AnyVideo Converter HD is a powerful converter for Mac which allows you to convert to multiple formats to work on Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, iPod, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Blackberry, Nokia, Samsung, Android and many more.

AnyVideo Converter HD is very easy to use with a slick interface. The different device formats you can convert to are all illustrated with images of the devices in a slick iTunes style cover flow browser. Simply drag your video or a collection of videos onto the AnyVideo Converter HD icon. There are few settings beyond that though so if you need to specify, bitrate, framerate or other technical specs, you won't be able to.

Particularly when it comes to videos, the most impressive thing is that AnyVideo Converter HD retains both the quality and aspect ratio of them when converting. Before conversion all videos are analyzed if the original video has a smaller screen size than the native device, the converted video will have the same resolution as the original one. File sizes are minimized to decrease conversion time.

The sheer choice of formats to convert to in AnyVideo Converter HD is very impressive and conversions are generally fast. You don't need to have any specialist technical knowledge as everything is simply drag and drop with virtually no configuration. Please note that AnyVideo Converter HD does not convert .vob files and .m4v files with DRM, as required by law.

AnyVideo Converter HD is am extremely powerful and user friendly conversion tools for all your iPhone, iPod, iPad and other mobile or console needs.

Download AnyVideo Converter HD 1.2 in Softonic

TuneUp Media 2.2.1

Is your <taglink type="program" country="en" id="14159">iTunes</taglink> library a mess? Do you have badly or mislabeled tracks? Rewriting tags yourself can take forever, so TuneUp Media has been created to help you out.

TuneUp Media sits next to your iTunes window, and has four functions. First is 'Clean', which searches for possible fits to your mislabeled tracks, and then automatically changes the file's tag. You can also search for cover art in the same way. Drag any album missing artwork into the TuneUp Media box, and it will find suitable matches, then update your files. If you like the 'cover flow' feature on iTunes, this is a great way to make it look good.

DeDuper searches out duplicate songs in your collection, which you can then remove, and finally there is the Tuniverse. TuneUp Media's Tuniverse allows you to share what you're playing on Facebook, Tweet the song, and see related YouTube videos and biographies from Freebase. There are even concert and event notifications via the StubHub service.

TuneUp Media allows you to clean 500 songs and find 50 album covers, so once you've used them up you have to subscribe to do more. The unlimited 'Now Playing' and 'Concerts' functions might be useful to you, and the YouTube videos are a nice touch.

TuneUp Media is a nice idea. iTunes libraries can get really untidy, and it's good to have an automated cleaning system. The app sits neatly next to iTunes, and doesn't use significant system resources.

If you have lots of files in your iTunes library that need organizing, TuneUp Media is for you. The Facebook and Twitter features are useful, and the additional information TuneUp Media finds on your songs can be interesting too.

Download TuneUp Media 2.2.1 in Softonic

Safari 5.1.2

Safari is Apple's iconic super fast and elegant web browser for Mac.

Version 5 sees some exciting introductions such as a new Reader icon for easier reading in one page, faster page load times and vastly improved HTML5 support. All of the previous features in Safari, such as tabs on top for easier page management and Cover Flow to flip through your bookmarked sites iTunes style have been retained too.

If you're new to Safari, the first thing you'll notice is how clean it feels compared to many other browsers. There are no annoying toolbars or plugins installed and the result of this is that Safari looks trim and loads pages very quickly. The other benefit is that maximum space is given to the contents of your page rather than a chunky browser.

In the previous version of Safari, Apple introduced Top Sites which is one of the most impressive aspects of Safari. It shows a panoramic thumbnail view of your most visited sites in one screen. Just click on the window you want to visit that site. This certainly looks cool, although its day-to-day usefulness is questionable. It is a good way of tracking which sites you visit most frequently though and you can lock your favorite sites to one single position so that you'll always know where it is when you open Safari. Sites with a star in the corner denote those with new content.

Meanwhile Cover Flow lets you browse through your bookmarks presenting full page views of the sites as they looked the last time you browsed them. The principle is based on flipping through albums in iTunes. Again, this looks cool although usually, I don't really care what the site looked like the last time I visited it - I just want to get there as quickly as possible. What I do like is the History Search - just type a word and Safari throws up every single page it has cached with that word on - very useful when you can't remember where the hell you saw the name of that person or game.

Other handy features in Safari include Tabs on Top which makes it a little easier to access and open your tabs at the very top of Safari. You can even drag and drop tabs into another Safari window. Speed has always been of the essence in Safari and Apple have stepped up the pace with an enhanced Nitro engine which it claims executes Javascript 25% faster than the last version. It's certainly damn quick and I'm mighty impressed at how fast it's loading my favorite sites such as YouTube and the BBC (and Softonic of course!).

