The application allows you to choose both the PPTP and L2TP protocols. You'll then have to enter your username, password, IP address range and check router, subnet mask and server details. Details entered in iVPN can be stored in your keychain if you so wish.

Setting up a VPN is fairly easy and is both secure and stable. It's very often chosen by businesses for connecting to a server without putting at risk company data and information.

You can easily set up a VPN connection via Network Preferences in your Mac, however some people might prefer the simpler interface offered by iVPN. You'll have control on all the VPN settings instead of having it appear among the other connections created on your Mac.

When editing, converting and even managing images on a Mac, the obvious choice can tend to be to use iPhoto, Aperture or Lightroom. GraphicConverter X is not as much in the limelight even though it proves to be a more than worthy alternative.

GraphicConverter X comes with two browsing views, which let you dig in deep in folders and find your pictures. The application can also convert pictures into any of the popular image formats out there. The interface itself is well structured and streamlines your workflow.

Although you may not find as many editing tools as in Aperture or Ligtroom, GraphicConverter X comes with a very wide list of filters and effects that you can place onto your pictures. These are all accessible from the menu bar.

GraphicConverter X probably lacks more advanced web and sharing features as you can only really send pictures by mail and create a rather basic HTML catalog. Considering that sharing pictures online is more and more common I would have liked to see more choices in this sense.

Thanks to a great interface, powerful and accessible features, GraphicConverter X is a solid photo application for managing, converting and editing your pictures.

Download GraphicConverter X 6.1.5 in Softonic

You'll find many similar applications on Mac, the reason being that Apple doesn't really provide an advanced deleting tool.

AppZapper is very intuitive to use: just drag and drop the application you want to remove onto its interface and let AppZapper find associated files. It will list these for you and let you decide which ones to remove or keep. If you just want to browse your applications and find which ones to delete, just press the Genie button at the bottom of the interface.

Luckily, AppZapper isn't limited to applicaitons. It will also list all plugins and widgets and let you delete them in a click.

The latest version of AppZapper also includes an undelete feature, just in case you've mistakenly removed a program and want to recover it.

Although the application works fine, it's a little worried that AppZapper hasn't been updated in such a while. There's bound to be more features to add to it and hopefully the developers will come up with something new soon.

Snapper is an unassuming yet powerful little application to work with your audio files.

The application displays the wave form of any audio file you select and you can play it back to work through the audio, if you're looking for a specific section. Those of you who have worked with audio files before know how much easier having a wave form allows you to study and edit an audio file.

Snapper seems to be particularly useful to check an audio file quickly before opening it up in Pro Tools. However, you can also use the program to send a file by mail and convert it to any format, such as MP3, WAV or AIFF. You can even convert it into separate L and R files for more precise sound editing.

What really makes Snapper attractive though is the fact that it can handle 50 different popular audio formats.

The only gripes we could have with it is that the interface looks a little outdated, especially for an application that can be run on Leopard, and that, at $79, its a fairly expensive application.

Despite the poor interface, Snapper is an excellent tool to preview any audio file in wave format and convert it to another format.

Download Snapper 1.4 in Softonic

Not only will your Mac be safe from your kid's curious hands but it'll also allow him (or her) to learn the alphabet. Beware though that it will launch immediately as soon as you start it, bringing up a white screen. Controls to exit are shown at the bottom left of the screen.

The program features its own set of images and sounds but you can also add your own. The process is not as streamlined as we'd have wished it but it works fairly well. We suggest setting your own pictures though, as not only will it make the learning process more personal, but it'll also allow you to use AlphaBaby as a sort of screensaver. To help your kid assimilate the alphabet you can also activate the 'Speak the letter' function, which pronounces a letter when the corresponding key is pressed using your Mac's text-to-speech technology.

Didactic, free and stimulating, AlphaBaby is the perfect program if you have toddlers.

Download AlphaBaby 1.7 in Softonic

The application, which offers seamless iCal integration, lets you create your own tasks, adding notes, tags and a due date and time. You can also create groups into which tasks can be organized. Dejumble doesn't include an alarm and won't let you create iCal events though.

Your tasks are shown in a list, which can be extended and viewed in three different ways: all, today's tasks or past due. Unfortunately Dejumble won't show you the due time unless you click on the quick look button and open it up.

We liked the search box at the top, which made tasks immediately accessible. Thanks to search as you type you don't necessarily need to know how you named a complete task to find it.

Zattoo brings genuine TV to the Mac via peer-to-peer technology, indicating the appropriate selection of television channels based on the country you live in, something that no Internet TV app has done successfully to date. After registering for a Zattoo account online and installing the client, you'll get an overview of the available TV stations in your locality.

