You can use a range of martial arts in your struggle against the dark forces of the Stones Metin.

This classic role-playing game is based online with different classes based on various martial arts weapons. You can use swords, spears or bows and over time, your aim is to become the most powerful warrior in the Orient. Graphically, the game is steeped in Oriental symbols with some fantastic buildings and backdrops although it's the excellent soundtrack that sticks in the mind. The battle scenes are also pretty memorable as you take on warriors from other empires in your quest for dominance of the continent. You can switch between a mix of martial arts from what seems like kung fu to taikwando and karate.

If you like kung fu and martial arts games, then you'll love this - great graphics and a great soundtrack mix to make it a beat-em-up classic.

Download Metin2 20080915 in Softonic

Caisses 1.21

If you've ever dreamed about working in a warehouse (and I know I have on many occasions), then the chances are you used to love playing Sokoban. Although, you probably didn't know it was called Sokoban, but it's the one where you have to push boxes in a straight line into a designated space.

Well, the game is still alive and kicking, and is widespread on mobile devices. Caisses is one of the more interesting clones I've come across though, and provides amazing depth considering it's a piece of freeware.

Your basic aim is the same old story - you're a warehouseman who must shuffle parcels around. You can only push the boxes in a straight line, and you can't push more than one box at a time. As a result, the gameplay is very addictive, but certainly not very original.

The best thing about Caisses is the fact that you can customise the game to the n-th degree. Not only can you choose from a bevy of cool backgrounds, but there are loads of game themes to choose from too. For instance, you can choose to play as Pac-Man, Zangeif, a nurse, or even the Linux penguin, and the objects you push change accordingly.

It gets pretty tough as you progress through the 500 levels, so it would've been nice to see some kind of hints feature, but the challenge of getting your head around the hundreds of puzzles is enough to keep you coming back for more.

The graphics aren't the best ever and because this version is ported from a mobile phone version, the game window is quite small.

Nevertheless, Caisses offers a fun way to test your brain during a break from your usual routine.

Download Caisses 1.21 in Softonic

By clicking the mouse, you can increases your jump height, and moving the mouse to the left or right moves him appropriately. The aim to is to keep your little men going because your power meter slowly reduces over time. If you hit your head too many times, you fail the test and your man will also come to a standstill. There are about 12 levels which progressively get more difficult as you jump along. The aim is to learn how high is safe enough in each particular area so as not to bump your head. The problem is that it's not clear how much mouse clicking contributes to the power of your jumping. There is no power meter to let you know how powerful your next jump is going to be so you end up using a lot of guesswork in the end. Nevertheless, Pogo Sticker is an extremely fun game although it is quite difficult because of the lack of power bar but at the same time.

If you need a quick break from work and want to jump around a bit, Pogo Sticker is a fun and challenging game.

Download Pogo Sticker 1.0.3 in Softonic

Kart n' Crazy

Those of you who have played Mario Kart on any platform will already be acquainted with Kart n' Crazy, an online kart racing game clearly inspired by the Nintendo popular title.

The first thing I'd like to point out is that this game is completely free: simply register a free account on the developer's webpage, download the client and you're ready to go. As an online game, you may have to download extra patches but it doesn't take long.

Kart n' Crazy definitely met our expectations – and believe me, as a faithful Mario Kart fan, they were high. The game is very funny, features different playing modes to appeal different kinds of gamers and includes also an addictive social component which lets you meet other players and chat with them while speeding along the circuit's bends.

There are two game modes: Speed and Arcade. The first one challenges players to be the fastest on track, while in the second one the aim is to make other players fail on their way to the finishing line by using different weapons you can pick up and use along the race. These weapons are also similar to the ones you find in Mario Kart: the lightning bolt, the turtle, the star that makes you go faster (no bananas though).

Personally, I found the Arcade mode to be much more exciting. I had loads of fun racing and trying to throw other players off the track at the same time. After each race, depending on your position on the final ranking, you're awarded experience points which you can later on use to customize your kart and buy new apparel for your driver.

Now, is there any drawback to this game? Not really. Except the odd connectivity issue (which is reasonable bearing in mind this is the first public release) Kart n' Crazy is an excellent racing game for all ages.

If you like Mario Kart or just kart racing games, you'll love Kart n' Crazy: an online karting game where you can compete against players worldwide to be the fastest pilot in the world – even if you have to kick your competitors off the road!

Download Kart n' Crazy in Softonic

You can add more functionalities by downloading them from the Ace community (see Extras tab).