In this latest version of Safari, the most notable feature is the new Reader which allows you to view all of your content on one page although there is no way to change the font. There's also a new Bing search option for Safari's search field, in addition to Google and Yahoo! HTML5 support has been improved meaning you can now view HTML5 video in full screen plus HTML5 Geolocation features are now available to Safari users. Navigating in Safari has also been made much easier due to a more predictive URL bar which actually searches cached webpages for keywords and archiving of exactly when you viewed certain pages is more precise and refined.

In addition to these changes, all the standard features in Safari remain. By clicking on the RSS tag in the URL bar, you can get a view of all the posts in a feed, which you can present chronologically and get a detailed or a title view. There will be inevitably some programs and plugins - such as 1Password - that don't work with this new version of Safari but these issues will quickly be ironed out by the developers of respective software.

I love the look and speed of Safari but the lack of plugins available compared to Firefox and general instability issues mean that it's still going to be a while before Apple can lure me over to their browser.

Download Safari 5.1.2 in Softonic

In the battle to provide a decent alternative to Quicken for Mac on Lion, iBank is arguably leading the way with a fully featured personal finance application that's truly impressive. iBank has come a long way since its initial release and is now probably one of the best personal finance apps available on Mac.

Version 4 of iBank offers a sleek interface which makes it a pleasure to handle your personal finance, whether it be your budget, spending or portfolio. iBank is one of the few personal finance applications (along with Squirrel) that uses an iTunes style CoverFlow interface to show transactions and reports which looks great.

What about features though? iBank doesn't disappoint there either featuring integrated online banking which makes it easy to download and import account information securely from banking websites. Like Moneydance, it supports bill payment features and it will import all of your Quicken data. Unlike Moneydance, it can even scan documents and receipts and attach them to accounts for better organization and finance tracking and there's also an iPhone app.

You might notice some imperfections when importing data from Quicken 2007 but nothing you can't tidy-up quickly. iBank takes a bit of getting used to after Quicken but it has an extensive manual and plenty of tutorials to get you going. There's also an active forum of users where you can get help and suggest new features to the developers IGG Software who most users report are very responsive to problems and requests.

iBank includes analysis and forecast tools to generate graphs, charts and reports for all your financial information. If the stock market is what you're into, then you'll be glad to know iBank has got that covered. You can use it to manage an online porfolio, download daily quotes and get regular profit and loss reports on your investments.

iBank is a highly professional and complete financial organizer for Mac and a superb alternative to Quicken for Mac.

Download iBank 4.3.1 in Softonic

White Noise is an app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that offers a soothing solution to people who are unable to sleep or concentrate on what they're doing.

Do you like to hear the sound of waves lapping at the shore as you go to sleep? Or the natural buzz of a rainforest? If so, White Noise is for you.

Providing a range of ambient sounds to help you sleep or simply relax, White Noise features a slick iTunes style coverflow interface from which you can choose the sound you're looking for.

Cover Flow features a Digital Clock with sound timers that slowly fade audio in and out to help you relax or sleep. You can also use it as a meditation tool, because White Noise features soothing scenes and images to complement different sounds. What some users might find ironic is that not all the noises seem very relaxing. Fortunately, there's a wide selection to choose from, so you should never find yourself without an option to suit your relaxation needs.

White Noise is a simple but effective application for adding soothing ambient background noise to aid in relaxation.

Download White Noise 5.0 in Softonic

However, the lyrics are delivered in a Window that doesn't automatically appear on top of everything else so it can remain hidden. It would have been useful if the developers had somehow added an option to set the DesktopLyrics window on top but as things are, you'll have to minmize other windows to see the lyrics.

DesktopLyrics can also be a bit hit and miss as regards the lyrics it selects. Usually, you'll get the right song but occasionally it will either select something completely wrong or worse, nothing at all, leaving you with just a blank box. It seems that Desktop Lyrics doesn't use a wide range of databases to retrieve info which is why this occurs.

There are probably better lyric finders out there although DesktopLyrics is fine for anyone with a pretty mainstream music collection who doesn't mind minimizing windows to see it.

Download DesktopLyrics 1.3.5 in Softonic

DVD Hunter retrieves information by querying online databases (which ones is not clear) and uses an attractive iTunes-like interface to display DVD info and covers.

