You play as Carl Johnson, returning to his home of Los Santos after five years away. Plenty has changed over the years, and Carl sets about getting his gang's reputation and influence back. GTA: San Andreas' gameplay is classic GTA - tons of cinematic cut scenes, varied missions and lots of mini games, spread over a free roaming sandbox world.

What defines GTA: San Andreas more than anything is the scale. It's hugely ambitious, set in a massive state featuring three big cities, and plenty of countryside. The campaign is enormous, and there is plenty more to do beside. The storyline, a rags to riches tale, may not be massively original but it's well told with excellent acting and lots of memorable and funny characters. The radio stations are excellent, with a great mix of 90s music and hilarious adverts.

There are points where GTA: San Andreas will be frustrating for some. Racing cars in the countryside can be pretty slippy for instance, and building up Carl's lungs for swimming underwater takes too long. Some of the missions are a little annoying too, but hey are eclipsed by the best moments of the game and the amount of fun you can have roaming the state, enjoying the sites and creating havoc!

GTA: San Andreas is a milestone in sandbox gaming. It's violent and very much an adult game, and while it has gameplay flaws, the overall achievement and the fun you can have playing are pretty much unbeatable.

Until now, we've heard nothing but rumors about GTA V. Apparently it might use L.A. Noire's MotionScan technology, while others are suggesting that it will revolutionize sandbox games. Until we see some evidence though, what's really on the cards is anyone's guess.

As usual, your aim is to tackle the criminal underworld as you battle through the urban sprawl of Vice City which is loosely based on Miami in the mid-eighties. Along the way, the action can take place anywhere from the beach and swamps to downtown ghettos. The gameplay retains the classic non-linear style with a character driven narrative after you arrive in Vice City with little more than the shirt on your back.

If you loved Grand Theft Auto III then you'll probably be blown away by Vice City which amazes with it's depth, quality and graphics. It's basically an extension of GTA III but has more features such as soundtracks, voice overs, weapons and vehicles (including sea planes). Like the former however, some of the elements are adult so it's not for children - you must be at least 17 years old to download this game.

The stories and missions are more complex than GTA III and there are more real life elements. Triggering police chases is one of the most exciting elements which is more subtle than in GTA III. Running a red light won't do it but if you cause a bit too much mayhem on the streets, they'll hunt you down in seconds.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a superb action game that will blow you away if you loved GTA III.

Grand Theft Auto III continues the controversial Grand Theft Auto franchise into the dark and seedy underworld of Liberty City. GTA III for Mac gives you more freedom than ever before to do what you want, when you want in crime ridden Liberty City. For the first time, GTA III introduces 3D graphics for an even more realistic and pulsating gaming experience.

Liberty City is loosely based on New York and follows the life of a criminal who was betrayed by his girlfriend in a bank robbery. The graphics and scenarios are extremely adult in places (such as the ability to pick-up prostitutes and do car jackings) so parents should be aware that GTA III isn't for younger players who must be 17 or over to download this game.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to run GTA III for Mac in windowed mode and it hasn't been integrated with Lion's full screen mode function.

GTA III is one of the most popular and controversial games ever released and Mac fans of the game won't be disappointed.

This official trailer introduces us to Red Dead Redemption's huge world, full of cowboys, bandits, and beautiful scenery. Anyone skeptical that a game without cars, helicopters and rocket launchers can't succeed should watch this high definition video!

There are lots of new things to do in Red Dead Redemption, like hunting, exploration, cooperative multiplayer and of course a lot of shooting. As with the GTA games, it looks like Rockstar will reference lots of classic movies in the game, with a story that covers the last years of the Wild West, before the breakout of World War One.

Westerns may have been big in Cinema, but that's never been true with video games - maybe Red Dead Redemption will change all that.

Mac and PlayStation 3 owners may despair that Rockstar's episodic content isn't coming to their systems. However, if you own a computer, Blackberry or iPhone, you can at least enjoy some of the shiny atmosphere from the upcoming GTA The Ballad Of Gay Tony atmosphere with this wallpaper.

This is the first image available from the game, and again has a much different style to the original story featuring the world weary Niko, and the biker gang episode The Lost and The Damned. GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony Wallpaper looks like a much sleazier, neon colored story.

Unfortunately there is just the one piece of artwork, but there are eight widescreen and normal versions, plus iPhone and Blackberry optimized images. There is sure to be a resolution that fits your monitor.
