Business Card Reader 1.1

Business Card Reader allows you to quickly add new contacts to your phone just by taking a photo of their business card.

The application is ideal for anyone who regularly attends conferences, exhibitions, and the like, because it means business card details don't need to be entered manually. With Business Card Reader, you just snap a photo of the card and the program will scan it to retrieve the details. It then opens a new contact page with all of the details pre-filled. This data can then be quickly checked and edited if necessary, before saving to your phone. Business Card Reader even has an option to find a person's LinkedIn account based on the information it collects.

The concept of Business Card Reader is a very innovative and it can make for a useful tool for the traveling businessman. The app recognizes English, French, Italian, German and Spanish cards. However, the program doesn't provide 100 percent accuracy every time. The card images need to be very sharp for Business Card Reader to recognize them. I found it impossible to get a decent enough shot, on the HTC Touch, for instance, because the auto-focus is poor.

Business Card Reader does have an option to select an image from your device. This means you could take pictures with a decent digital camera, transfer them to your Windows Mobile device, then import them into your contacts using Business Card Reader.

If you've got a bulging collection of business cards but don't have the time to sort through and store them, Business Card Reader could be godsend.

Download Business Card Reader 1.1 in Softonic

G-Alarm 2.5

Alarm programs for the Pocket PC are much of a muchness generally. However, G-Alarm offers a slightly more interesting way to wake up.

G-Alarm, which is designed for the HTC Touch Diamond, offers all the usual features you'd expect from an alarm application. You can set multiple alarms each with different names, select which days of the week you want the alarm to go off, set a fading volume level and define vibration alerts.

You can choose to wake up to your favorite tracks simply by browsing to the audio files on stored on your device or storage card. What's more, G-Alarm allows you to select different tracks for different alarms.

The unique feature of G-Alarm though is the fact that in order to turn off an alarm or activate a snooze you must first complete a maze puzzle. Although the mazes aren't particularly difficult I thought this was an excellent addition as I know how easy it is just to keep tapping the snooze button in the morning. G-Alarm forces you to complete the maze game before you can snooze, meaning you've actually got a bit of time to think about whether you've really got time to go back to sleep.

So, if you're a bit of a snooze button addict G-Alarm could be the perfect way to stop you from oversleeping.

Download G-Alarm 2.5 in Softonic

TouchCaller 1.0.11

Using a finger is a popular way of beckoning someone, but normally you need to be face-to-face in order for this to have any effect. Not any more though, because thanks to the 'Touch' contact manager installed on the new generation of HTC devices you can let your finger do the talking from your mobile.

TouchCaller emulates the calling system used on the Apple iPhone to provide you with a fun and original way of ringing someone.
The application lists all contacts on the agenda in a more visual way and allows you to execute the most common functions, such as call list or details without using the pointer.

In other words, directly with your fingers. Where TouchCaller really comes into its own is when browsing back and forth through the pages of your agenda.

The spinning of a 3D cube provides a very interesting and entertaining way of viewing this information. However, it does put quite a strain on system resources, so you'll need a fast processor in order to enjoy the best of it, otherwise it's very slow and annoying.

If you've got a powerful enough processor in your Pocket PC, TouchCaller's captivating user interface will make you want to call your friends all the time.

Download TouchCaller 1.0.11 in Softonic

HTC Touch Keyboard

One of the few faults with the HTC device is that the built-in keyboard is a little awkward to use. Its small size really puts a limit on its usability, meaning that if you need to type long documents or messages you can spend hours doing so, when it would take minutes on a standard keyboard.

HTC Touch Keyboard is designed to rectify this problem, increasing the accuracy of your key presses and thus the writing speed.
To achieve this, the program increases the size of the keys to occupy nearly three-quarters of your screen.

You can choose between a standard QWERTY layout or one similar to a phone keypad, where each key contains three letters, making its size even bigger.

Like the default keyboard, HTC Touch Keyboard includes its own predictive text system, along with correction and replacement of words. It's even available in five different language character sets, making it great for English, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Chinese speakers.

If you're frustrated by the small size of the built-in keyboard on the HTC, this application makes for a very usable alternative.

Download HTC Touch Keyboard in Softonic
