TouchLauncher 1.2.1

We're always being told that Palm is now pretty much a dead platform but if you're still using one of these devices you needn't worry too much that you're falling behind the times because there are plenty of ways to customize your handset to freshen it up a bit.

TouchLauncher provides you with the power to transform your Palm to resemble something far more modern and cutting-edge, namely, the iPhone. In order to start skinning your OS you'll need to install the application file and the iFone icon set, both of which come bundled together in the same Zip.

Before you launch the app you get the chance to scan the memory of your PDA in order to automatically add icons of applications into TouchLauncher and remove deleted applications from the program. Once you finally get the program running you'll be staggered by the quality of icons in this pack, which are remarkable faithful to the Apple device. In fact, it left me wondering how Steve Jobs would react if he clapped eyes on TouchLauncher (no doubt a phone call to his lawyer would be foremost in his mind.)

The software is highly customizable and you can not only select icons for individual for each each of your installed applications from your icon sets, but also to categorize and change the name that appears underneath each utility of icon. Make sure you have plenty of RAM allocated on your device though, because TouchLauncher is a bit of a memory-hogger.

If you're fed up with your mates mocking your Palm then TouchLauncher provides a great way to turn their sneers into gasps.

Download TouchLauncher 1.2.1 in Softonic

Treobble 4.0

Just because the Apple iPhone does something in a certain way, it doesn't mean that it's the perfect way of doing it and that everyone else should copy it. Hang on, actually it does. Treobble is the latest in a growing number of programs designed to replicate the iPhone's intertia contact scrolling feature, this time for Treo devices, allowing you to peruse your address book simply by touching and sliding your finger up and down the screen.

It would be unfair to say that's all that it does though, because there are plenty of other features that help you enhance your contacts book. For instance, you can view all data from a particular contact, initiate a call, send an SMS message or an email, all without having to use the pointer.

The scrolling feature works surprisingly well unless you have lots of contacts, in which case it can get quite jerky. It also lacks the ability to perform incremental searches of your address book, which can get a bit annoying.

Nevertheless, Treobble is probably the closest thing you'll get to the iPhone's cool contact-scrolling function without actually upgrading to the Apple device.

Download Treobble 4.0 in Softonic

iPhoneImitation 1.2 D

We'd all love to have an iPhone but unfortunately not all of us have the cash to stump up for one. Don't worry though, because if you've got a Palm device you can at least pretend to have one of Apple's great inventions.

You might think that the Palm OS is a little antiquated now and to some degree you'd be right, but using iPhoneImitation you can disguise that fact with an interface that is remarkably true to Apple's new wonder device.

Once installed, the program embeds itself on your device and can be launched with an icon. The alternative Startup screen looks very similar to the iPhone, with some lovely animation. In fact all of the menu items are animated with a series of plush icons that replace the rather drab default Palm ones.

Another added bonus in this software package is the Pocket Tunes skin that adds iPod Touch-style control buttons to the MP3 player. It all looks very nice, but be warned that it does have a tendancy to drain battery power so I'd be wary about setting the program as your default launcher.

Nevertheless, this software provides a realistic simulation of the iPhone on your Palm.

Download iPhoneImitation 1.2 D in Softonic