The application is completely integrated with your Mac Dashboard so if you want to add some details about a film into iCal or an upcoming release, you can do so very easily. In addition, DVD Hunter can also preview up and coming films although this is nowhere near as good or comprehensive as Apple's FrontRow. These are Previous track, Next track, and Play/pause. You can also see exactly which track is playing at any one time, and even the cover of album currently playing in a floating window. Alternatively, if menu bar access isn't your thing, you can specify hotkeys to control iTunes. Alternatively, the Synergy global menu also provides you with quick access to recently played tracks and playlists.

The advantages of using Synergy aren't particularly spectacular. Sure, you save some Dock space but it's debatable whether users will see fit to pay for an application that only does that. You can, of course, control iTunes simply by right-clicking or CMD-clicking on the iTunes Dock icon too. One of the other major downsides of Synergy is that if you're a user of previous version, you'll be asked to pay to upgrade to new major releases of the application.

Synergy isn't a spectacularly useful iTunes application, but if you love Menu Bar access for your apps, it will definitely appeal.

Download Synergy 4.5.2 in Softonic

Websites created in KavaTunes websites can stream your favorite playlists with continuous playback and even album artwork using your Mac as a web server.

If you don't want to use KavaTunes for anything else, why not just use it to populate the remaining gaps in your album cover collection in iTunes. Uploading your music can take a long time though, and much will depend on your internet connection and size of your music library.

The functionality of KavaTunes can be very hit and miss, however.

iZip is a practical application for anyone that wants to unzip and compress ZIP, RAR and ZIPX files.

The latter format, ZIPX, is one of the more obscure ones found on OS X, and iZip handles it with ease. In addition, the program treats archives as disks rather than compressed files. This means you can browse archives as if they were a disk using Finder with distinctive viewing options such as using iTunes style cover-flow browsing. This is great if you only need to extract specific files from an archive instead of extracting the whole thing.

Another handy feature is the possibility to share archives via files.com. You can upload them via iZip and receive a link which others can use to access it. Obviously, this is not advisable if you are dealing with an archive which contains particularly sensitive data though. There are few downsides to iZip - its a shame there aren't more configuration and customization options but overall, its an excellent archiver.

If you're looking for a free archiving tool with something a bit different, iZip is excellent.

Download iZip 1.1.5 in Softonic

There's nothing more bland than piles and piles of blank CDs or DVDs.

Most people can't be bothered to create personalized covers for them because they don't know where to start. However, innovations such as Lightscribe and applications such as Disc Cover have made it almost as easy to create a cover as it is to burn a disc so there's really no excuse.

Disc Cover is an easy to use and intelligent tool for creating CD/DVD labels, cover art and more. You can be as creative or as lazy as you want thanks to a huge number of templates and designs within Disc Cover. Best of all, it integrates with several other Apple applications such as iTunes, iPhoto, Finder and iDVD to import images and data into your covers saving you tons of time.

When you start Disc Cover, you are confronted with the setup wizard which allows you choose a template (based on music genre mainly) and then some track names from iTunes (or a film title from iDVD) that you want to import. After this, the graphics editor opens giving you a huge amount of control over how the disc cover looks.

In fact, Disc Cover is a design enthusiast's dream allowing you to tweak the color palette, change the fonts and reposition text accurately. The great thing about moving text around is that it automatically fits itself to the shape of the CD or DVD so you don't need to fiddle about.

If you've got lots of DVDs and CDs just waiting for covers, Disc Cover is the perfect applications to give them some life.

Download Disc Cover 3.0.4 in Softonic

You just want to enjoy your music.

That's where Ecoute comes in an, as a lightweight application which allows you to access your music, including all it's glorious cover art, without the need to even touch iTunes. Ecoute works via a small, expandable interface that allows you to expand and browse your entire music library and even podcasts, movies, and TV shows.

As with iTunes, you can search for music and even integrate your Last.fm account with Ecoute. What I really liked is the instant way it catalogs your music - you're ready to go as soon as it's installed. One small problem, however, is that long track names aren't displayed properly. It does support Growl alerts though, so you can see exactly what's playing.

Mac Games Arcade is a way of downloading and browsing a huge number of Mac games directly from your Mac's desktop.

The good news is that the majority of the games are pretty good covering everything from shoot-em-ups to role playing games. The bad news is that they're not free and some of them can take a long time to download. You can however test out most of the games with preview versions before you part with any cash.

The developers have clearly taken their inspiration from the iTunes store which is no bad thing although it doesn't quite reach the heights of iTunes. Although games are organized by category, there are literally hundreds to choose from and none of them are rated. It would be much more useful if there were user ratings and suggestions of related games for those users who were unsure of what to choose.

Mac Games Arcade is an excellent idea and concept that will keep any arcade games lover happy for more than a few hours.

