There's so much good stuff lurking on my computer that I forever want to take it with me and share it with the people I meet on my travels. Having recently lost my USB stick and not owning a memory card reader makes this a bit tricky though. Thankfully, Card Export II addresses this issue, allowing you copy data from your PC or Mac to the multimedia card or internal memory on your Pocket PC.

The application is ever-so easy to use: simply rig your phone up to your computer via the USB cable and a few seconds later the memory cards installed in your handset will show up as removable media in Windows Explorer. You can then simply transfer these onto your handset using your Pocket PC to slide them across.

If used properly, the program can save you the money because you don't need to buy additional mobile memory. It's ease of use means that if you need to take data around with you, then you need to install Card Export II.

Imagine if you could use your Pocket PC to sniff-out wi-fi hotspots. No more of that walking around wth your laptop looking for that elusive WiFi. Simply use Sniffi to literally sniff out WiFi spots in your neighborhood or working area. Sniffi is an advanced WiFi networks manager which may be used to search for hotspots, as a connection manager or as a network parameter monitor.

The application works in a very similar way to Windows WiFi network manager. The list of available networks is clearly displayed together with their ID, protection status and signal strength. There's a day/night color profile, fullscreen switch and you can switch it from vertical to horizontal mode easily. You can even perform pings on available networks and view TCP/IP stats for each one.

This is not the most effective WiFi detection system as much will depend on your mobile's capabilities but if you can't be bothered turning on your laptop to see what's available, its better than nothing.

If you are addicted to Photoshop, Illustrator and the like and wish you feed your digital art addiction wherever you go then you may wish to think about installing Vspainter. The program furnishes you with an editing environment containing all the tools needed to use your mobile device as a canvas and paint anything you like.

The program itself includes a gorgeous visual interface with selectable modules, designed specifically to make it easier for the selection of the tools without taking up space on the screen, in much the same way as you can do with Photoshop these days.

As far as the tools go, Vspainter offers a wide selection of brushes of all types, a bulging colour palette, an aid for symmetrical drawing, four levels of zoom, tools for creating geometric shapes and light and shadow effects.

It lacks the support for layers that would make this a truly perfect app, but I was amazed at what is achievable with Vspainter.

Being a big fan of the Wallace and Gromit series of films, I've always dreamed of living in a world made of clay. Now my dreams have been realized thanks to Platypus.

You assume the role of an orange flying craft that must save the country of Mungola by blasting the evil enemy invaders out of the sky. Essentially, it's a side-scrolling shooter but with one difference - everything is made from clay.

The graphics in Platypus are like none you'll have seen before. Because all of the elements were actually made from clay and digital captured, it makes for some truly stunning viewing. The animation is pretty slick too, and the splatting explosion effects are some of the best I've seen anywhere. The high-octane sound effects are impressive too and really help to set your pulse racing.

While the visuals are innovative and unique, unfortunately the gameplay is much the same as your average shooter, and after a while the process of blasting everything that slides across the screen becomes somewhat mundane. There is some stuff to collect and a few power-ups to improve your ship, which adds a little more life to this game.

In terms of options, you can adjust the sound and music volume, rotate the screen, and view high scores, but there's no facility for setting your own game controls.

You'll be blown away by the graphics but once the novelty of this has worn off you'll realize that Platypus plays like any other run-of-the-mill arcade shooter.

Since the iPhone landed on planet Earth it seems like every mobile developer is trying to come up with a way of managing contacts as slickly as the Apple device does.

This effort from 'Jotto' Andersen is a noble one, presenting your Pocket PC contacts in an interesting and innovative manner and allowing you to access them without the use of the stylus. To call up someone in your address book, you simply need to start typing on the large QWERTY keyboard and matching records will pop up above. Simply click the contact that you want and you're then ready to get in touch with them.

You can then choose to call them, send an SMS or email, or even send them your GPS location via Google Maps. The screens are beautifully presented with a black background, colourful Mac-style icons and a stylish keyboard. Accessing contacts is a very quick affair and the program uses very little memory.

Unfortuately there are a few key features missing, such as the ability to add or edit contacts (there is a one-click link to your Outlook address book though) and I noticed quite a few bugs when testing the program. For example, if you try to access a record with no details stored the program crashes.

Nevertheless, Finger-Friendly Friends is a decent attempt at replicating the iPhone-style contacts manager on Windows Mobile.

In case you didn't know, Apple have released a device called the iPhone, which is the greatest phone in the history of the World ever. Apparently. If you want to try out the new technology but are put off by the price of the iPhone, then get FreeStylWM onto your Pocket PC pronto.

The free software adorns your Today screen with a surface designed to look and behave like the Apple mobile. The program is based on the mobile Flash platform, so you'll need this installed, and you'll also need Internet connectivity to hook up to FreeStyl http server.

Pursuing with the lengthily install and setup procedures is well worth it, because the riches that this theme offers are quite incredible. I guess the main boon is the slick Today screen interface, where you're presented with large, iPhone-style icons representing your tasks and applications. The beauty of these is that they enable you to access things without the need for a stylus as they are lare enough to be tapped with a finger.

The amount of configuration options within FreeStylWM is very impressive, allowing you to assign icons to specific programs, choose from a number of Mac-ish wallpapers, select an analog or digital clock display or access new 'applets' for more iPhone functionality on your device, such as Contacts or Weather.

If you want to know what it feels like to use an iPhone, FreeStylWM represents one of the most realistic simulations I've encountered.

Ever wished you could speed up the way your Pocket PC operates? Fed up with trawling through the Start menu to access programs or files? Well, this is your lucky day because Pocket Launcher can help you in both these departments.

The program brings a little more order to the Today screen, providing you with quick access to often-used applications and files from a series of tabs at the bottom of the screen. Each tab is formed of an icon relating to a category such as Games, Tasks, Apps and Docs.

The installation process involves Pocket Launcher sifting through your programs and shortcuts to ensure that everything is correctly formed, so this can take a while. However, the program does include a comprehensive guide to setting up the program and managing its options.

Talking of options, there are plenty to play around with, such as customisable tabs, behavours and Gizmos. Be careful when you're editing the tabs that you don't make the icons too big because they're actually pretty ugly when viewed in large format - this is a world away from the Mac OS Dock.

Nevertheless, if you want a simple way of getting quicker access to your files and documents on Windows Mobile, Pocket Launcher is a decent solution.