Take a look at what this add-on has to offer:

So, not surprisingly, I struggled to get to grips with this game. The basic premise is simple - you must uncover pairs of maps by steering a ball around a maze. The ball moves very quickly and this can get very frustrating if you prefer to endulge in the memory side of the game. Matters aren't made an easier by the inclusion of labyrinths, traps and deadly maps.

Despite my irritation at not being able to master the game so well, I have to admit that it's a graphically interesting creation, evoking memories of days spent playing Rock'n'Roll on the Amiga. An online function improves the longevity of Enigma - provided you have the patience to stick at it.

Download Enigma 1.01 in Softonic

If your parents were slightly richer and you had an Amiga, then you'll probably know it as Emerald Mine. Rocks'n'Diamonds is basically a clone of these games, charging you with the task of exploring endless mines to uncover precious jewels. As soon as you've collected enough gems you'll be transported to the next level. But don't expect to finish the game quickly because there are over 50,000 levels to negotiate!

The levels themselves get a bit repetitive but luckily the developer has included a level editor, allowing you to construct your own mines (if you have the patience for this, of course). The graphics and sounds are very plain but in terms of a retro experience it's a faithful recreation of the Commodore classic. And yes, it's still great fun to play.

Download Rocks'n'Diamonds 3.2.3 in Softonic

This program lets you connect online with other players to play in up to 5 different poker games: Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha H/L, 7 Stud, and 7 Stud H/L. You'll need to log in if you want to enter any playing room, but luckily this only takes a few seconds. We also liked how the game lets you play with play money, or for the more seasoned players, real money. If that's what you're into, you'll be able to enter your bank accounts to have some credit ready. The game features SSL encryption to protect your private details. When playing, there's a small chat window in the interface, where you can view all the plays and chat with the other players.

As an online poker room, Enterra Poker works well and it's easy, both for beginners and experienced players, to start a game in seconds. The game offers enough variations to keep you interested, and the fact that it is online means you'll barely meet the same opponents twice. We only suggest you to be moderate, if you really decide to get serious and bet real money

Download Enterra Poker 1.4 in Softonic

N-Ball 2.2

N-Ball is a classic side-scroller with a twist. It could be that you're controling a glowing plasma ball that bounces off the scenery. Maybe it's the lack of enemies who have been replaced by moveable obstacles. Or perhaps it's the funky 70’s music sound track is what makes this game unique. Whichever you think is its most outrageous aspect, one thing is for sure – N-Ball is fun.

The idea behind N-Ball is as simple as the controls – left, right and jump. You guide a ball through each level overcoming obstacles along your way to reach a floating platform at the far end of the level. Unfortunately the end of the level also means the end of existence. If you go that little bit too far you'll drop like you’ve just fallen off the edge of the world and have to begin the level again!

The physics of the game are very life-like with the ball accelerating down slopes or bouncing off rubber surfaces. As you progress you will encounter various objects and gadgets that will react differently to the ball depending on how contact is made. These can include balancing scales, sticky surfaces, funnels, levers, etc. As for the music, it should take you about three levels to start humming along and four to be grinding your teeth at hearing the same clip over and over.

On consideration, the best way to look at N-Ball may not be as a game, but more of an experience. There isn't really any goal that you must reach, but rather you can play around interacting with the multitude of contraptions and trying to manipulate them to assist your ball on its journey. With 40 levels to explore you will get hours of enjoyment and as you reach the latter levels perhaps a little frustration. What's more, you also get a level editor so you won't ever need to play the same level twice.

Download N-Ball 2.2 in Softonic

Ragdoll Masters 3.0

Ragdoll Masters might sound like an unlikely name for a combat game but if you look at the alternatives it sounds a whole lot better than ‘Puppet Fighters’ or ‘Dolly Wars’. The idea is so simple it’s genius – two relatively hefty stick men, neither with any control over their limbs (as tends to be the case with stick men) must repeatedly bump in to each other while confined in an anti-gravity chamber from which there is no escape. Throw in a healthy portion of 'realistic' physics and things start to get really interesting.

Your control over the fighter is limited to up, down, left, and right. To kick or punch, you have to hurtle your ragdoll spinning through the air and hopefully land a perfectly placed big toe to the head of your opponent. As the fight progresses, you build points for combos and head blows, and you will notice the wrists of the fighters grow red. This redness becomes increasingly brighter until the losing ragdoll explodes in a shower of small balls.

The unique controls and game play of Ragdoll Masters make it extremely addictive although it is most likely the kind of game that you will return to time and time again when you have a few minutes to burn. The developer specializes in this kind of physics based game so if you want to try some more check out N-Ball and Super Stealball.

Download Ragdoll Masters 3.0 in Softonic
