't actually that Christmassy. In fact, aside from the snow scene background, there isn't really anything festive about it. The music in the game is not even Christmas-related, and the annoying tinny dance beat adds to the hectic insanity of the game.

X-Mas Pipes a challenging puzzle game that will keep you occupied on those cold winter nights, but its frenzied gameplay might send you crazy before you reach new year.

If you've got the memory of a goldfish then one of the best ways to sharpen your powers of recall is by playing matching pairs. Twice presents a novel version of the classic game for your mobile phone.

The presentation of Twice is very pleasant. The game combines fantastical graphics with dreamy sound effects and magical music to create an enchanting, tranquil gaming experience.

I'm always impressed by the creative ways in which developers utilize the movement-sensing G-Sensor feature inside certain Windows Mobile devices. Resco Bubbles is one of those motion-sensitive games that really shines.

Your objective in Resco Bubbles is to pop all of the bubbles that are spread across the screen by rolling a marble. That might sound easy, but the catch is that these bubbles are numbered and you need to burst them in order.

To make the game even more interesting, Resco Bubbles is played across a range of different surfaces, such as wood, carpet, and linolium. The movement and response of the ball differs depending on the terrain.

Resco Bubbles is played by tilting your phone up and down and side to side to move the ball around. You'll need to enter the calibration menu before you start for premium accuracy, but this is fairly straightforward to do.

The game is great fun to play and requires lots of dexterity, although it does get a little repetitive with just five levels, so it might be worth upgrading to the full version. Graphically, Resco Bubbles looks nice, with smooth animation and realistic bubble-popping sound effects, although perhaps the addition of a musical soundtrack would've lifted the game a bit.

Overall though, Resco Bubbles is one of the more appealing G-Sensor-based games.

Fishing in the North Pole can be a rather chilling experience, especially for the fish.

And so it is in Psarakia, where not only do you have to pull out as many colorful fish from the freezing water as you can but you need to defrost them from the ice too. Oh, and there's only a limited amount of time for you to be able to do this.

In order to play Psarakia you need to select adjacent blocks on the screen that contain the same kind of fish. The ice then breaks and the fish appear. The object of the game is to match two or more of each fish in vertical and horizontal rows. The more fish you match, the more points you earn and the quicker you get to the next levels.

Options in Psarakia are a little thin on the ground. You can set the difficulty before you start and have music on or off. Although changes in difficulty make the game a little more interesting Psarakia can still get rather repetitive.

You might get hooked for a while, but ultimately Psarakia isn't something you'll stick with for long.