For viewing things like live sport, Zattoo is a dream come true. You simply click on your desired channel and the transmission begins within a few seconds. Providing you have a quick Net connection, the streaming of the broadcast will work very smoothly, with only a few seconds delay from the live television show itself.

Zattoo finally brings genuine live TV to the Mac, after a very long wait, and because the program provides channels local to you, you don't have to endure commentary in gobbledegook. Although the image quality leaves a lot to be desired, with a fast Internet connection, Zattoo gives you genuine live television in a way no other application can do at the moment.

Download Zattoo 3.3.0 Beta in Softonic

Once installed on two or more Macs, Syncopation goes to work, finding music that is on one computer but not the others, and automatically transfers the songs between them so that they both contain your complete music collection.

Leave it running in the background and it will keep your iTunes libraries up-to-date. When you make changes to your song files on one computer, Syncopation updates your other computers with those changes. The clipboard of course! Well actually Macs don't really have a default clipboard as such. That's why most people end up installing a clipboard app. Like Dipboard.

Accessible from your menu bar, Dipboard reveals a big clipboard interface, available in three sizes (12,20 or 30 containers), seven colors and adjustable transparency. As soon as you copy or cut an element (like text or an image), you'll see it appear in one of the containers. Right click on one of them to perform more actions. You can also choose from four different animated transitions.

There's nothing wrong with Dipboard, but I couldn't help but find it a little clunky. The containers don't give you the best preview of items and I often found the clipboard itself got in the way on my desktop. Dipboard also felt a little basic, as I'd expect more features from a clipboard manager (like batch capabilities or keyboard shortcuts).

Things lets you easily create tasks and organize these by project. You can set them for a given date or delay less important ones by placing them in the 'Someday' category. Things syncs perfectly with iCal so that any newly created task of project appears in the Mac calendar.

To keep your tasks organized, Things lets you add tags. The more you add the easier it will be to find and identify a task. You'll also notice tags appear at the top of the interface.

With SyncMate, Mac users can do it just as easily.

This easy to use little program works with all Windows Mobile devices, including Standard, Classic and Professional version 6. Because it is built specifically for Mac it works seamlessly with applications, such as iPhoto, iCal, iTunes and your Address Book. We liked the way the interface was structured, letting you easily browse the elements you want to sync with your Windows Mobile device.

Because it's built specifically for this, it's much easier to use than a traditional screen capture application. Just configure the program, launch the Mac DVD Player and then take your shots. You can grab one image or decide to create a sequence, by setting the time interval. DVD Snap can bet set from 0.5 to 600 seconds intervals.

The application stores and numbers your shots, making them easy to find and exports to a number of image formats, including JPEG, PNG or GIF. The program window is very discreet and can be resized so it doesn't obstruct you when playing back the DVD.

DVD Snap works flawlessly with the Mac DVD Player, a huge plus but also it's only true limitation. We would have loved to see it being associated to any other media player and not just to DVDs, as you may want to take shots from other movie formats. The application carries with it all the applications that you'd expect: word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, database and drawing.

You'll find the interface of NeoOffice and the range of tools in the office suite very similar to what you'd find in Microsoft Office. However, NeoOffice does load up much faster when opening up any document. Most tools open up in a new window so make sure you don't have too many open, otherwise the interface will look really cluttered.

All the different applications in the NeoOffice suite work well and are more than worthy replacements to the options available in Microsoft Office and iWork'08. The presentation tool is the only one I was disappointed with, as it doesn't offer as many templates or tools as I expected to create a shiny, professional presentation.

Transmission 1.34

Transmission is currently the best torrent client on Mac thanks to a beautiful interface and a simple set of intuitive features.

This new version brings many more improvements to an already solid release. You can set different priority levels for torrents and establish stall limit times. The speed limit mode, represented by a turtle icon at the bottom of the interface, is extremely useful if you're looking to control the amount of bandwidth you use for uploads and downloads.

Transmission has consistently improved over time, offering many more options to view your torrents. You can now filter your torrent list according to downloading, seeding, or paused. The client can also organize transfers by queue order, date added, name, process. Transmission also allows you to label, filter and sort torrents by groups and total activity. You can also encrypt your torrent activity in case you want it to stay private.

We really like the new interface, which blends in perfectly to the new Mac OS X Leopard. Transmission manages to display all the essential information without actually seeming crowded, which is no easy feat. The only little nag we'd have with it is that it doesn't offer as many advanced statistics as you'd find in Azureus.

Despite no advanced statistics, Transmission is a beautiful and incredibly intuitive torrent client for Mac.

Download Transmission 1.34 in Softonic
