Octave 3.0.1

If you're scientific or mathematical work involves highly complex linear and non linear problem solving, then you may find that Octave provides the power you've been looking for.

Octave is a high-level language developed by the open source community which functions simply by providing a command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear numeric problems. For those that are familiar with Matlab, they will have few problems picking up Octave because it works in conjunction with the former language.

The program basically features several very powerful tools for solving the kind of linear algebra equations that would send shivers down the spine of even the most experienced mathematician. According to the developers, it also includes functions for manipulating polynomials and integrating differential and differential-algebraic equations if you know what those are in the first place! The one bonus for those familiar with other languages is that Octave can also be extended or used in conjunction with modules written in C++, C, Fortran and others.

This is an extremely complex language that only those familiar with Matlab or Fortran will pick up quickly. Anyone else should be prepared to put a lot of hours in although the problem solving skills it will provide you with seem virtually limitless.

Download Octave 3.0.1 in Softonic

Math ScriptConsole 1.0

Math ScriptConsole (MSC) lets you do mathematical calculations using scripts and commands in a console-based multiple-window interface. You can either run single commands interactively or run a batch of commands from a script file. It's an ideal replacement for windows calculator which is too simple for scientists and engineers. Math ScriptConsole is under the power and flexibility of Microsoft VBScript engine. It includes extra functions and libraries specifically designed for scientists and engineers.

What's more, it's very easy to add your own functions and create your own libraries. Math ScriptConsole has the same scripting and programming capability and console interface as matlab but this one is much lighter and faster to launch than matlab. If you don't need all the powerful toolboxes in matlab, Math ScriptConsole is a very good alternative choice. In Math ScriptConsole, you can also run DOS commands, shell commands and a set of built-in commands. This can save you the trouble of entering black DOS boxes or opening Windows run dialog.

Features:

Convenient and error-proof MDI-based console interface

Same scripting and programming capability while lighter than matlab

You can use both interactive commands or run pre-stored script files

You can define your own libraries of functions and subs

Built-in libraries on math, statistics and file I/O.

Powered by Microsoft VBScript Engine

Object-oriented scripting with support of COM/ActiveX technology

Built-in script editor supporting syntax highlighting

Ability to run DOS/system built-in commands

Ability to run any executables accessible by PATH environment variable

Shell Integration with Windows Explorer

Download Math ScriptConsole 1.0 in Softonic