Download Mac Games Arcade 1.7.4 in Softonic

CoverSutra 3.1.1

CoverSutra is a gorgeous little app to enjoy cover art from albums and play your iTunes library from your desktop.

I admit that I love using CoverFlow to browse and playback my music in iTunes, but this little app might just change my musical habits. First of all, it serves as a player for your iTunes library, with your list appearing in a sleek dark interface and playback buttons present in a floating dark window.

Secondly, CoverSutra knows how to put cover art forward like no other app. Every time you play a track from a new album, the cover will discreetly appear on your desktop, with its rating. You can also choose from three different CD case styles to display albums in.

Cover Sutra includes a full range of keyboard shortcuts by which you play back your songs and is fully set up to work with your Apple Remote. Users will also like having Growl support and Last.fm integration, so you can still scrobble what you're playing. Additionally, the latest version includes Spotlight search, which is much more powerful and faster than the search feature you originally have in iTunes.

Thanks to a gorgeous interface and intuitive tools like keyboard shorcuts, Growl and Last.fm support, Apple Remote and Spotlight search integration, CoverSutra is an excellent way to enjoy your music. Definitely recommended.

Download CoverSutra 3.1.1 in Softonic

CoverScout works for iTunes, iPhone, iPod or Apple TV. CoverScout now features things such as Quick Look which allows you to see your album covers in all their glory, CoverEditor which allows you to edit your album covers.

This latest version searches your favorite sites in order of preference and displays the results in CoverShelf. At the moment, it can search Amazon, Google Images and WalMart so you've got a huge repository of album art to choose from. Once your choice is made, simply apply it to your selected album. You can even find the cover a particular single and play the selected directly track in iTunes.

CoverScout is not an essential add on for music lovers but if iTunes can't retrieve your album covers, then CoverScout will more often than not have it covered.

Download CoverScout 3.4.1 in Softonic

Tangerine! 1.4

Dreamed of creating playlists of songs with the same beats per minute (BPM)? Tangerine! is a simple mixing tool that analyzes your tracks for you and pits the ones with a similar BPM together.

Tangerine! will inspect your iTunes music library as soon as you open the program. It normally processes them fairly fast. You'll see the interface is very similar to iTunes. Tangerine! displays your library, shuffle, and playlists. Track information is also shown just like it would be in iTunes.

You can let Tangerine! select tracks with a similar BPM, or just drag them down on the timeline. The albums will appear in a Cover Flow style, which really looks clean.

Tangerine! comes with different playlist models, depending on the sort of rhythm you are looking for. The BPM count will not always be right though, so make sure you listen to your playlist after its been mixed to see if you are happy with it.

If you don't know much about mixing but want your very own playlist then you'll enjoy Tangerine!.

Download Tangerine! 1.4 in Softonic

Album Artwork Assistant 3.0

Album art is one of the best ways to bring your music collection to life, especially where iTunes is concerned.

The problem is, there's not always any album art to choose from especially if you've got an eclectic collection. Album Artwork Assistant is a simple wizard that helps you to bring your iTunes library to life, helping you find the covers of your albums and labeling them correctly.

Using Album Artwork Assistant is simple. All you have to do to use it is select the name of the album you want to check for from your iTunes collection. Album Artwork Assistant will then give you a whole host of choices of album art to choose from - too many in most cases - and you can then select which one you want. All of the album covers possible are shown in the lower window.

Once you've selected it, another button enables you to send it directly to iTunes where you can add it to your collection. The perennial problem exists though, some singles and albums will inevitably return no results but on average, the hit rate is far better than by just using iTunes cover art searcher alone.

If you've got many albums lacking covers, then Album Artwork Assistant can help fill the gaps in your collection.

Download Album Artwork Assistant 3.0 in Softonic

If you're looking for a simple remote control for iTunes, then look no further than your iPod Touch, iPhone or Windows Mobile Pocket PC when used in conjunction with Signal.

Signal allows you to control playback, browse or search your media library, and edit playlists from anywhere in your home as long as you have your mobile device. The controls are more than adequate too covering all the essentials such as play and pause your music, shift between songs in the playlist, adjust the volume and even rating songs and setting album art.

While Signal is easy to setup and use, the problem is that since it was first released, Apple have made their own free Remote app for iTunes meaning that many won't see why they should purchase an app like Signal to do essentially the same job. However, the ability to manage album art and change ratings may be enough to appeal to some.

Signal doesn't offer any major advantages over Apple's Remote but may have a few album art and ratings capabilities that appeal to some.

Download Signal 1.3 in Softonic
