Microsoft Office Word Viewer is a handy tool that lets you view or print any Microsoft Word document quickly, without having to install Microsoft Office in its entirety.

After a simple install process, run Microsoft Office Word Viewer and you're presented with an Open File dialog window. Remember: you can't create, change or save any document in Microsoft Office Word Viewer. Select your chosen file (the viewer supports DOCX files via a converter, as well as older DOC and other formats).

Upon opening your document, you'll see that Microsoft Office Word Viewer displays just as it would in the original Microsoft Word, only without any of the editing tools. This means that you can see editorial notes and changes, if they have been tracked on the document. Additionally, you may access the file's properties window which will display statistics and authorship information, along with other details.

While you cannot export or save any document from Microsoft Office Word Viewer, you do have two options for obtaining a copy of the text. You may either print the document (which works just as well as printing from the full version of Word), and you're also allowed to copy the text and paste it into another application.

In all, Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2007 is a small and useful free download for viewing Microsoft Word documents. While it has no editing functions, it lets you read documents from any version of Microsoft Word with ease.

Excluding dictionaries, Wordz is really compact at just under 2Mb. Wordz is also 100% portable and can be either installed onto a flash drive or just copied across and run from there.

Nowadays, using the Internet, translation tools have improved immeasurably converting huge amounts of text into understandable versions in another language (depending on what language we're talking about of course). Web Translator is a fully featured online translation tool that helps you translate web pages, web sites, as well as words, sentences and documents into another language.

The languages currently supported by Web Translator are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. It can translate from a diverse range of applications including Microsoft Word, Notepad, WordPad, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook Express, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Frontpage and more. After introducing it officially back in July, Microsoft have now launched the final version of the long-awaited Microsoft Office 2010.

I tested both the Technical Preview and the Beta version released months ago, and happily I've found a bunch of new features and improvements in the final version. For starters, the Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business pack includes five apps, namely Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. If you need to test more Office apps, you can try Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus instead.

As regards appearance, all the Microsoft Office 2010 apps have been slightly modified. They still keep the "ribbon" interface – in a much clearer, almost minimalist style – but the Office button has been renamed to "File" and now shows a different pane. Not only does it include direct access to all document-related tasks, but also shows detailed information about the document you're currently working on.

Leaving changes aside, the truth is that Microsoft Office 2010 has pretty much the same features we already saw in the Technical Preview. The context menu in Word, for example, has been greatly improved and lets you see changes in real time as you browse through the different options. You can now add videos to your PowerPoint presentations, remove redundant messages from conversations in Outlook and insert small color charts inside cells in Excel spreadsheets. There are also tools to translate text, take and use screenshots, and apply special effects to the images you use in your documents. What's more, Microsoft Office 2010 now lets you save your documents on SkyDrive and share them online in just two clicks.

Regarding performance, Microsoft Office 2010 seems to be as fast and light on system resources as the Technical Preview. There's a significant improvement in the time the suite apps take to launch, and how they behave when working on your documents.

In all, Microsoft Office 2010 is an excellent productivity suite with great new features that make it easier and more comfortable to use, and also turn it into an even more professional solution for daily work tasks.

Behind this odd name (believe it or not, this is actually the seventh version of Windows), Microsoft's new OS includes a bunch of new features that try to make the computer easier and more enjoyable to use. Honestly, after the Vista fiasco this wasn't a hard task to do, and I have to admit that Windows 7 has left a very good taste in my mouth.

Microsoft has made the migration to the new OS as easy as possible. With Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor you can check if your computer is compatible with Windows 7, and if you're upgrading from Windows XP, you can use Windows 7 Easy Tranfer to copy documents, files, user accounts and settings to your new system. After a surprisingly quick installation process, Windows 7 launches in a very Vista-like environment. Similar desktop backgrounds, an almost identical Start menu, similar window theme as well... It even keeps the Aero effects and the popular Vista gadgets, though this time they're not limited to the sidebar. The whole system works very smoothly, without hogging system resources.

Besides these obvious Vista comparisons, Windows 7 also includes all the new features announced by Microsoft over the last few months: fully revamped versions of Wordpad and Paint that have turned them into really powerful apps now; a new toolbar with enhanced functionality (icons now launch programs and also let you switch among them); the so called Jump List that improve access to recently used documents and apps: the all-new Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Media Player 12; and a generally enhanced user interface that makes Windows easier to use (no more UAC messages, hooray!).

Obviously you can't decide whether you like a new operating system just after a few hours of usage. But like I said, this new Windows 7 is really promising and it's really worth a try, especially if your XP needs a complete overhaul or you're simply too tired of Vista's little annoyances.

Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft's popular operating system. Though not exactly revolutionary in terms of design, it does include some nice new features and enhancements that will make your system faster, more stable and easier to use. It is definitely the true heir to Windows XP, and the long awaited-for replacement for Vista.
